just because they have a recipe doesnt mean they are the same. they arent the same. nobody has duplicated the "nancy's" cookie. im another kid that grew up eating nancy's cookies...matter of fact i was unimpressed with the place. good try tho.

Their cookies and cakes are gross! Their cookies have so much frosting on the that you cant even taste the cookie. My 2 year old threw up after the cookie! Also have you seen their cakes? The one's in the window are not "professional looking" and I had ordered a cake for my daughters birthday-it looked like a cake that someone with NO expirence would make. The frosting was not smooth and the writing was like a kindergardener's! I was so dissapointed-I payed $65.00 for a 2 layer white,12x12 cake. I will never go back! WHAT A RIP OFF! And they dont even sit in the front of the store, you have to wait for them to ask you what you want! They are a waste of space!

If you didn't like the one in window then why did you order one? Maybe they're not sitting up front because they are baking. I saw a bell of front to ring, don't have to wait long.

I was giving them a chance! My friend went there and wanted me to try it. I heard that their brownies are made from a box! True! The girl saw the boxes outside in the trash! You people are paying for CRAP!The ladies in there are such talkers about everyone eles but who they should consider talking about is one of themselfs!Like she just had to have a HUGE house that they knew they couldnt afford....I could go on and on about what EVERYONE knows about her. WOW!Oh and she got divorced and probably thought "oh I can make my kids birthday cake...I'll open a bakery!" Well it is the WORSE bakery ever! You shouldnt have to ring a freakin bell when you want service. Hire a person to sit there if you are baking! She can take her lop-sided mouth and attitude and SHOVE IT! she wont be there much longer...you wait!

We had our daughter's 4th Birthday Party there. The service, cakes, atmosphere was excellent. My daughter loved every minute of it and so did all of the guests. The price is very reasonable too. They take care of everything..I would highly recommend this to anyone. Thanks for offering this fun service in Independence. We are fortunate to have Uptown Sweets in our town.

I'm so sorry to hear those few negative comments from YUK. I think Angie and Carey have a huge support group from this town. They went in it and giving it all they can to make it successful! Two wonderful mothers and hard workers. Sometimes people have been faced with challenges and had to cross valleys. Angies' husband lost his great job after completing their dream home in this economic struggle. So then who can really afford a home of that size!! Then losing her father to cancer a few months ago, Who I KNOW would give up everything to still have him here with her. No one is perfect and has their own flaws. Things like this "TOPIX" can be really hurtful and harmful to others.

Dear Yuk,
Everyone is allowed their own opinions. Please feel free to stop by the store and speak personally to Angie or myself. We like all criticism good and bad. It helps us to provide better services. About the brownie box; we use a brownie mix along with our cake mix to create cake balls. The flavor of real cocoa proves this true in our brownies. Please stop by for a free sample! About our trash; our trash is located behind our store and bagged in black trash bags. If there is something special your friend is searching for please let us know and we will kindly set it aside for her. Therefore she is not creating a mess for our trash men. Our frosting is super good, if your daughter doesn't care for as much we would personally frost a cookie with little to none. We are here for all our customers! Our 12x12 cakes do not cost $65. Feel free to stop in for prices! We keep all of our receipts with names and numbers on each. We keep these for future references. Uptown Sweets is our business lives. We keep our personal lives and finances private. As well as I'm sure u do. We are all struggling in a rough economy. There are many luxuries many people can longer afford because of the economy. I'm sure you have also struggled in your own way. Angie and I are two super parents who always do whats best for our children. We are also hard workers and strive to do our best in everything we do.

Well said. It's sad people have to defend themselves from misery like "YUK". He/she/IT, must be a miserable person/thing.
I personally have eaten some of your goodies, and they are mind blowing great, with very reasonable prices.
I wish you and your partner much success, and appreciate your hard work in keeping a business going in Independence.
