I don't know, but with the enormous amount of taxes that montgomery county collects for commercial real estate taxes, something needs to go in it fast. Commercial property in Indep is becoming somewhat of a liability, instead of an asset. It is ridiculous. People gripe about their home taxes, you ought to see the commercial rates.

As long as they didn't charge an arm and a leg, like the one on South 10th did, I think it would be great!

Curtis is planning on dividing the building up and making room for several businesses, new ones or one that want to relocate to the west of town. Like the gym in the Arco building (Fit Club), they have been looking for a building and are planning on going in to the k-mart building.

The owner is very open to ideas. There are several options that are available to prospective tenants. The way the building is designed there can be several tenants of varying sizes. There is also space available on the front lot for a retail center.

Thats interesting, being involved with the planning and zoning before, do you know if they would have to adhear to the 7000 ft minimum, or as an existing structure, would they be somehow exempt or grandfathered in some way?

Cheap??? he'll pay for it, every month that goes by it probably costs him like $2,000.00 for real estate taxes. Owning commercial real estate in Montgomery County is a Liability, not an asset.

I would have to meet the current zoning. The way the structure is layed out they could do as Cato's has and rent 7000 and use less. The tenants can go quite aways back into the building to allow more spaces across the front.
