I attended Gibbs College from 2004-2007 in Livingston NJ (Sanford Brown's previous name)I graduated with honors but had the hardest time finding a legitimate college that would accept the credits. After a long search I finally found a private Catholic overpriced college that would accept 60 of the 91 credits I received at Gibbs. I finally received my BA in Social Studies I ended up switching majors) but now I'm almost 100K in student loan debt because I overpaid for a worthless Associates degree from Gibbs. I'm trying to see if I've missed my opportunity (due o statue of limitations restrictions) to file a suit against them. I would like to attend grad school in the Fall but I'm afraid I will only dig a deeper hole of financial strain for myself in the future

Id like to join in on the law suit if anyone can provide contact to join in.. I signed up at 17 years old and they told me i needed a cosigner to get the loan approved because i was not a legal adult.. I brought a co-signer with me that day and well told them that i had them to sign off on the paperwork but they never got to it. I've heard from.multiple other students that this right there would put the nail in the coffin for the law suit due to the fact that i well explained that my co signer was with me and they still submitted my financial aid without a co signer.. If someone has contacts pleasw contact me at,

Just for the record, the lawyer we had, that by their word and contract agreed to take our case. They have since gone back on their word and cancelled their agreement. DO NOT call Cantor and Burger. They won't help you. I am very dissappointed that they led us to believe their word was important. They lied.

I am a current student of SBC Milwaukee. Due to accredidation and other issues, this campus will be closing as of august 2013. This leaves me more than dissapointed. First of all, there will be no local student support services ie placement etc. Also, I have lost all confidences in this school. My education at Sanford Brown is quite costly and from what i gather, graduates have a hard enough time finding work let alone with a degree from such a reputable school. Does anyone know of a class action suit being brought against SBC Milwaukee?

At only 17 years young this school tricked me into thinking it was going to be beneficial to me.. guaranteed me a job after I completed my Associates degree in radiology. But first, I had to complete a Medical Assisting course that was $14,000. Thank god for financial aid and the fact that I was smart enough to get out after I graduated and recieved my DIPLOMA in Medical Assisting.. yes $14,000 for a diploma.. I really wish a parent, friend, teacher was there to warn me about this. As bad as it already was, my parents left me at a young age.. I was trying to do something for my future. This school was such a waste of time. So here I am saving every penny I make serving tables at a local restaurant. Ive tried for years to get out of these loans..... only option they offer is death. Someone please help me so i can get out of this situation. Email me [email protected]

I need help in resolving an issue with Gibbs College (Norwalk) Sanford-Brown. When I was accepted I was told that I had received financial aid. After 2 semesters I realized that the "classes" were a joke. I was taking graphic design and one the first day of class during my third trimester, the” instructor” for Photoshop 2 walked in and told us that she was going to be learning the program along with us and too be patient. WHAT?!?!?!
I went to the main office to switch out of that class and was then told that I had a HUGE bill because my financial aid had never been approved. I withdrew from classes immediately. I could not afford that school without financial aid and would never have attended without it. I told them I would pay for my books and art supplies but nothing more since they had lied to me. That was 15 years ago. About every 5 years I get a call from a collections agency stating that I owe $16,000 and that I didn't get financial aid because I dropped out. I write letters, call Sanford Brown and then the account gets pulled from that agency and I don't hear anything back. Well I got another call last night from a new collection agency.
I don't know what to do. They tricked me into believing I had financial aid and then wanted me to pay everything cash after I already completed 2 semesters. THEN they put in my file that I stopped attending classes when the truth is that I withdrew using their standard procedures. Does anyone have a similar problem and do you have an attorney?

I have read a lot of comments on this site and I do NOT feel as though anyone is bashing the school. Like most of you I attended in 2008 and was under the impression that I would be ok... I graduated with honors but could not walk in the ceremony. Even though I found out a month before, the President or whatever Ms. Bonapart is at the Landover MD location had me put off the campus for being upset and confronting her about it. Then after that 6 months later and no job, I decided to try and talk with her again... Rude, cold, etc... she didn't help. Well due to complaints and low addmission all of the DC metro locations (DMV) are being closed. I have email several people off this site with earlier comments but I will be contacting my attorney to see if a lawsuit can be filed and started asap. For anyone that had great or ok experiences good luck and I hope you don't run into the problems most of us are... Especially the ones calling names (bashers), I guess your credentials now aren't being questions and taken away years later... For all looking for school, PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH. Make sure they are accredicted, transferable, etc... I did find a place that can turn them into credits but they only deal with a limited amount of schools. Look into ACE Transcript Services.

They said that it was a time frame issue...that my daughter was past her file date for suit. I copied and pasted the law from Florida and the date starts from the time she found out NOT when she started school. There is a section in the law that states 4 years from initial knowledge of the fraud...she did not find out till 2009 when she graduated and could not sit for her certification due to the fact that her course of study was not an accredited course (which they told her it was). So from 2009 to now, we still fall in the time frame. We have been fighting this for 3 years. They took our case, stated they were men of their word, signed a contract and then they refused our case. I was very hopeful that we actually had someone that would help. Even with the facts and the law handed back to them they said there is nothing they can do. They are just like the rest...No One can be taken for their word anymore.

I want to also comment that I don't care what school you went to the entire economy is having trouble finding jobs with there degrees. My friend graduated from slu last year in psych and still cant find a job. The economy is poor right now, I know all of you can find jobs eventually. I switched my degree to nursing because I know the medical field is my only chance of getting a job quickly and not losing it. You others are going to have problems but don't blame it on SBC and by the way I am a firm believer in mind over matter and all of you a manifesting an eternity of debt and a long wait in the unemployment line. I recommend the movie the can buy it in barnes and noble.
I attended SBI in 2003 in Houston, TX on Forum Place Drive. I attended for only 3 months because of the horrendous "teaching" there. Sometimes I wonder if my instructor was literate. She would sit on a stool behind the podium (on most days) with her cell phone and ear piece in her ear talking on the phone. During our english class this instructor would stumble around on the material absolutely clueless as to what she was doing. Finally the students in my class went to the dean and complained. The inst. Was fired. We then had to "double up" with another class...::smh:: These instructors were the same as the last. To anyone thinking of going to a trade school....DONT!!!!! CHECK OUT YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE FIRST! I am now a nurse and my education here was from professional's in a prof environment. SBI AND THE LIKE ARE PLACES OFF FRAUD!!!

Yes, SBC is closing the Hazelwood, MO location, where I attended, as well as the Collinsville, IL location. They even know that they are bad schools, but it's too late for me and many others who were ripped off by them. I owe over $9,000 still.

That's sort of what SBI did. They remodeled and changed their name to SBCollege instead of Institute. The school I signed up for no longer exist but the LOANS do. Ironic isn't it?

You obviously didn't look into Sanford Brown. It's an unaccredited school and over the past 15 years health student graduates with certificates from Sanford brown have barely been able to find jobs. The programs are worthless, expensive and you barely learn half of what you need too.
