United Travel Schools

Anyone have any information regarding the closing of this school? It had another entity entitled United Schools, Truck Master. l atteneded the school on 32 Hercules in Clearwater when it closed. Any help would be grately appreciated. Ken Davis, Detroit MI

I also great debts from this school from when in attended this school and the Department of Education will not remove this from my records and I'm still Paying for it, and don't even work in the field that I Trained for, So Sad!!!!!!!

I enrolled at this school in September 1987, completed the "Home Study" portion in one month, by mid October 1987, and then was told that I had to wait until there was an opening in the computer portion (SystemOne), before I could attend this part and graduate. I was told that the soonest opening would be in March 1988. I called in mid February, 1988, and was given a date to begin the Computer training, in early March and when I arrived for the first day of class, the doors were locked and a sign posted on the door announcing that the school was closed. I was told by their main office (out of state, I think it was Texas, but I am not sure) that since they had closed that location and the nearest Travel school was more than 50 miles away, that I would not be required to repay my student loans (less than $3000 at the time). When I filed my income tax for 1991, they kept my refund of almost $900, stating I owed for my delinquent Student loan, I then completed a form that IRS sent me, stating I DID NOT owe the loan, due to the school closing before I could graduate. End of discussion, until 1994 when I had a (very small) settlement coming and this loan showed up as an outstanding debt. My attorney for the injury claim investigated and then I received (and still have a copy of) a letter from the United States Attorney in Tampa, Fl, stating that the school closed in 1988, filed bankruptcy in 1990, and therefore I DO NOT oew this money. Ok for the next 12 years until last October when I get a nasty letter from Dept of Ed, demanding the repayment of this loan, AGAIN !! They now have decided to garnish my wages, and the debt is almost $12,000, with interest and penalties. But since I am now a State employee, they can "get me" Any suggestions out there?
I think we need to get a lawyer and file a Class Action Law Suit..........

Me too, I ended up going to Nursing school in 1992, and now they want over $12,000 on a less than $3000 student loan for a school that closed BEFORE I could graduate.. This is illegal to enforce, according to an IRS offset statement I signed, but I guess Dept of Ed is immune to the laws of the USA, right?

I too attended the school on Hercules, in Clearwater in 1987 and "attempeted" complete the computer portion in March 1988, but it had already closed. They also stated right in their contract that the offer Job Placement service and that it impossible when they closed before we could even graduate. This has got to be FRAUD.

that I never got.I got ripped off did a small home
study portion.Never heard from united truck masters

I never got to attend the United Truck Masters Campus.I see so many different
names for this school? If you all are still paying of dept for a school that's vanished.I should be able to get a refund

My sister and I attended the school and owe a ton of money for student loans, of which they have gone after my parents because they co-signed the loan and so the Dept. of Education is taking part of my parents Social Security Check which is not much to began with. I can't get any info on how to help. Suggestions, ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Let's all get to gether and file a class action any
paper work you still have from school will help you prove you case.
