Please do not take your vehicle to Aces Automotive in Indian Trail. I have taken my two vehicles to these collection of mechanics and have had problem after problem. It is my belief that these guys have created problems in our vehicles to perpetuate our services. Here is the list of issues we are experiencing and excuse me if I have gotten the chronology off a bit.

My car (Ford Taurus-2005) has never required any major work. I change the oil every 3,000 miles and have adhered to the advised maintenance schedule. My minivan (Ford Windstar-1999) has had the transmission changed early on but that is about it. Like the Taurus, we make sure that the vehicle is maintained.

But, here are my issues.

I took my car there because it was giving me trouble starting. I was told I needed to have a ‘coil’ replaced and a tune-up. I trusted them on the coil and was due for a tune up so I agreed and asked that they provide the service.$500.00 later I was still having issues starting my car. I let them know that I was disappointed because their diagnosis was clearly wrong. They could not explain why I needed the coil and the receptionist (a very nice man) appeared uncertain. On the 3rd day, my car was straining to start again, and noticed my windows, radio, and horn were straining, which suggests an issue with the battery. I changed the battery myself at Auto Zone and I have been fine ever since.

My wife also took the van there to have the breaks changed. They expressed to my wife their sorrows that I was not very happy with their work and wanted to make it up. They changed the van’s front breaks, smoothed out the rotors, cleaned the drums, realigned the car, and rotated the tires. All of this was done at a ‘discounted rate’. However, they also informed my wife that the van has a leak in the power steering. Ironically, we never had any evidence to support such a diagnosis but now I have fluid leaking on my garage floor. In addition, while driving my children the break lights (break and ABS) came on and I could not stop the vehicle without mashing it to the floor. They are now saying the master cylinder in worn, how convenient. Conventional wisdom suggests that they fail to get the air out of the line.

They also told my wife that the lights were on because the master control module was bad. Now they are claiming that it is fine since we have returned the van to have the breaks evaluated. So, at the time, we could have had them replace the master control module for nothing. What changed?

These guys seem to be a joke! Hey clearly lack the skills to perform regular repairs on a common vehicles. They lack the ability to perform proper diagnosis. And, most importantly, they do not appear to be very honest when they make a mistake. These errors have cost my family almost $1,000 and our personal safety. Please be careful when selecting a mechanic. I have never experienced anything like this with our previous mechanic. I think these guys want to make it right, but I have had enough. My family means too much to me to put them at risk.

I also failed to mention that my wife also got the oil changed and when the car was returned, the dip-stick was broken. They claimed that they did not do it, and they did not know it was broken. However, when one changes oil, don't they check the consistency and clarity before and after making the change? Wouldn't one need to use the dip-stick to check the oil levels, clarity, and consistency? These guys are a bunch of misfits.

Thanks, I will... I was just informed that my master cylinder 'may' have failed because they failed to bleed the breaks. I do not know one way or the other, but I am really dissapointed.

Thanks for your post, i got a job offer from them and wanted to do some research. I currently work at Ford and dont want to work at a " not so professional" place. But you know how that goes, one bad or crooked tech can give a bad name to the whole business.

I do not know what you are talking abour. I did not have the same experience. I took 2 cars there 3 different times,a nd was met with failure and ignorance. In one case, there was nothing wrong with my car, but they wanted to replace all sorts of things.

One can make money by simply being honest.

I took the dump truck over there yesterday to get serviced. That big old gal come running out in a pair of size 6 shorts trying to cover her size 10 ass. She was carrying a McDonald's Supersize Cup.
I axe her "Honey what is you drankin'?"
She said "I ain't a drankin' nothin'. This here is my spit cup." She pulled out a pouch of Redman and offered me a chaw but I declined.
I throwed up the hood of the dump truck. She kept following me around and talking kind of flirty like. She axe me if I had ever seen that movie where the girl warshes the car with her big old tiddies. I told her I remembered seeing it. She said she reconned she would like to do that and I told her to go ahead. We was laughing because she might have had a B cup at the most. She got tickled and swallered some Redman juice and got to coughing and spittin'.
I said "Honey you need to set down. You is getting a little green around the gills".
She answered "I don't know if I can set down in these tight britches without ripping them cause they is already so tight they is squeezin' my woman organs."
I looked her over and figured I would need a 2 ton jack, a chain hoist and a come-along to get her down. I said "Honey I guess we will have to take them shorts off so's you can set down and get to feelin' better."
She said "Not out here in the carwarsh where everbody can see my treasures. Let's get up in the dump bed where nobody can see."
Bout that time a mechanic man come out and axe what all I wanted done to the dump truck. He got out a paper and commenced to writin' stuff down. After he finished I axe him how much Aces was goin' to charge and he tole me.
I said "you is charging me Ace's Prices but I ain't got the Jack to pay you."

so you that you know who ever told you that the master cylinder might have failed because they didn't bleed the brakes knows nothing about cars at no point of doing front brakes or adjusting the rear brakes should you have to bleed the brakes

i was just stating that someone one was missing forming you. That the master cylinder went out because they didnt bleed the brakes I know some about cars and the brake system is sealed system and if they didn't replace any thing hydraulic then bleeding the brakes would not be nessary. I was reading shop reviews because I just moved to the area and have been looking for a shop to bring my cars to so have you found a good one yet

I found a great one called Tire Country on Monroe Rd in Monroe, NC. Great people; honest, courteous, professional, but very slow. I own 3 cars so it is not an inconvenience. I will always sing their praises.
