If you are on Facebook and are interested, there is a new Group called the SEK Trader where you can buy, sell, trade, give away, advertise your small biz and non-profit activities in the SEK area. It is located here:

https://www.facebook.com/ #!/groups/sektrader/

or you can use this shortened address (case sensitive):

http://goo.gl/TdILc

We are seeking to grow the group to 10,000 members in order to make it an effective marketing tool for our members. Please join.

Really, spam? Not trying to sell you anything, just informing the public about a group on Facebook, where they can buy, sell or trade items with the other members. Honestly, as nasty as things get on the Topix site, this post is a breath of fresh air..

I am not really interested in signing up for membership in a closed group & receiving endless notifications & spam. Why is it a closed group?

Facebook groups allow you to control your notifications. The options are to receive notifications for all posts, posts from friends or Off. There is no spamming going on here and while I specifically setup this group with limited rules, I do enforce them:

1. Be respectful.(instead of posting what not to do, this should say it all)
2. Do not sell, trade or give away anything illegal.
3. You may post Wanted or WTB posts.
4. All posts should comply with Facebook Terms located here: https://www.facebook.com/policies/...
5. Non-profit organizations may post announcements and fund-raising events.
6. Post a Pic if you can, but don't forget to post a DETAILED description..
7. Use the Facebook Message system to make all arrangements. Please don't post your personal contact info in your post.
8. If your product, service or business is not located in or related to the SEK area, please do not post in this group..
9. Clothing, clothing, clothing.. What to do about clothing? I know that some people in other groups like to post LOTS of clothing, but to me seeing page after page of clothes is annoying, so here is how we are going to do it in the SEK Trader Group. If you have Clothing to sell, please post only 3 items per day, and do it IN ONE SINGLE POST. Hopefully this will prevent an overwhelming amount of clothes from being posted.

----------

As for it being a closed group. I actually started it out as an open group and discoverd that open groups have a much lower rate of membership signups because people browse them and leave. And even if they do contact the seller and buy something they still don't join. The point behind the group is to create a "sellers market" by getting everyone in one place. It's absolutely cool if this is not your thing. I actually created this group because the good stuff in some other groups was getting lost in all the friggin clothes that was being posted.

I'd hate to think you didn't try it because you think it's spammy as that is not the case at all. And remember it's just as easy to leave a group as it is to join one.

Anyways, have a great day and thanks for your comments!

I have used it and bought my recent car off of the site.. I love it. Its more affective than craigslist in my opinion because you can instantly message people and you know its not a scam! Thank you!

You will need to go to the Facebook home page & sign up, and then go to the sek traders page & request to be admitted, or friended.
