Looks like Chappuie is running for commission again. We need new faces and new blood not some recycled big-time liberal who will kiss Mickey's rear and be another one of his water boys. We've had that with White, Mott, and Unruh and don't need it again. We need people to represent us, not take crooked Mickey at his word, stop some of the crazy a** spending, and get this place back on track.Chappuie's not one of those people.

Chappuie was previously on the commmission and created part of the mess we have now. Why bring him back to cause more damage?

I agree Chappuies been there and done that. We don't need a repeat surley he knows how he did when he was there before and he expects people to put him back in there and create more problems. A commissioner can vote no but he seemed to have a problem with that when he was on the commission before. Need people that will stand up and speak up and not worry what a few will think or say.

not only that but he did not do what he said he would do and was completely different after he was elected he let a lot of people down for going along with the inside group instead of speaking out like he stated he would do. He really fooled me for I voted for him but NOT again

If you want more of what we've had on the commission, vote for Chappuie. If you want to see things get headed in the right direction again and get better, don't vote for him. I voted for him the last time he won and voted for Unruh, White, and Mott.My voting record s*cks but I've learned not to vote for people because they're business men or have been on the commission before because they'll stab you in the back at the same time they're raising your taxes.Need new faces not old reruns to represent us.

SEK guy seems to have a vested interest in City Hall or at least in keeping things as they are.

No, he's just hoping that you're all intelligent enough to get a simple message. INSTEAD OF BITCHING ABOUT THINGS ALL THE TIME, TAKE A STAND, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, AND RUN FOR OFFICE. Personally, I believe he's giving you all way to much credit.

It is easy from the sidelines to knock someone who is willing to put his or her name out and run for public office. I grew up with Phillip and he has always been a stand up guy. What happened in the past is in the past. We cannot recreate the same circumstances. I would much prefer a commissioner who is elected with an open mind than I would one, or two, who comes in with an agenda. The guy who holds court in the donut shop only gripes and has all the answers. Anyone who has all the answers probably does not understand the problem. A vote for Phillip is a vote for forward thinking and stability.

I was born as raised in Independence and I lived there during Chappuie's last run on the Commission. That being said, I have a few questions for you guys. First off, Cindy, you say we have a mess now and that Chappuie was one of the guys who helped create it; my question is: What mess? Can you give me some specifics on what is so wrong with Indy? The things I remember from Chappuie's last term include the addition to the Public Library, which recently was voted Best Small Library in America. Then there was the building of the Aquatic Center, which brings people from all over SEK to our town, helping a wide variety of local businesses. You're right, what a mess. Who needs nice things that make people want to spend money in your town?
"just wondering", you say Chappuie really fooled you last time. How? You claim he didn't do what he said he'd do, but I'm having trouble following you on this one. You seem to be saying he failed to speak out last time, but as I recall he spoke out to his detriment more often than not. That's kind of the reason he got voted out before. He spoke his mind and refused to silently follow the interests of the wealthy.
So if you want someone who stands for the interests of the common man and who genuinely wants to improve Independence, vote Chappuie.

He was a blow hard disaster then and he is one now. He is one of the ones that hid the fact that the ADA was not being followed and is one of many responsible we didnt fix the water and sewer lines so we could have all of the pet projects and replaced the roof on the new library and others that are bankrupting our city now. Vote for Chappuie again?? HELL NO!

It sounds to me like there might be a family connection to the so called "Jim" in Independence by your description. Any relation "Jim?" When "Jim" was in office everything went down hill. If course so did the supply of Viagra. ED you know, right "Jim."

Sales tax lower in Bartlesville, Tulsa, Wichita and Joplin. Property taxes increased 186% between 1998-2010. Even the so called Republicans here spend like Obama clones. A real disappointment to see Rick Mott vote and spend like he has.
