Does anybody know what's with the Village of Jefferson's money lately? I mean, SPEED BUMPS in the ball field parking area? Plus poles there to direct cars around (I guess). And the rocks around the ball field are nice, and I guess they work to keep out the 4 wheelers, and the new sign is pretty, but.... WHAT ABOUT OUR ROADS THAT ARE FALLING APART??? I hear there is "no money in the budget" for the road repairs. So why oh WHY is there money for these other unneccessary things????? What on earth is our board DOING to us!!

I agree! I am also wondering why the pool is being resurfaced again this year. we just had that done last year and I assume they did a lousy job because it needs it again, and we are paying for it. I guess if I used the pool I wouldnt mind so much, but I dont. Also whoever did the snow removal this year should really be evauluated because he just went in a single pass down the middle of the street.....pure lazy!!

Another question: Does anyone know the website for the village newsletter? I had it saved from the ONE time it was published, but my computer has crashed since then. And it's not searchable.

FYI: There is a dog/cat rabies clinic tomorrow (4/30) at the ballpark, from noon till 1p. Cost is $11 and they offer a few other shots as well.

I am really unhappy with the way things are handled and money spent in our subdivision. I would love to see things change and am trying to think of ways to do that! What are your opinions?

Well, Fellow Villager, the only way to do this is to harass your Board Representative, including attending all Board meetings to find out what really IS going on, make an appt to look at the books, and generally get involved. If you have no Board rep, as a few platts do not, then run for that seat! Make your voice heard, and then get others to join in with supporting you. That's it in a nutshell. The Board runs the neighborhood (as it should) so get involved with the Board.

well that is a given and I am planning to do that already. Well, I can not run, as I believe my plat is one that is covered, the website says there are 5 openings but not sure that is true as the website is not being kept up to date. I live in the same plat is the lovely administrator that from what I can tell tries to run everything including the board. She is ridiculous and not consistent in anything, not to mention not so kind. Unfortunately, I have talked to numerous people and from what I have been told people have tried to do things, including get on the board and no changes were made and some were eventually run off. In my personal opinion the entire board and administrator needs to be replaced and start fresh. Some of the things I see here, not just the money thing are ridiculous! Two days in a row a 4-Wheeler has gone down my road going at least 55-60 miles and hour and the second time the kids on the street were out and rather than slow down he weaved in and out of them, the kids did not even have time to get out of his way. There was a newsletter last summer that said to not allow children to play outside as people speed, how about addressing those that speed instead. this is an extremely large subdivision with numerous families with small children. Children should be allowed to play outdoors and ride bikes, and have fun. some people are getting notices to cut grass or no notice but wake to someone cutting their grass when it is just to a point that it needs trimmed, but on other streets there are houses with weeds higher than your knees and trash all over. There is a vacant house on Hanover that the subdivision cut the grass once to twice a week all summer even when it did not need it but there are other vacant houses in the subdivision that have not been touched. I am all for fixing up the subdivision, it needs it, but the entire one does not just the span of 5 houses around the administrators. she is paid to work full time, what exactly is she doing with that time?

Oh don't get me started! I'm one that was on the board and got nowhere. Your assessment of our administrator is correct. She has the authority to spend anything she wants without asking the Board, so long as it's less than $500. And she's piddling away our money! Lovely parking area down at the ball field, but the potholes on my street are horrible! Thing is, there is "no money" to pay for the streets. Well maybe if our $$ wasn't being piddled away on numerous smaller things, there WOULD be money for the roads! Without a newsletter there is no way to notify residents of anything, so now they can't even attend meetings. Although to be honest, I believe most people did not read the newsletter anyway, but that's no excuse for the Board not to be in communication about their goings on. Also no one ever ever came to Board meetings. Sad. I'm not sure if your Platt is covered or not. Used to be, but I'm thinking it's not at this time.I agree about starting over with the Board; unfortunately the President and our illustrious administrator are BFFs, then the President's daughter is also on the Board...she of course doesnt' go against dear daddy. Nothing really gets done at Board meetings beyond discussion of whose grass needs cut and where we are going to locate our new neighborhood sign. Big whoop. I don't know...I gave up myself. I don't have that much dynamite to move their a$$es into doing what really and truly needs done in this neighborhood. I think step one is getting some powerful men on that board who won't take crap. Other than Mr. Pres, it's all girls who are easily swayed. This neighborhood need to be run like a business, not a Girl Scout troop;.

try living next to this, well, there are no nice words I can say for her. I was told she could spend 1000 without approval. And what the heck is she paid anyway, I know she does not do 40 hours worth of work, well maybe if you include the work on her own home she does. She erected a building in her back yard this summer and I would bet she did not ask anyone, just made that decision her own darn self. I know there is one lady that was trying to get on for our platt, she was apparently on before and went around about a month ago looking for signatures. We need people to stand up and make a stand. Honestly, I am willing to go door to door if I have to. I have an idea, but it is iffy that it will work. Mostly because I would need cooperation of other residents. I know one of my neighbors asked at a board meeting in June about the new pool rule this year and was told that they would discuss it and it did not need a vote but nothing changed. It was the most idiotic rule. I think expenditures over a certain amount should be okay-ed by a subdivision vote, even if it has to be mailed. For example, the speed bumps or the fancy new sign we have at the entrance. I know that sign had to cost at least 3500 if not more. really, was that necessary. Can I ask what street you are on concerned?

Hopefully a good number of villagers will go to the meeting, thanks for posting the info here. Rumors abound and we need to sort fact from fiction!

First of all any topics to be covered at Board meetings are to provided to the residents in advance so they know about them. Second, any votes that are taken are to be done by a majority of the homeowners. If there are plats that are unrepresented, then the votes can't go through. When I saw the note in the newsletter regarding DFS would come out and pick up any kid riding their bike in the street, I just had to laugh. Working in the legal field for almost 35 years, I know for a fact that DFS wouldn't do that. Does our administrator think that we are all idiots. I deliberately stopped paying my assessment because I saw what was being done. Does everybody also know tha Charter pays our subdivision $5,000/year for a franchise tax they collect on your cable bill. Check your cable bill out. I don't see where the assessments are going down. Where is this money going? And now they want to shut down the pool. If I wasn't so busy with my job, I would definitely get involved.

Legalwhiz, some of your info is not correct. The Board does not have to let the residents know their agenda actually. Nor must they have the say of the homeowners to make any decisions (unless specifially called for in the Indentures), as long as such business does not go against the Indentures.

A group of us who are interested are beginning to work on finding alternate solutions for some of the Village's issues; including the pool, which unless another solution is found in time, WILL be closed for the 2012 season. So we're meeting this coming Sat morning (Sept 17 at 10am) at the Ball Park to discuss the pool issue. Please try to join us!

Also find us on facebook as Residents of the Village of Jefferson. And we have a web site that is NOT the official Village web site, it is VillageOfJeffersonResidents.com .

Please help out as you can, although I do understand time constraints. So at least, please pass the info on to your neighbors. If we, as residents, get involved as we should have been all along, then we can make changes happen.

Please, anyone who is a homeowner PLEASE get involved. This is our money being spent (on what is unclear since a 2011 budget has not been given out). Its our property values -- if you don't use the pool (and I don't really), it is still a selling point for the neighborhood. How many houses are going to sell with an abandoned pool sitting there next summer?! If you are on facebook look for http://www.facebook.com/pages/Residents-of-th...

I hope all of you above have been following the recent months' turn of events. Many things have been discussed by concerned residents, plans have been made.
The BOARD MEETING is tonight. PLEASE ATTEND!!!!
6pm at the Windsor Library
~~REPLACE~~~REGROUP~~~REBUILD~ ~

The current Board will not account for it's lack of money properly. They are looking to close the pool permanently. They are paying (with OUR assessment money!) the lawyer to find ways to fight us - us being the very concerned residents who elected them! And they are working on making their Board meetings closed; meaning that no residents can ever attend. I mean, can you imagine??? What on earth are they hiding?????

Anyway, please come to the meeting TONIGHT!!!!!

While i do agree with your concern, here is the real deal as to why these projects have been done. Every little project they can dream up is an opportunity for the administrator to spend money through different channels. Lets say for example they are buying a new chainsaw ( instead of paying the maintenance guy)- they spent nearly 600 dollars on a chainsaw. They informed everyone at the meeting where it was purchased. The boards price was 200 higher than the actual cost (same chainsaw, same store, same part number). Now that extra 200 can go to something more fun, like a new fence for the administrator. Seriously the crazy spending on projects, while they complain about not having enough to fix roads or keep pool open, is pointing to the misuse of funds at the very least. It is my opinion that once again money is being stolen. This has happened in the past. Every small project is overpaid- there is no other possible explanation.

Actually the administrator has the ability to spend on projects below $2000 without asking the board first. So no need to falsely pad expenses for that reason. So she can nickel and dime us to death, by doing all these 'small' projects, and we end up with no $$ for big things. I know, if these projects were eliminated, we'd still not have enough for the roads, but we WOULD have more than we have now. Total mismanagement of funds.

you forgot about the cow gate down by the ball fields and the fence by the moved swingset. the look on our administrators face during the whole meeting is priceless!
