The chief of police in Byrnes Mill is out of a job Tuesday.Chief Ed Locke was voted out by the board of alderman effective immediately. It’s unclear why the chief was given the boot, but the city administrator tells News 4 his departure is in regard to personal issues. An internal audit of the police department is pending.Lieutenant Mike Smith will be acting chief as the search begins for Locke’s replacement.

and for all that really knew him. Everyone knows he was getting ready to re locate him and his family. This was a way to avoid paying him the money owed. Check around this is how the Byrnes mill board does things.

Well, another one bites the dust. The City fired the City Attorney and prosecutor and hired the Aronld attorney and his daughter!!!They did this by letter! The Chief did tell us that if the City found out before hand about his new employment they would shit can him and sure thing...All I can say is nothing new..

Hey liar guy, if you think that was Ed posting, your half ass retarted. I'm sure he has better things to do than post on this forum, in fact, I KNOW he does. And its funny you say you have to work in the morning, yet your still up posting at 11pm. Probably still trying to get some sleep after a wicked bender of meth and whatever else white trash does to get high, right? And Ed Locke did a lot of good in Byrnes Mill. For god sake, there has only been one, yes ONE, accident with fatality on his roads since he took over in 97. Its a shame that the board would fire him for "personal reasons". Sounds like they fired him for no reason.

The City NOT the Police department determins how much money to put in the income bracket of the budgit..The City put 330,000.00 expected ticket revenue.. Not the Chief. The Police Department is then expected to write enough tickets to bring that much money in. So WHO is really to blame??

I'm assuming every one of you that posted a thoughtless comment about the Chief was at one time arrested or had a confrontation with him. Don't take your stupidity out on this man. He is the law and he was doing his job.
I for one believe Ed was done wrong by people you probably voted in ... but I will stand by him.
I'm here for Ed!

LOOK AT ALL THE IMMATURITY HERE AGAINST MR. LOCKE. I HAVE KNOWN ED FOR QUITE A LONG TIME, AND I TOO HAVE BEEN TICKETED BY HIM. I CERTAINLY CANNOT BLAME HIM FOR MY IGNORANCE OF THE LAW. HE WAS DOING HIS ASSIGNED JOB.
I ALSO HAVE WORKED FOR HIM IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER AND CAN HONESTLY SAY HE HAS A GREAT AMOUNT OF INTEGRITY. HE WORKED VERY HARD AND IN MY OPINION HE BROUGHT LOTS OF GOOD TO AN OTHERWISE DISFUNCTIONAL CITY.
WHILE MANY OF YOU COMPLAIN THAT HE WAS TOUGH AND HIS OFFICERS WERE EQUALLY AS TOUGH, HE WAS PAID TO BE THAT WAY AND HE WAS INSTRUCTED TO TEACH HIS OFFICERS TO BE THAT WAY.
I PERSONALLY CONGRATULATE ED FOR HIS FIFTEEN YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF BYRNES MILL. I BELIEVE SOME OF HIS PRINCIPLES AND ACTIONS HAVE MOVED THE CITY FORWARD AND MORE CLOSELY TOWARD PROPER FUNCTION. I WILL MISS HIS DETERMINATION IN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE THINGS BETTER AROUND HERE.
I ALSO BELIEVE HE WAS FIRED BECAUSE THE CITY GOT WORD HE MAY HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR MORE SUITABLE SURROUNDINGS AND A BETTER POSITION. GOOD LUCK MR. LOCKE.
