Ott Lawsuit Settled
Cannot Pass This Up

Do you recall a man calling in to a talk show and the host mentioning Cookie Thornton and the man said he could see how people can be pushed too far and into doing something like that? That man was arrested and told he was threatening city council members.
Here you had a police officer who complained that another police officer suggested he could "take care of" her husband so they could be together and he is still walking around still in his job on the police force. What is wrong with that picture? Then instead of keeping these officers separated, the superior officer insists she have that same officer qualify her for weapons training. Since the public is paying for this whole thing, they should demand to see the transcripts from the case. If the people involved have a defense, let everybody hear it.

And what transcripts would there be? The case never went to trial. Have you ever attended a case to know when things are/aren't recorded in a courtroom? I was surprised many years ago when I attended my first case.

Seems like the same person is posting over and over again...again. Guess their idea to get another board fell through or they realized the traffic was all on this board.

Too bad. I registered. You're now exposed for the coward you are using other people's aliases in trying to bully them off of this board.

All allegations. No proof.

Really? Everything that had to do with Boone was allegations, definitely NO PROOF, no case was ever filed in court. However, this case was filed with the court and depositions were taken. Since the taxpayers technically footed the bill for these depositions and they were the sworn testimony of the officers and staff involved, that should be shared with the people, especially when the settlement is paid. Some people were quite cocky saying she had no case at all. She must have had one heck of a case or tails would not be tucked firmly between the legs of those offering to settle, right? The public got to see the "investigation" into the Boone matter, it was released to the media before the council got a chance to view it. Do the same for the depositions, let the media have it, then let the council go over it. Then make sure those who did not take proper action and those who tried to cover it all up are summarily dismissed. It's not like they misused day care....it is much worse. They deserve to be shown the door.

The reason it shouldn't be released is because it is a court matter. Boone never made it to court. She never even got the sue letter. Ott did and it is a matter of the court whether it should be released or not.

Go to Hillsboro and throw a fit. Make sure to let them know you are no longer a city official though.

Lame reasoning. Proper actions were not taken by the City for the Boone situation. Proper actions were not taken by the City for the Ott situation. Same improper actions, two different situations. The city attorney, city administrator and Mayor released information and made statements admitting guilt when there was none in the Boone case. The city attorney, city administrator and Mayor attempted to keep everything connected to the Ott case from the city council and from the public. Both were supposedly cases of retaliation and sexual harassment, the truth is coming out. Counting the days. Oh and maybe Hamby ought to back off on the Village of Jefferson thing before he gets his tit in a ringer too! The people aren't going for all the crap anymore.

The City of Arnold can and should release information on this(the Ott case) and other cases. The public is paying for it and they deserve to know the truth. If other communities can do it, so can ours.

You ever think that they might be in violation by posting the minutes from a closed session?

Do you ever think? The City of Arnold holds entirely too many closed sessions. Things do not have to be done in closed session, they MAY be done is closed session. The City should not be keeping secrets from the people they represent and pay the bills. We need open, honest and transparency in our local government. The back room dealings have got to stop. Non-disclosure agreements are only signed when something is being hidden. Something is being hidden in Arnold. A lot is being hidden in Arnold

How many years in office and nothing was produced to back that up? Maybe it's the reason you all were voted out. The voters are tired of it.

If you are so adamant that things shouldn't be done in closed session then file a complain with the state. Oh wait, that's right, you won't. You never do. It just shows that you're full of hot air.

You sure hit it well with this statement! Sunshine law allows for, but highly recommends not going into closed session. Best government is public government. Unlike Arnold, where hiding behind closed doors is normal.

So they should publicize how much they are paying for a piece of property so someone else can come along and overbid them and take it out from under the city? If the Moss thing would have been kept in closed session then nobody's name would have been drug through the mud and subsequent payments/lawsuits may not have happened.

Yeah, publicizing everything really makes sense.

The city is not in the real estate business. Although I'm sure it is hard to tell when they develop pieces of property like 2306 Ridgecrest, which had over $300,000 taxpayer dollars invested when they decided to spend another $242,000+ and paid the developer from CVS to dump their fill there. It is a proven fact that most dumpers pay to dump, not get paid to dump.
If the Mayor, City Attorney and City Administrator had not made press releases admitting guilt when there was none in the Boone case, there would not have been a $55,000 payout.
If issues were open and handled properly from the start, like Perryville, Arnold wouldn't have the problems it has.

No, Arnold would have a whole different set of problems Including paying more for things because amounts were disclosed and personnel's names being publicized for actions that haven't been investigated and their names publicized in a manner that could affect their future employment even though they were found innocent and get the city sued.

Yeah, makes a lot of sense. The only one thinking there are back room deals is you and you have yet to provide the documented proof of your allegations and theories. All you have is transaction amounts and theories, you can't prove that the land was sold for any particular reason or that someone has "friends" in city hall (unless you're stalking them, then there is a whole other set of concerns).

It is obvious that you haven't got a clue as to what you are talking about. Why don't you just stop your nonsense? This thread is about the Ott case being settled. Leave it to you to take it off topic, yet again.
The City is going to have a lot more lawsuits to deal with if they don't come clean on this and the appropriate people take their leave.
