Every year less and less upperclass girls come back to play for this womman because they are tired of her benching them! Every year this coach starts her newspaper interview about her "young team"! Fox just had a very nice senior night ceremony at the beginning of the game and she didnt play the seniors! Why in the world should the juniors come back next year if they are going to be benched! Fox lost to a lesser team and the juniors and seniors just dont care anymore!

I agree with you 100%! Another BIG reason that varisty has such a young team is because she snipes all of the JV players and brings them up to varisty. Tell me, what is the point of having 6-10 players sitting n te varisty bench when JV arely has enough players to field a team? The Fox High School softball program is headed down a slippery slope very fast!! A change needs to be made!!

If we want a winning season then a change needs to be made!

To play any sport for Fox or Seckman, you have to be SOMEBODY. Somebody's brother was great at football, so little sister gets to play Varsity softball for 4 years. Somebody's Daddy helps buy something for the school, and baby girl gets to start multiple varsity sports as a freshman. Somebody's Daddy is a College coach, so the college coach's kid gets to start varsity as a freshman. Somebody's Mommy works for the district, so suddenly her son is the stud of high school sports.

90% political. I'm not going to say 100% because I've seen a few that were able to earn their spots by talent and hard work, but for the majority......no.

If you're a nobody, you're out of luck. Figured that out a long time ago. Glad my kids are out of there.

I'm sure your vast football knowledge coaching a JCYA team has prepared you to make a comment like that. What a hoosier.

Any complaints about this coach seem to fall on deaf ears! The girls dont want to play for her and every year a big rumer goes around that she wont be back next year, then here she is again at camp. These girls are winners on select teams all year and deserve a better coach. As parents we check out the teams and coaches and girls on a team before joining and committing to play and are expected to just sit back and let this "coach" mess up what our daughters have worked hard on all year.

Well, Seckman's Varsity coaches aren't any better.
Too bad you need a teaching certificate and a job in the Fox District to coach. There are many softball coaches that are in our area that are MUCH better at it!

What could be done differently? Well half of the time the Fox head coach isn't even at practice! She needs to be working to imporove the skills of her own players that she originally chose at the beginning of the season instead of finding "better" players on the JV team.

Blah,

It looks like concerned mom and softball mom have decided to not give you specifics about what you asked. Maybe all they wanted to do was complain?

Seckman is 15-4 and ranked #8 in St. Louis right now. You are an a$$

Seckman should be 17-2. There is no excuse to lose games against Sullivan or Parkway West.

You can call me what you wish, however, Seckman's team could actually be better than is sits at the moment. There are a couple JV players that are outstading and even some of the varsity players are questioning why those girls are on JV.

It doesn't matter what Seckman is ranked. They won't get past Oakville.

It has nothing to do with the starting nine at all. It is about the Coach not the players.

It is not about that starting nine at all. This has nothing to do with the players. It has to do with a Coach who makes bad decisions. A Coach who does not show up for practice, steals other players, and is not respected because of her attitude. Again, Coach NOT starting nine.

I do understand what these ladies are saying that Fox seems to be playing 'Musical Players.' I have a daughter on Seckman's JV team, we played Fox's JV twice (a month apart) and definitely saw two different teams.

I don't have the answer. From the information I've been able to gather, Fox's Varsity was not doing well at the beginning of the season, but it does appear that they are doing better. I saw that that they pulled up a freshman pitcher that is doing well as of late. I know they have rearranged other players, too.

I'm guessing that at least one of you has a senior that is sitting instead of playing. That is unfortunate, however, when you compare Varsity to JV or Freshman....Varsity is the only team that 'counts.' The season is short and winning seems to be of the utmost importance. If the coach thinks a kid isn't performing, the coach will bench the kid....that's it. A senior cannot be demoted to JV, but Freshman can play on any of the three teams and Sophomore and Juniors can play JV or Varsity. You can look on the stats on stlhighschoolsports.com and see exactly what batting averages are, strikeout ratio's, pitching records, and much more.

I know that many high school coaches don't go by seniority anymore. They want the fastest and most skilled girls on varsity, and the rest....well, they play JV for 2 or three years and either get cut their senior year, get asked to be the manager of the team, or they just sit the bench.

I think that your coach not showing up to practice should be in violation her coaching contract. The coach is supposed to be there..they are supposed to practice. She gets paid, she should EARN it.

If this coach is that not respected, then maybe no one should show up to tryouts next year on the first day to send a message....If no one is going to listen, then I suppose your only recourse is to act.

I'm sorry your senior girls were treated like that. I can say, though, you don't get a college softball scholarship for playing softball in high school (they do want you to). College coaches don't show up for league games (maybe district finals and up, and I repeat....maybe). That's what College Exposure Tournaments are for.
