And just recently Dan Savage affirmed that its ok to be intolerant people. If homophobes are bad as depicted, what does coming down to their level say about the rightiousness of the purported victims of homophobia? that would be like Martin Luther King rounding up a bunch of whites and taking them out somewhere and lynching them. Gay activists' hearts are in the wrong place to EVER achieve NOBLE civil rights.

So your solution is to deny marriage to a segment of the population that DOES have children? That makes absolutely NO SENSE at all.
More sense than children of same sex unions; gays have the right to marry under the same standards as everyone else, there is no orientation test for marriage. Only heterosexual unions can create new citizens so we keep marriage between husband and wife for the survival of our society.

Instead of whining about entitlements and claiming you want small government,(while at the same time trying to get the government to intrude on the private lives and rights of a segment of the population) why don't you focus on raising revenue?
Our government has a spending problem, no matter how much they take they keep borrowing and spending more. Raising revenue won't fix the problem, just prolong the agony.

DNF wrote:
I know this is unpopular but when 50% of the country is paying NO TAXES keeping gays and lesbians from marrying isn't the biggest problem. You and people like you amaze me.
Nobody is keeping gays and lesbians from marrying; Oscar Wilde and Meredith Baxter married; gays have always married under the same rules as everyone else. Keeping the government from recognizing a new entitlement group of same sex dependent beneficiaries will help cut debt. Make them work to support their loved ones, not wait on the public dole.

We'll have a Tea Party Congress, no more spending our grandchildren's tax dollars. Romney wants to cut, cap and balance the budget, Obama wants more of the same.

One thing you can say about the Bush Presidents, they grew government at a slower rate than Obama.

You don't have the votes for a Constitutional Amendment, Brian. It will NEVER get out of Congress. But dream on.... You are in for a big surprise come November.
Maybe now, but after Romney's election, things will change. If the US Supreme Court makes a decision on DOMA or Proposition 8, that will help.

The choice can't be clearer, Romney will defend DOMA and the right of states to choose, while Obama's views are 'evolving'. Obama will keep spending and Romney promises to stop.

<quoted text>I've been thinking a lot lately about what I learned from "Christianity". Not Paul's do and don'ts but the stories I heard as a child about Jesus. Today the story of the good Samaritan has been running through my mind. The person he helped didn't ask him to repent his sins. There wasn't a price he had to pay other than just being kind to someone less fortunate. I'm so sick of hearing people talk about how we need to "repent" our "sins" before they are willing to treat us as human beings.
Something in me keeps hoping that MAYBE just MAYBE something one of us writes will strike a note in their hearts. But then I remember how the Bible talks about God himself hardening Pharaoh's heart, and how the suffering continued. David, AbeL, Brian G, Carol and Get that Fool (to name a few) are so caught up in their self righteousness they probably will never understand that compassion and justice shouldn't have a price. In a lot of ways they are no better than street gangs intent on protecting their territory, power, money and loyalty within the group.
I've known for a while it useless to try to reason with some of these people. They aren't interested in anything other than protecting their own power and turf. So I guess the best thing to do is just talk with people who support my ideas. Or at least folks like you that seem willing to actually discuss ideas.
It's funny but in some ways I think Lilithsatan'swhore is more of an honest woman than Get That fool or Carol. At least she's honest about making men pay for her body. Carol would be appalled to be compared to a concubine. But isn't "traditional" marriage nothing more than a guy paying a woman for using her body? How's that theme song from the TV show Cybil go?
Nice work if you can get it. And if you get it won't you tell me how?
I just read a response on another thread where Get that Fool tried to portray two people getting married simp0ly because the girl got knocked up as being more noble and pure than anything two men or two women could feel for each other.
It's funny how much they complain about Same Sex marriage being nothing but some perverse sex desire yet they'll glorify a shotgun wedding.
I can't speak for everyone but for me marriage isn't just about sex. In fact sex has very little to do with it. Maybe that is why they have so much trouble understanding.
a parent give there children an expensive gift for Christmas think that will bring them happiness. Instead the child plays with the box. We as people always are looking for tomorrow to change for our good and miss the chance of enjoying the day that was given to us. We look over the fence and think the grass is better. Many people live their life on If. If this would happen, if that would happen and miss the opportunity to enjoy the present moment. As long as there been a world, there has been conflict. I do not expect it to change no way soon. My advice is to enjoy the trip through life before we get to our end.

Marriage is male/female because humans are male/female. That's how we reproduce, society needs marriage because culture gives us an ideal model for social interaction, law and biology.

Gays have always married under the same standards as everyone else. No special marriage rights for sexual orientation or predilection.

Examples? Look at your posts! Your arguments are all based on emotional responses, not logic.

Gender distressed? What is it with you and "gender distressed?" I'm hardly distressed about my enormous penis.

I sing and I dance
when I glance in my pants
It's a feeling like a sun shiney day
I take a look at my enormous penis
And everything is going my way.

Are you incapable of recognizing a trend? How many States permitted gay couples to marry 20 years ago? 10 years ago? 5 years ago? Today? Jesus, Brian. Don't you have enough sense to get off the tracks when you see a train coming?

And the ONLY decision SCOTUS can make on DOMA is that it is unconstitutional. Marriage is a State's rights issue, PERIOD. And SCOTUS won't touch PropH8.

How many State Constitutions define marriage as male/female 20 years ago? 10 years ago? 5 years ago? Today? The law is on our side.

No, there is no copy of any pre 21st Century law allowing same sex marriage. We'll amend the Constitution to preserve the definition of marriage.

If marriage only meant male/female, why was it necessary to change the States' constitutions?

To stop activist leftists courts finding new 'marriage equality rights' for their mascot victim group. We want one law for all, not an activist judiciary Balkanizing marriage.

Jesus, Brian! How could "activist leftist courts" (hahahahah) find "new rights?" It must have already been there, or you nuts wouldn't have tried to stop it. Who do you think you're kidding, Brian? You are so dumb that I bet you look in the mirror to see if your eyes are open.

There's a reason why hetero women so frequently say, "Men are pigs!"

Come to think of it, it may be related to why hetero men refer to each other as "Dog" ?

Hmmm.
