Election Crimes and the FBI
The FBI has a limited role in ensuring fair and free elections in the United States. Election crimes become federal cases when:
The crime involves an election official abusing his or her duties;

Federal Election Crimes include
Voter/ballot fraud

2. Voter/ballot fraud defined is when
An election official corrupts his or her office to benefit a candidate or party (e.g., lets unqualified voters cast ballots

I wonder, has that happened lately or in the past and who would be the person who signed on the dotted line to certify the ballot?

Would keeping certain people off the ballot be considered another example of a benefit to another candidate or party?

Wow. You all are really stretching now. Let it go and move on.

Unless you have emails that show Diane did this purposefully or that someone else was allowed on the ballot in THIS election cycle that was late on personal property, real estate or municipal bills then I don't think you have any case. So please post the proof you ha e that how Diane did this purposefully or that someone who is still on the ballot is outstanding in their payments.

Keep in mind that if these guys would have paid their bills/taxes this would have been a non-issue.

And please do it before 4:00 pm as I have surgery on my ankle and would like to see the proof before then. You have it readily available, right?

No one has to stretch a thing. The proof is in the ballot submission and the fact that two people were excluded from it. There is also the fact that other municipalities and candidates who haven't paid their taxes on time were allowed to remain on the ballot in current Jefferson County races that a certain city attorney just happens to be contracted as counsel. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-p...

City attorney, not city clerk.

It isn't the attorney's job under the ordinances to certify the ballot and what the city clerk does and verifies. Maybe the other city clerks aren't doing their jobs.

This is not about other cities, it is about Arnold. I'll be waiting for that proof that our city clerk violated the federal election law.

Bring that interesting and legitimate question to the next public discussion session at your city council meeting.

Since Arnold doesn't have "parties" that wouldn't apply.

Oh yes, tampering with an election counts even if there are no party affiliations involved, there are still factions that are advancing their cause by eliminating candidates when they should not be.

You'll have to prove it though and right now there is no proof because that wasn't why it happened. Unless you can prove that the other candidates were behind on their bills you have no case.

If they would have paid their bills and not tampered then this would be a non issue.

Ms. Waller should have been fired or sanctioned if she would not have caught this! This is her job and is not the first time that she has done her job either. So you need to get some brains and stop blaming any one at the City for doing their job. You should be commenting on how stupid the proposed candidates are for not finding out the rules to run for city government. This is not a new issue it happens almost every year, and the stupidly of people wanting to run that don't even investigate what qualifications are to run never ceases to amaze me! It has nothing to do with nothing except they violated the qualifications of running for office by not pay their taxes owed to the county and the city. So Jesus Christ get over it already!

TTTTooo bbbaad, it wasn't up to her, it was up to the Department of Revenue. Election tampering. Federal offense.

It was actually to have my foot removed from my mouth. However it was not a success and they said it was one of the worst cases they've ever seen.

Moritz and Crisler were late on their PPT for 2010 (Moritz was also late in 2008). They were allowed to remain on the ballot. Sweeney distributed a memo then that said the PPT law doesn't apply to cities, and it isn't the clerk's job to determine tax delinquency of candidates.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/121734889/The-Curio...
He has done a 180 on both of these beliefs.
Sweeney claims he recently had an epiphany that the PPT counts as a municipal tax. This is extremely convenient for him. Note also that Byrnes Mill, where Sweeney also works, did not remove the mayor from the ballot, despite her late taxes.

And let's get it straight that Sweeney doesn't remove the people from the ballot. It is the city clerk. Doesn't matter what Sweeney says, the city clerk can do as they please. All Sweeney does is give opinions.

Ewww, awful bossy aren't you? It does matter what Sweeney says, seems few at City Hall can wipe their noses without consulting him as to what kind of tissue to use. The city clerk does very little on their own.

Not bossy. You seem to be a little on the delusional side. I wasn't the one telling people what to do on the other thread. Seems like you have proved my point that those who accuse are usually the ones doing the action.

Sweeney can give advice but they don't have to follow it. The actions are the city clerk's.

Debate issues, if you can't you call people names. Delusional is as delusional does, look in the mirror. It does matter what Sweeney says, seems few at City Hall can wipe their noses without consulting him as to what kind of tissue to use. The city clerk does very little on their own.

Name a time when the council didn't follow Sweeney's advice. I can name several. What makes you think they always follow his advice?
