I graduate from SBC in 2005 with a bachelors degree in Business Admin. Its been 7 years since than and I could not get a job in my field nor could I transfer my credits, GPA 4.0 the degree and diploma are WORTHLESS but I do have over $50,000 to pay off which is not gonna happen in next 100 years I worked very hard to earn it and I took my education very serially. I have a job but NOT the one I went to college for, I work on the production line and earn the same $$$ as the people that never went to college. I would NOT recommend SBC to any one, u better of without any college.
All I want to get rid of all the student loans that are killing me, because I will not pay them of by the time my children start college. That is rely disappointing. SBC ruined my life and my credit !!!

I attended this fake ass school. I sued them, they settled. What ever you do, DON'T ENROLL AT SANFORD BROWN. It is much better and a heck of a lot cheaper. Not to mention if you attend a "real" school you can get classes that transfer to a four year institution. Don't let depression, frustration and impatience motivate you to make a desperate move. My heart goes out to people like us that have been scammed by these money hungry institutions that prey on peoples hopes and dreams of having a better life for themselves as well as their families. I had attended a major university and decided to take this route to accelerate my life's desires only to end up screwed by people that saw me as another commission. For those of you that have any doubts about my comments, just check to see if your credits will transfer and that will confirm how full of crap Sanford Brown is.
how do you sue the school I live in Milwauke WI .There is more than just one of us all of us in this program wants to file

Jaquie, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT take that course through them if you want to actually have credit for it. Not only are they NOT an accreddited college in that field, but they lied to so many and charged way more than they should have. We are currently trying to find a lawyer to help with a class action suit against them. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email us. [email protected]

Still trying to find information on the class action suit against Sanford Brown in Jacksonville Florida. We've been trying to get someone to help, the Attorney General has been left several messages and we're still waiting 2 years after this mess started. My daughter and I are both signers for the original loan which is 3 times the cost it should have been. Now because of this crap, she can't get financial aid due to outstanding debt on her other student loan, which we are fighting. She graduated from that school only to find out they lied. She has to start over.

I graduated from the Ultrasound program at Sanford Brown Institute in NYC in 2007 and I too regret it! I was sold a magnificant dream on how the school was fully accredited, how my credits earned there would be transferable to any school, and of course how easy it would be to obtain employment with their job placement crew once I completed the program. I remember when I first went and spoke to the counselor about the proram, everything happened so quickly. They had me sign a bunch of documents with Sallie Mae and not fully explaining what they meant. They were so preoccupied with just getting me to sign up for the course and promising me that though the course was going to be a bit pricey, it would all be worth it because I would be making so much money in the long run and that it would eventually all pay off. I was so devastated to learn halfway through the program that it was all bull. I'm looking to see if anyone knows about a class act lawsuit going on in nyc. I think it's so unfair that I have to pay Sallie Mae almost $600 a month in student loans for a program that wasn't even accredited. If anyone knows about an attorney or if you're currently involved in a lawsuit against these people, please reach me at [email protected]

I love SBC. The program is amazing in my opinion. I know there are always critics when it comes to things, but I've never had anything but help from my school. Any issues I've ever had, they've helped me with and I've never encountered any of the issues anyone is talking about. Maybe once people graduate they expect others to find their job.. being lazy isn't even an option for anyone on these 36 pages. Sometimes we have to face facts and realize people can critisize others on the Internet, but what are they doing to change their situation? Nothing. Except filing a suit..
You obviously had one of the only courses that they actually were accredited for. As for being lazy, you have no idea. Not only are you out of line with that statement, but you have no idea what these students have gone through and still going through. Before you pass judgement why don't you check the facts. If they were lazy, do you think they would be going to school again for the same thing they've already completed. Really??? What exactly was your course of study?

So the only thing im really hearing is i cant get a job..a cant get a job...they dont get you a job, they can help get you interviews but not a job! how about you be an adult and get your own job..but im sure most of you didnt pass the state test to get a job! I've been at SBC for almost a year, my teachers have been great, and they explain anything i need them to! I AM NOT A REP, im a single mom of a 2 yr old who doesnt want to be a waitress anymore! My MBC teacher used to be on the board for AAPC and the college IS ACCREDITED!!! Do some research! Dont just jump into a college blindly! I looked for a school for 3 months and went to every school i could think of...and i chose SBC!
First of all MattsMom, the school lied. They sold the classes stating the course was an accredited course. Didn't find out until my daughter actually went to sit for the exam that they weren't. She now has to take the course AGAIN for 1/3 of the price that they overcharged, she has been working the whole time she's in school and now AGAIN she's working while going to school. Hopefully you won't go through the same thing. Not only has she worked her butt off, but anyone that she has tried to get a job with for her field of study will not even talk to her BECAUSE she was a Sanford Brown student. Good luck with what you're doing but STOP blasting these students when you don't know what they're going through!

I really appreciate reading your comment. We were just about to sign our son up for their medical assistant specialist program but after reading this, we will not waste our money and convince him to go to boyce campus instead. Thanks again and hopefully you have done well since this posting in '09.

I have just been advised that anyone going through the issue with Sanford Brown needs to file a complaint with their State Attorney General office. The more people involved the better the chance the state has of getting these complaints heard. The school also has their attorneys fighting these claims so the State Attorney Generals have their work cut out for them. Make sure you have all documentation and information ready so we can nail these scammers for what they've done and are still getting away with!

Controversy

On 1 August 2007, twelve former college students filed a lawsuit against Sanford-Brown College and its parent company, Career Education Corporation, alleging that Sanford-Brown engaged in aggressive and misleading recruiting tactics and misled them about the transferability of Sanford-Brown's credits and the nature of its curriculum, training, and faculty.[2]

Other interesting sites to look at - PLEASE READ!! There are only few of the Sanford Brown Schools that have actual accredited sites. They do in fact have State accreditation to have the school, however, they do not have complete accreditation for all courses to allow students to sit for their exam. PLEASE thoroughly research your course study PRIOR to signing over your financial future.

I did a whole lot of research yesterday, since SBC (Fenton, MO) is a school I'm considering. Lisa is correct and those links are very helpful. Not only do you want the school itself to be accredited, but you also want to look for "programmatic" accreditation. For example, I'm looking into the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, and to sit for your ARDMS exams you have to have completed a program that is accredited by the CAAHEP. Either that or have a year of work experience with an unaccredited program, which is extremely difficult because no one wants to hire someone with an unaccredited education!

In addition, I have a bachelors degree that is less than 10 years old, and they're still going to try to make me take all the gen eds. That is ridiculous to me. I tested out of all my gen eds the FIRST time I went to college (at a brick-and-mortar, real 4-year university). The advisor I've been working with told me I got the highest score on their entrance exam that she has ever seen, and yet I have to take Algebra, which I completed in 8th grade? I have a degree in Psychology, and they're still going to make me take intro Psych!

I'm so glad I haven't enrolled yet. This is a LOT of money at stake here, and I'm becoming increasingly convinced that's all they want from me. Please everyone do your research before you commit to ANYTHING - and that goes for any school.

I am currently going to OCC and there is a 3 yr wait to get into the program. Thanks for your help.

I went there too and they ripped me off with a Medical Assistant job. I graduated in 2010 and haven't founf a job since. I graduated with honors too. I ended going back to school for CNA at another school because I desperately needed money. SBI want me to pay them $631 for unpaid school payments because they claimed I took out a partial loan. Who fault is that?! They make you do the student loan to enter intot he school on your own without assistance. How was I suppose to know that I was taking out a partial loan. I was paying $55 a month to attend school and now I'm stuck with this balance on top of the student loan payments which is prohibiting me from sitting for the RMA Exam, and getting transcripts to attend another school with a MA career. I'm going to pay them the money anyway because I plan on going to school for Registered Nursing. They won't get in the way of that.

Why can't all of these comments be turned over to an attorney general of America or something. You have all of our information, including how to get a hold of us. After these student loans, gas, food, BOOKS, etc. to pay to graduate from this school, who has money left to go to an attorney.
