Read the attached story. Here you have George Laughrun negotiating a lesser charge of "assault on a female" from "rape". The result is that the defendant gets probation instead of jail time.

In the Brock Franklin case Laughrun fails to negotiate to a lesser charge and simply turns his teen age client over to the prosecutors for a 15 year jail sentence.

Following Pavlico's testimony, the government was permitted to call to the stand the attorney who represented Pavlico during the Reporting Act trial, Mr. George Laughrun. The sole purpose of Laughrun's testimony was to rebut Pavlico's assertion that his lawyer had somehow prevented him from testifying at the Reporting Act trial. Laughrun denied both that he had in any way coerced Pavlico into declining to testify, and he also denied that he had ever told Pavlico that, in his opinion, there was no way Pavlico could be convicted of the charges at the Reporting Act trial. Laughrun testified that he did advise Pavlico that, in his opinion, it was in Pavlico's best interest not to take the stand. Laughrun made clear, however, that Pavlico was aware that the ultimate decision whether to testify remained with Pavlico.

7
The issue of Pavlico's decision not to testify at his first trial came up later, this time during the testimony of Pavlico's wife, Michelle. Pavlico apparently called his wife solely to rebut attorney Laughrun's testimony. Mrs. Pavlico testified that Laughrun not only had urged her husband not to testify at the Reporting Act trial, but also that Laughrun told the Pavlicos that he had spoken with the district judge, and that the judge believed that Pavlico would be acquitted, thus making Pavlico's testimony unnecessary.

8
Ultimately, the jury convicted Pavlico of nine counts of mail fraud and one count of making false statements to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Jacoby for his part was convicted of 23 counts of mail fraud and one count of making false statements to the S.E.C. The court proceeded to sentence Pavlico to a 40-year term of imprisonment

He's a real salesman alright.Get's his foot in the door and won't leave until he's sold what he is selling!!!!!!HUH!

I think there are plenty of people out in the city of Charlotte that has been dirt under Laughrun's feet for a long time.

Oh and BTW he is the City's attorney for the CMPD.

He gets them off with no trouble. Doesn't matter what they do. I'm not putting down CMPD. Just the one's that we know should face some jail time and Laughrun knows he doesn't have to do anything except put up a little questioning and the CMPD is off scott free. Nothing is consistant . Anyway isn't this a conflict of interest. He works for the City CMPD and then is a criminal lawyer also.
I think it is favors for favors with this guy and kickbacks.

This guy Geroge Laughrun needs to be investigated
thoroughly. Not just a little , but thoroughly.

Yeah, I noticed the discrepancy in George's response to this defendant as compared to Brock Franklin. Just a little resistance by Laughrun would have turned the Franklin case around. Instead Laughrun just joined the prosecutors team and allowed his client to be "over charged" for the accident. Vehicular manslaughter or something like that was the appropriate charge.
Let Brock Franklin out of jail, this is ridiculous.

George Laughrun is one of the most corrupt lawyers in Charlotte, imho. He has no brains, it's all about under-the-table negotiations and lining the right people's pockets.. If the government ever took a close look at Charlotte, you'd see the same kind of crack down like they are having in Chicago, Illinois right now and Laughrun would be part of that crowd.
He takes people's money and either lines the right pockets or does absolutely nothing for them, basically stealing the money for his own use. He doesn't care about his clients at all.. it's all like a numbers game to him.. He either works for the very well-to-do or takes on hundreds of "low-life" cases that he doesn't even work on at all and just pockets the money. It's all about "who" he knows -- that probably take bribery payments for a certain outcome in a case -- it's not "what" he knows..

Jorge Laughrun is a sheister-pars-excellance...jus t the biggest defense lawyer crook in the smallest town that fancies itself as the "biggest city with URBANE viewpoints" in the USA! Overrated small town always trying to overshadow Atlanta even with inflated (all lies)populaion over Atlanta's (what a joke!) due to constant annexation of small podank hick villages around it.

George Laughrun keeps representing this screw up, one day he will be representing him for murder.
Let's see him get him out of that. Course he will, Laughrun would get wealthier on that.
The differences between your case and the other clients he represents, is that they didn't kill anyone. I'm sure if your case hadn't resulted in a murder, he would be home now singing Christmas carols with the family. You can't compare apple and oranges.

You're an idiot. First of all Laughrun has represented clients accused of murder; so there is no distinction between Franklin and some of Laughrun's other clients. Well maybe he mustered a defense for these other clients as oppossed to the fraud he perpetrated on the Franklin family.
Secondly "your case" did not result in a murder. A case cannot commit murder.
Maybe you cant compare apples to oranges but then again you're an eggplant so what do you know?

:-(

maybe for Christmas Santa will bring you some balls, so you can stop acting like a little b&^ch.
Now if you would like to educate yourself first and then comment, I have no problem with that.
I never said he hadn't represented anyone for murder, but the article your lover "No One" mention, the client hadn't killed anyone.
If you don't like George don't use him. I bet if he had gotten Brock off with a slap on the wrist, he would have been the greatest thing on earth.
So you continue to get an ulcer over this case. I'm glad to see that you still provide humor to the forum

George Laughrun is a horrible excuse for a lawyer if there ever was one.
He talks down to his clients, doesn't sit with them in court, ignores them and basically destroys lives. I was clearly set up years ago by a group of people who thought it was funny to give me some drinks and then call the cops. I had my career purposely destroyed while this man did NOTHING even though he was paid very well with my hard-earned money! He even seemed amused at the destruction of my life. The cop on the stand actually said she never even saw me swerve at all -- I was totally set up from the get go and he didn't nothing at all!! he will get his some day!!!! GOD WILLING!!!!!!!!

typo - He DID nothing at all!! There is a huge story behind what happened to me and he didn't even want to hear it.. I was set up and mistreated in so many ways.. even made to withdraw my appeal at the threat of re-arrest! He thought that was amusing.... I will forever feel as a warrior because my career was destroyed by those people for the fun of it. I had nothing else. I have put on weight, my health has failed because of it and it ultimately will be my death if I can't find justice for what happened to me. I have nothing to loose now -- I will find justice!!!!! one way or another!!!!!!!!! Avoid George Laughrun unless you are extremely wealthy and/or famous.. Those are all he works for. He didn't even review my case until five minutes before the hearing.. I don't think he would have even known who I was. He heard a dozen cases that morning, like an assembly line... My entire life was ruined because I was set up and I WILL FIND JUSTICE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!! from the people that have harmed me!!!!!!!

He was so bad you could have sought another attorney to handle your appeal.
Of all the people in Charlotte, why would the cops and attorneys plot to set you up....what did they gain from the situation?

As far as someone giving you drinks, didn't you have the option of drinking them or not. I'm think people need to stop blaming others for their actions. Don't Drink and Drive.....remember what happen to Brock Franklin. He ended up killing 2 people, so your lucky you didn't cause yours or anyone elses death.

I DID seek another attorney and HAD another attorney waiting in the wings, but the courts moved up the date and the people at the courthouse told me that because I would be there standing alone for the actual hearing that the Judge would most likely have me re-arrested and re-booked if I did not Withdraw my appeal. I was left having to stand in front of the Judge and withdraw my fight for the truth and justice about what happened to me at the threat of re-arrest. That is NOT right!(Although, George didn't have anything to do with that happening as far as I know...) It was just another injustice upon many that happened to me.

George didn't care at all.... I was just a number on an assembly line of clients.. He only cares for the super-rich or well-known people.. If I had of been famous, ha.. well then.. he would have spent more than a few minutes on my case... even though I paid good money... They don't care about the "little people" or their stories.. The woman that got me to drink a spiked drink and made the phone call(s) had power... more than I knew and I didn't know that she was a friend of someone that misunderstood me and I had a falling out with :( I was invited to perform at a place basically where someone that didn't like me controlled the situation and had a lot of power in Charlotte.(I never did perform there afterall) She knows a lot of people and it would have been easy for her to call a cop friend and get them to legally stack the deck against me.. with just a simple phone call, my life was destroyed... fun for them... I learned from this experience that people in power can do ANYTHING to you that they want to do.... There is no justice unless you make justice for yourself!! and someday, God willing, I will have mine.
