Just wanted to put it out there that a minor charged with rape last year has been allowed to enroll back into Fort Osage High School. While crimes of minors are not public information, I was able to confirm his convicted crime with the parent. I am outraged that this boy would be allowed back into the high school instead of being told he may only attend the boys school for troubled teens! Who knows what other types of crimes have been committed and these kids allowed back into the school. This boy also helped a girl runaway this summer. The police did not find her to be in danger with the "convicted rapist" and refused to assist in the finding of this child. It was a 4 day event to find her. This boy assisted her in escaping to Buckner and Kansas City. Upon finding him, the police still did not go retain him. Even though he was on probation with the law and had assisted with a runaway. I suggest to everyone that you know who your daughters are associating with and every piece of information you can get about who they are associating with. You can control what goes on at home, but not at school. This boy is a danger to everyones kids and should not be there!

On another note, everyone should be advised that it is only a crime if your child has drugs on them, having them in their system apparently is not illegal in the city of Independence. There is also nothing you can do about your kids being on drugs in the eyes of the law unless you get them caught with it on them! Wonder why there is such a big problem with drugs in our schools?

Of course she wouldn't put the name on her post unless she wanted to be sued. Dumbass, when someone is convicted of a crime and is a minor they are not held to the same consequences as adults!!!!

the hole thing is a little scary now a days with the minor violence rates sky rocketing, the hole thing in florida, just everything. i am a graduate of fort osage the class of 2005 and i have three little girls of my own. i live far from missouri now but it is still not a great feeling to hear about minors convicted of rape allowed back into the public school system without some sort of servalence. i know first hand that the teachers there have little to no real control over the student body and i pray that this offence does not reoccure. when i attended the school not three years ago there were several suicides and beatings on minorities. thought fort osage was by far not the worse school in the area it had its down falls. please be careful everyone and try to be open minded to solutions for these events. if we all freak out it is nothing but chaos.

first off, your a dumb fucking idiot for bring up anything about drugs and the fact that you say it's not illeagal to under the influence proves your idiocy. second, there is no big drug problem in this cities schools, a few potheads maybe, but thats about it. third, i believe that your a fascist pig for even sugesting that this student not be allowed back in school, ruining his life is not going to change the fact of what he did, he made a horrible mistake, he paid his dues, let it go you bitch. forth, FOHS has an almost millitant control over the student body now, the place has become like a prison to some, so stop jumping the gun by thinking shool security needs to amp up. and finally, it's people like you, overly protective, dominearing parents, that make your child want to act out and rebel, also, it's the reason so many laws that infringe upon our rights(some of you may remember a little something our president called "the patriot act"). so, how about we live our own fucking lives and stay out of others?

Ya know, stuff like this is everywhere! There are drugs and closet rapists even in the smallest of schools. Trust me I know i went to FOHS and then I moved and went to a school where my graduating class was 57....no matter where you go or how much you pay... It will be there. Sorry to be the messenger that brings bad news.

Most parents of FOHS students are fully aware of the drug problem in the school. Yes, we realize marajuana is the main source. If the students on the footbal team alone were drug tested Fort would not have a team. This is a fact. However, only the parents of these individuals can stop them. The school can enforce drug testing for athelics, but, we can do nothing to enforce parents to take responsibility & be good parents to their kids. It is sad, at some point we can only pray that someone will touch these childrens lives & break the chain that leads are youth to far less then they deserve.

I have a suggestion..be a better parent. don't let your kids gets high on drugs. cops aren't babysitters. raise your children so someone else doesn't have to.

Obvisously you do not have children. In my opinion, ALL sex offenders, regardless of their age should not be allowed near a school. If you don't want to do the time, dont do the crime. It's called responsibility. Look it up.

Hmm lets see here, get a life. So what if he commited a crime? It's his fucking business. He is not held to the same contempt that adults are held in, hence why he is allowed back into his school! Not allowing him back in is just going to ruin his life. He paid his dues so leave him the fuck alone! It wasn't any of your business in the first place. And had you not been a busy body and snooped into his business no one would know of this. So lay the fuck off bitch. You think he wants his life completely ruined because of a mistake? Can't you let it rest to see if maybe, just MAYBE he changed? Of course not. It's parents like you that push their children away. It's parents like you that have no clue what their children are really doing because they don't want to talk to you! I have four kids, two girls and two boys. They have been clean their whole lives with drugs and alcohol. Sure they could just tell me that they are clean and I believe it, but no, that's not the case.

If you would be better parents to your children, and not so demanding then you wouldn't have to worry about anything, now would you? get a life, and pay more attention to your own children rather than pushing them away be supportive but not demanding. Be protective, but not overprotective. Let them make their mistakes, but don't beat down hard on them when they do. Be there with open arms to embrace them and talk with them about it. Don't be overpowering or they will never listen and they are only going to rebel more.

Drugs are a problem in the Fort Osage School District. I've had a son and step son who have struggled with drug addiction and the ease at which they can obtain them here is shocking. We can't go on pretending these problems don't exist.

I'm way late to this post but wanted to ask, how oblivious are you to the world around you. Drugs are easy to get no matter where you are, especially weed. Also if you are scared now you should not send your daughters off to college, remember rape is rape even when they are passed out drunk or not..that likelyhood is high. Fort Osage isn't bad never has been, before you go crying look into the situations of many other schools around the area. Especially kansas city school district where there is an abundance of violence.
