With all the negative things people are saying about everything, I'd like to hear some thoughts on what we all like here in Indy please. Very interested to hear from anyone.

Usual bunch of grouches on Topix - Independence is great. Not perfect, but no place is. I like it.

You don't have to try hard to sleep with a women here. They rarely have any self-respect, and will give it up the first date/first time meeting them.

the best thing about Independence could be the people who do not write on Topix. Most of the complainers here would gripe if they were hung with a new rope.

Well, I have been living out of state for the past three months. I live in a "small" bedroom community of 50,000, with a metro are population of 575,000. To say that I feel smothered is an understatement. I lived in Indy for 5 years and made some great friends. We really do miss the quiet small town life, the warm and generous friends, and taking walks downtown without fear of being mugged. The folks in Indy that complain, should move out for awhile to a busy, cold hearted city, with a 15 mile commute that takes over an hour to get home. We are coming "home" on the 26th of December and can't wait to get back. Our Indy family is already preparing a homecoming; something my Southern friends did not do upon moving back to the hospitality state. If you want my opinion, there are so many good things to say about Indy, I don't have time to list them. To sum it up into one value, I would have to say that it's unconditional love we have from those that became our lifelong friends in the five short years we lved there. So, if you still want to bash your little spot of small town paradise, go live in the opposite end of the spectrum; go from a town of 10,000 to a city of 575,000 and see if you can still count the stars at night or listen to the kids playing outside without fear.

Overall there are many attractive qualities of Indy, many of which others have already mentioned. These include relatively safe and secure neighborhoods, the library and zoo, ICC, the William Inge theater, and the caring and responsive residents. I am in the process of moving to Indy from Dallas, an area of 3,000,000 people and am looking forward to being moved. As I was driving tonight in Dallas I was thinking of being able to clearly see stars last week in Independence and how I enjoyed it.

The fact that you put there names out like that I would consider as insult, the only thing these people have in commen is yes there good people and there well off money wise as profesionals in there jobs. Why not talk about the less fortunate friends you had. Who are not as blessed as them.

Free Zoo and a safer place for children than a large city.An excellent library and Neewoollah. There are lots of negatives but you will find that in any town.

Great great and take your high spirit ideas from Dallas and spread it around for a dying town. You should run for city commisioners office tell them how it is.

ok burnett why was so much money put into building brand new schools in the country club erea built with millions of funds. Instead of south of town, haha we know the answer. And before you bash me why is irrigation systems installed at a new school north of town. Sounds very scum baggish to me.

I live on the South side of town and like it there. I don't find the new school(s) on the North side or their irrigation system detracts from my well being at all; in fact, I feel sure that the schools are an asset for the community.
