I'm a little disappointed with what I heard from my wife concerning the obscene language used by the IMS football coach Monday in Iola. The f bomb was dropped more than Rex Ryan on the tv show Hard Knocks. This coach is an embarrassment to the middle school, and our town, and should be heavily reprimanded for his lack of control and improper use of language that our kids should not be hearing from people they should look up to.

This is probably from some parent that has a kid in IMS Football that didn't get to play much and one whose parents think this kid is the "bomb"!

i heard from a highschool football coach (who has a kid on the middle school team) that the IMS coach chewed the middle school kids butts for a good hour. kids can only take so much of that, and eventually they quit. they need to be reassured that they are doing well, but still need to improve. they need talk to, not yelled at.

Hey! Let's give them all participation ribbons, and make sure they have milk and cookies at halftime, and we'll take them to Dairy Queen after the game! I wonder if maybe the other team will go for having a little recess or nap between the first and third quarters! This going to be really fun!

This town, like most communities nowadays, is overloaded with kids who have been babied and pampered their whole lives, and they don't understand the hard work and sacrifice it takes to be a success at school, at sports, or in life.

Whatever rumors people are hearing about the IMS football team and their coaches, I'd like to comment on these. First, I was at the game on Monday night at Iola, and if anyone knows how Iola's stadium is set up the seating is on the south side of the field, in front of the seating is the Iola bench, across the field on the north side is the away bleachers where IMS was located. In front of the IMS bench was an official (line judge), and about 5 yards away from the bench is another official (field judge). During the game at any point if these officials hear any obscene language from players or coaches, they are flagged the first time a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty. The second time it happens, the player nor coach who uses that language is escourted off the field and cannot return. To my knowledge, there was neither a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty or none of the coaches were escourted from the game. So whoever said the coaches were dropping "f" bombs is completely full of it.
Secondly, I watch IMS practice on a regular basis. Not once have the coaches set and yelled at the players for a solid hour, they are too busy coaching the game of FOOTBALL!! to our young student-athletes. If a football player cannot handle a little yelling once in a while, then they are playing the wrong sport and that player is not that mentally tough. If they think the IMS coaches yell a lot, just wait until they get to the high school level.
These coaches are teaching these young men valuable lessons that not only serve them well in football, but in life as well. If anything these coaches should be congratulated because the middle school players are the foundation and pipeline for our high school football team. Most importantly, these coaches are trying to instill high character values in these young kids and that is starting to show at the high school level. Last time I looked we have been pretty successful the last couple three years at that level, winning playoff games and compositing an 8-3 record last year. This season they are off to a 2-0 start and looking pretty good.
GREAT JOB IMS COACHES!!! KEEP TEACHING OUR KIDS THAT SUCCESS COMES IN MORE FORMS THAN JUST WINNING & LOSING.

My son plays IMS football. I asked him point blank if he has EVER heard any IMS football coach "drop the 'f' bomb." He insisted he never has. I agree with Understand the Game. Thanks IMS football coaching staff!
