Can anyone tell me about the Flawed Dogs that are available on Saturdays at Petco? Is it worth driving from Cape to check it out? Are there usually a lot of dogs available? Puppies? thanks for any information.

I adopted a puppy from Flaw Dogs in Arnold about a year and a half ago.
They usually have a lot of puppies. The people running the program have good intentions but you must also look at the name cloesly. Flaw Dogs. Some of the dogs have some flaws, some come from puppy mills or were dumped on the side of the road.
I love the one I got. She was supposed to be Bischon but I think she may be a mix. We didn't know it but when we adopted her she had kennel cough. When I called the lady and told her how she was acting she did give me meds for it. I then took her to my vet who put her on stronger med. She is fine now. The pups usually cost between 150 and 350 with average being about 200.
All dogs have had first shots and have been spayed or neutered.
They are a good group trying to get homes for these puppies. I believe they also have a web site you might want to check out before driving this far.

Wow, thanks for the info. I'm guessing " flaweddogs.com or net?" thanks for the help.

They usually have a wide range, but most are puppies. But if you want to have first pick get there when they arrive, which I think is 11 a.m. I have seen yorkies, cocker spaniels, labs, greyhounds, you name it!

The little bichson I adopted did not have hair as thick as breader thought it should be plus she came from a puppy mill.
The poster above is also right they do have a many different breeds. If I were to get another puppy it would be from a rescue group.
My daughter and her hubby usually get rescue boxers, one son adopted a rescue greyhound and another a little beagle from Arnold park.

I have two Flaw Dogs and as far as Im concerned those will be the only dogs I ever get again. Not only are they in need of lots of love, they are the sweetest lil things Ive ever seen. We have one thats only flaw was the Breeder could not get top dollar for him he has a slight underbite which is mostly hidden by his hair. He is Chinese Crested Powder Puff/Poodle mix but and the white hair is long and flowing like a poweder puff and the black hair is coarser like a poodle, since he was called Panda you can imagine how cute. The second dog we got was a purebred Jack Russell Terrier, Her flaw was a crooked back from being squished in the womb she hops instead of runs. But can jump as high as any russell. She rules the house. And my furboy takes care of her. No one would want her because she was not perfectly formed. But she is capable of giving as much love as any dog and appreciates playing with her other doggie friends. She keeps right up with them. It takes special people to adopt a Flawdog and the owners do not mince words. They know they have the hardest dogs to get adopted but still will not let them go to a bad home.

I have never adopted from flaw dogs but have seen them and they are so cute and sweet.I will tell you that I had a 3 legged cat and he was the best cat. He had the best personality and everyone who met him loved him.

I bought (not adopted!) a puppy from flaw dogs about 3 years ago and had nothing but problems. They told me the pup was about 11 wks old. I tok her to my vet and he said she wasn't even 4 wks yet! She was also sick and diagnosed with the dog flu. We almost lost her. If that wasn't bad enough she gave it to my other small dog and she almost died too. My other dog is still backwards sneezing from the illness, that never goes away. The people at flaw dogs did pay for part of the vet bill though. I can't help but think they shouldn't be bringing all those puppies into a pet supplies store where customers are encouraged to bring their pets. Your pets could catch something life threatening from the flaw dogs. Just my opinion. I also think flaw dogs is in it mostly for the money and not because they love dogs. They charge too much, in some cases as much as a breeder! I know they get special deals from certain vet clinics to do the shots, spaying, and neutering. Puppies don't eat $200 worth of food!
Needless to say, I will never buy another puppy from them and never take my dogs in Petco again because of who knows what all these puppies might have!

We got a dog from there in March. Love him! He does have a bad eye and we knew that when we got him. The people where very nice and helpful. I disagree with the post above. This is a non-forprofit organization and they do have to pay for the gas in their vans, vet bill, food and such. I highly doubt they are making big profits. If you know they can have a flaw when you go in, then you expect something could be wrong. You could take a child to the doctor could think it has one thing and it has another. That is why they call it "practicing medicine". We LOVE ours. Until you do what they do I would not judge. Even the Humane Society charges you a price to "adopt" a dog.

I got my chihuahua from Flaw Dogs a year ago, she was a discard from a breeder because of a birth defect. All of their dogs DO have all their shots before being brought into the store, and they are very humanely handled. If the dog is skittish, they'll be socialized by being brought to the store and then just held by a member or whatever is needed, until they are ready to be out for adoption. I agree their prices aren't cheap, so don't expect that. But the money goes not just for shots and food, but for all the other expenses of running this tiny organization. I have nothing but praise for them. They stand behind their dogs and will pay for vet trips if something is discovered that they werne't aware of. If you're coming from Cape, maybe call Sally ahead of time to see what dogs she'll have there that day though. Some days there are lots of dogs, others, not so many. Just realize that these are dogs who will need extra love time and attention for whatever reason...as one ready already said, they ARE flawed dogs.

I've known Sally from Flawdogs for many years. She's very dedicated to making sure these dogs get a good home. As is in all animal rescues not everyone is happy with the dog or puppy they get. Sally usually will make it right. I hope you do adopt from Flawdogs. You'll be very happy you did

Yes, Sally had my little chihuahua for 4 months before letting me adopt her. She's pretty awesome, she gave me her personal phone number in case I had any issues. As long as I live around here, Flawdogs will be my only future dog source.

"Really" if you know her well, you may have known my little chi...she's an all black little hydrocephalus puppy. Well, not a puppy anymore, LoL! She's our little Zoe and the love of our lives!!

I hope Sally remembers MOXIE. When we brought this little quaking Min Pin mix home I tried to pick a new name for her but just couldn't! She had the 'moxie' and Sally's help to survive a broken jaw, broken pelvis, and removal of one infected eye. Today she has blended well with the other house critters but is alllll mine, never leaving my side! Anyone who adopts should know that some of these critters come with 'baggage'. It took 2+ years to get Moxie to play. Coming near the food dish was a death wish, today...she could care less. She eventually played very sweetly with the other dog but not humans. Now she is playing with humans, giving up her toy for another game. I never thought we would see that. Moxie is now an awesome camper and loves to float the river. Her baggage? Well, she won't go off the property even if she is on lead and coaxed. Go figure. Thanks Sally (and volunters)for Moxie.... she is quite a partner. May 2012 be good to you and yours.

Don't ever adopt from Precious Paws. Krystal, the owner, is a nut job. She is very rude. She lies about the age and health of the animal. She just wants the money from the adoption. She jacks up the price saying the pet had to have some special treatment at the vet. She is crazy! I have started looking into this rescue. I've been in touch with several authorities and agencies and they are investigating her.

Krystal is an awesome person who doing a great job. She's not a nut job but a very dedicated person who is particular about who adopts her dogs.

Sounds to me like either a rejected pet parent or a disgruntled former volunteer.

Krystal is saving lives of dogs that would otherwise starve to death or die from abuse/exposure.

Since you don't know how much of her own money she spends on each dog then you really don't know how much vet treatment each animal has had. It's losers like you that make animal rescue difficult.

Shame on you for being such an assh**e about such a nice lady doing such a great job!

I have one of those "FLAWED" retarded dogs as you like to call them. He is one of the best dogs we have had. Who would want one of you German Rottweiler pups with a mouth like yours. Your mouth alone should turn people away. It's too bad your Momma didn't pass on your retarded self and get her a better one.
