I didnt know anybody involved in this accident but my heart goes out to all involved,to the family and friends of Jeff and Cindy you have the right to be angry but if you keep that anger in you it will never let you start your healing process.Hopefully this cobra will be punished for what he done, but i cant help but think how his parents are feeling right now knowing what has happened because their son,and how he just threw his life away i feel for his parents right now just as much as the other family. But all the anger and hate even though it is justified is not good for you let the court do its job and try to have peace in your heart and try to start your lives again.I hope and pray for all involved.

He killed my aunt and uncle with his careless act, he has to live with that stupid mistake for the rest of his life, he doesn't know how amazing my aunt was and how she would go out of her way to help someone, he also doesn't know how sweet and kind Jeff was and how thankful we were to have him in our family... They were stolen from us because of him, but yet I won't hate him for his act it was a terrible mistake on his part and he needs to suffer from his consequences
I understand what you are saying completely...this part

"This IS NOT the place nor is it the time. There is a young man that has been faced with alot...people should focus on that and surround him with comfort and hopefully words that will help him move forward instead of becoming a statistic. Grow up ppl...let those who have passed rest in peace and not have it become a topic for this lame ass excuse for attacks."

was NOT in defense of Cobra...this was actually for their son (and all of you). You all have gone through ALOT in the past few months...the focus should be on helping or comforting all of you and I do NOT see this as a place that is going to help that at all. I went to school with Jeff, Cindy and yes Johanna. I can't begin to imagine what your whole family has gone through and will go through. There are those of us out here, no matter if we can't exactly get our words across correctly, that do care and willing to help in any way we are capable of doing.

Someone I know was at Sassy's one night when this Cobra was in there and he was telling the owner that he had been so drunk one night, he couldn't remember driving home. She proceeded to tell him that from now on, she would only serve him a few beers. The next time he came in, he ordered a mixed drink and she wouldn't give it to him, and he got mad. So, I believe this out of control drinking was a habit with him.

You keep posting that over and over again. So please tell us when is the place and time to discuss what this young man did? There are two people dead because of his actions, so I would say now is the time to discuss what he did and maybe somebody else who might think about getting behind the wheel after they have been drinking will think twice about it.

NO this is NOT HIS statement! It is a documented fact. You are one that believes rumors and the media. It's a news story so of course they are going to print what sells. That is the trouble with media today and people who believe it.
Regardless of the situation, and what I do or do not know about those involved...it is a very sad situation. This IS NOT the place nor is it the time. There is a young man that has been faced with alot...people should focus on that and surround him with comfort and hopefully words that will help him move forward instead of becoming a statistic. Grow up ppl...let those who have passed rest in peace and not have it become a topic for this lame ass excuse for attacks.

I totally agree. When a child acts up, you disipline them. Same with adults. He should have thought about what he was doing b4 he acted. He made the choice to drink and drive. He could have walked home, stay @ a hotel or call a cab. He needs to man up to what he did just like the rest of us. You don't "get out of" a ticket or anything by "being a nice guy" that's not how it works. Sorry.

<quoted text>Jeff Blake was a great guy. His wife was great woman. Cobra ended that..He ended by getting in his car and driving drunk, running through a stop sign on a major highway.. If he would "never mean to heart anyone ", he would never had driven drunk nor have ran a stop sign..He did those things because he did not care, not because "he is great Guy that has a heart of gold". I'm sorry if his plight pains you..The rest of us are sorry he lived and our friends are gone..
Maybe that "doesn't matter" to you, but to us, it does.
I agree with one of the other posters...Ask Jeff's son what he thinks.

what does his age have anything to do with anything? So what he was in his 20's? I am too and I haven't killed anyone while drinking. He made the choice. I'm sure cindy and jeff and their family didn't want them to die. They weren't even 50 yet. They will never see their son get married or have kids or have the joy of grandkids. What about them????? F*ck the 21 year old HE MADE HIS LIFE CHOICE JEFF DIDN't !!!!!

Jaheeeeezus dude. No wonder you're just a truck driver.
Cobra is in his low 20's, your ignorance doesn't have an age excuse.
My sympathy and concern goes to all involved.
No need to respond, Out of respect, I'm done arguing this subject on line, I will no longer attempt to point out the hate, and vengence. If you can't see it, you never will. Have a nice life.

gggggrrrrrrr to your last post (not this one) my dad was a truck driver for many years and so is my kids grandpa on their bio dad side. You are taking care of your family. Nothing wrong with that. If I didn't have kids (no I'm not regreating) I probably would be one too. You get to see more of the usa than most ppl ever would. On a second note. About cobra. I COMPLETELY understand how you felt. My best friend ( basically family to me) was killed by a drunk driver. I understand how you feel and that's how I feel abou the old guy ( in his 50's) who killed my friend ( WHO WAS 23 and DIDN't DRINK). And their is nothing wrong with how you feel. No one understands it unless they've been there. And I'm sad to say I've been there and hope no one ever has to be there.

We donít hate cobra and we never will. We will always miss our Aunt Cindy and Uncle Jeff nothing can take that pain away from us. I donít doubt that cobra was a nice kid with a heart of gold. Our aunt and uncle had a heart of gold as well. I understand everyone makes mistakes I make them every day. Sometimes when someone makes a mistake, especially one that could have been avoided and took two lives there needs to be some type of punishment. Cobra will probably not be punished and will go on to live his life while we sit and wonder what lives our aunt and uncle would have lived. If cobra is not punished I will still forgive him and like I said I will never hate him. Hating him will never bring them back. These comments on this thread are not all coming from Jeff and Cindyís family, because our family has been busy planning their funeral then two days later planning our grandpaís funeral. I hope some type of punishment is given, and if alcohol was not involved maybe someone could let our family know that. Meaning a phone call anything besides this Independence gossip column

Of all the things said on this topic.....you spoke with most intelligence and heart. It is a nice to hear that through all the pain your family has endured lately, you still have the ability to know that hate only destroys the one hating and never changes things. Bless you and your entire family and remember your loved ones with a smile, not just through tears, and know that our world is a better place for having had your aunt, uncle, & grandpa in it, and for still having people like you in it.

My heart goes out to you and your family. One thought though. Cobra did not "make a mistake" he intentionally drove somehwere to drink, he intentionally drank to excess (allegedly) and he intentionally drove a vehicle has was not capable of handling and two innocent people are dead. I am not related but I do hope this "mistake" is paid for to the max. He deserves it as does anyone who takes a drink then drives a 3,000 pound bullet down the roadway.
