From the Montgomery County Chronicle website:
Two truck drivers sustained injuries Tuesday afternoon when the semi-tractor trailers they were driving collided head-on on U.S. 400 highway about four miles east of the Montgomery/Labette County line.
Cherryvale assistant fire-rescue chief Chad Russell said firefighters and law enforcement arrived at the scene to find two empty milk tanker semis ablaze. The drivers of the semis were taken to Labette Health for treatment of injuries. The fire was brought under control. Units remained on scene for several hours for clean up and an investigation, Russell said.
The Kansas Highway Patrol has released the names of the two drivers. They are Steven Howard Liniger, age 48, of Ava, Mo., and Darrin L.T. Cameron, age 32, of Cabool, Mo. The patrol said Liniger was westbound on U.S. 400 when he went left of center and struck the eastbound semi driven by Cameron.
Agencies responding were Cherryvale Fire-Rescue Department; Montgomery County Rural Fire Department, Cherryvale division; Osage Township Fire Department; Labette Health EMS; Labette County Sheriff; Kansas Highway Patrol and Montgomery County Sheriff.

Info from Cherryvale Fire-Rescue Department's press statement indicated "two empty milk tankers." Gotta go with the primary news source on this one.

Andy,
No disrespect to Cherryvale FD. Great group of people to work with and they were on scene for a shory bit of time. However, they ARE NOT the primary investigating agency.
Since the scene wasn't cleared until shortly before 0200, and getting home at a late hour.....I would be have to say 'Bill' is correct.
