Voting places in town

Does anyone remember the reason why they changed the designated voting places to only two places a few years ago? I can't help but think that there'd be lots more voter turnout if you only had to go a few blocks like we used to. Especially on a day like today. You used to be able to walk if you had to. It's ridiculous that I have to go clear across town to vote.
By any chance, did the big change come coincidently when they were trying to push the new schools on us? Seems like it ...

cheaper to have fewer voting places. easier to take care of polling places on election day (problems, questions, suuplies)

ADA compliance was a huge factor, the Montgomery County clerk saw it coming and acted accordingly, the city of Indepedence ignored it.

Well it should help with the perceived problems of voter fraud as we most certainly can not have those pesky minorities falsifying anything can we?(kobach)
And we certainly don't want those in such dire need of spiritual guidance voting now do we?(Brownback's dark places)
