anyone else having problems getting a hold of the "always gonna have local service" cablevision ? i have spent over 3 hours holding for service for internet problems and still no help ! ever since they moved this great local office to parsons they might as well be on mars! we used to get fantastic service and help with just one call , now its 3 to 4 hours on hold and you're all kinds of pissed off and still no help! just wondering if anyone else was disenchanted with our local cable service, just my 2c.

It also sucks that during football season you can't get the Chiefs game on Fox,but you can go to Neodesha and they get it,and Independence does not.

Along with many of my friends, I was without phone and internet service nearly the entire day and evening on Sunday. That makes the 3rd time in the less than 2 months that I have had phone service with cable one. I am EXTREMELY unhappy with their service.....or lack thereof!

Use AT&T for internet, high speed for 29.95. There can be some interuptions (obviously hasn't been a problem lately) during heavy rain or snow but there are so many benefits such as lower overall cost for comaparative services and a much better selection of channels especially hd. Only other drawback is the locals are Tulsa stations. Still would never go back.

Don't understand why the local channels on direcTV and Dish aren't Pittsburg and Joplin. Especially Pittsburg, because they give our local weather. Guess they wouldn't sign a deal with the satellite companies, huh? Fortunately, we still have an outside antenna and can get Pittsburg, but not Joplin anymore. I emailed the Joplin stations and they said when they switched to digital, the range is only 50-55 miles, not as far as analog. Thanks government for screwing with out lives again.

I wish Cox could expand into the Independence area. Cablevision is a joke. Havn't had phone service for about a month now and my internet service yesterday was as bad as others have said. Servicemen have come to work on the lines and all we get is a temporary fix. Tired of calling. Seriously considering other alternatives.

Dish Network has the Tulsa stations on it and Channel 2 KJRH has excellent coverage of Labette, Montgomery and Chautauqua counties for severe weather. If it is raining real hard you might lose coverage for a little while but overall I've had excellent service for the last 8 years and the rates didn't go up like cable either. I use AT&T for DSL and haven't had any problems with the connection for the last 6 years. Would never use cable, even if it is faster than DSL.

I've had both dish companies and they say the same thing. The lines for the stations are regulated and I believe we are just inside the Tulsa boundaries. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe both Cherryvale and Neodesha dish customers get the Pittsburg-Joplin feeds.

Neodesha does get the Pittsburg-Joplin feeds. Cherryvale does not. Sycamore does not. From what I hear anybody north of Sycamore in this area receives the Pittsburg-Joplin feeds. I also heard about a year ago that they were going to move the boundary line south to the border so anyone living in Kansas would receive the Kansas local channels. I'm not holding my breath.
By the way, I've had DISH for about 4 years. Would not go back to cable. AT&T
DSL is my isp. Great service.

yes those who have had ten years of dish and ten years of direct tv, and decide to try cablevision(because directtv and dish rates go up) due to the 75$ a month package are getting screwed, they have to sign up for at least a year.sunday was the first time since i have been on cablevision (signed up in january) that i have been without a phone or internet for over 8 hours. i had television service.. but if you have no cell phone you cant call them . but the line would be busy anyway. apparently they had trouble all over town. but no emails to you to explain. i am calling today to request a pro rated bill adjustment for the 8 hours without internet or phone.

There's Hughes and Blue Sky that both provide Internet through a dish, I've never had either, but have friends who do. They are both more expensive than DSL or cable and have reportedly connection speed issues. I also know some that are using Valnet. They seem to be happy with them as far as price and speed of connection. I also don't have personal experience with them either, just going by others opinions.

I wish I could go back to cableone. Had TV and internet for several years in town then moved to the Sycamore area and have dish. I am not overly pleased and find that it is expensive after you have been with them long enough for the special offers go away. I have been with them for over 3 years. It may work in a rain storm or it may not. There does not seem to be consistency. I have Hughes Net for internet and have the higher (not the highest) speed. I liked cableone better and it was much cheaper. I am trying to find something better. Hughes has a download limit and you can forget trying to watch a netflix movie on your TV or computer... They advertise "you can watch your favorite video clip" and they do mean a short one... I so wish I had cable.....

If your original contract has been fulfilled, switch to the other dish company they always have specials running. I gave my existing provider several opportunities to get me to stay but they didn't give me enough incentive. Now that I've switching, their giving away the farm to try to get me back.
