That's a shame. It just hurts the kids in the end.

There should be a criminal statute called "Betraying the Public Trust". It should be tacked onto any applicable crime and carry severe penalties.

Unreal. What's wrong with someone who is so selfish that they would steal money intended for kids? Karma will get her

I know the woman who did this as she lives down the street from me. While I am not trying to justify in any means what she did, I hear that she had major financial problems that no one in her family knew about including her husband. Desperate people do desperate things. Its sad who it actually affects, the kids, her kids.

It is sad. People of any makeup can create crimes such as this. As much as it is wrong, it happens to some of the best. I pray for peace for her and her family that they can overcome this bump in thier road and make better for themselves. This kind of thing happens to good people all the time in every family in America. Unless you have walked a day in her shoes you shouldn't judge. We don't even have the beginning to this story and already people judge away.

I find this odd. If this is true, it causes me to suspect a gambling, shopping or other personal problem. When dealing with money issues, the first person I discuss them with is my wife.

However she came to steal the money, a crime is a crime. And betraying trust is pretty low.

I would have to agree in the way that I think her husband must have known they had financial struggles. Maybe not that she was stealing but at the very least they were struggling. I've seen some pretty high up people do things they would not normally do because of finances.

This didn't "happen" to her nor do these "kind of things 'happen' to good people", she DID this! I have had hard times, and it didn't 'happen' to make me a theif! I too will pray for peace for her family (especially her kids), but also hope this is eating away at her until every penny is returned to our children and our school!
A thief is a theif, there is no part of the story or a day walked in her shoes that can change that fact!

While I respect you're opinion, I think you are being unrealistic. In this day and age with all the troubles financially for people I think it is very easy for people that were honest to do what it takes to get by. Some do things different then others and many are not right but If this is who I think it is that took the money I think she truly is a good person that has just let go of herself. I do agree, EVERY penny should be paid back. I do agree she should have to have some punishment for doing such a thing. They banks have robbed you and I though buy outs from the government and it was legal but yet we choose to put down a person on a forum such as this like she is a cold hearted killer. She took 8000.00 and the banks stole billions from you and your kiddos. Hopefully her kids are to young to really know what is going on. I pray that her and her husband can fix what is broke and move onto a good life.

You know they always say policies and procedures are in place to "keep honest people honest!" There is a reason for that saying. Maybe the schools need to take a closer look to making sure things like this don't happen again. Fox just had this problem last year with a sec. taking thousands of dollars. They let her go with no police filings just to get her off of their payroll. I'm sure she got away with much more. How can they now let one go file a police report on another. The sec. was not even asked to pay one penny back. What is good for the goose may not be good for the gander.
