Does anyone have any input on KAB Homes in Jefferson County, Mo? They build in Pevely and I think Hillsboro. I think they also built in Festus.

KAB builds an ok home, and things could be better but, one big problem is there drywall and paint work sub contractor does poor work. Everyone see's drywall and paint and KAB continues to use them for the cheap price.

I don't know about KAB homes. I am just chiming in to find out what problems home buyers have found with KAB? Any reports? I bought my first house 2 years ago. It isn't a new home and was not built by KAB. In the next 5 years or so I would like to sell and buy a new home. I guess this topic makes me wonder who's homes I should look for. Of course that could all change in 5 years so...thanks for posting.

I have a KAB home and as everytime there is a decent amount of rain I have water all down the inside of my basement. I had them out and they come up with excuses, say they fixed it and it happens again. I am not the only one with problems in this neighborhood.

In reference to KAB Homes; the guy's a lug-head and now he's a millionaire and he could care less about the problems and complaints in any of his subdivisions! And FYI all his work done to your new homes are sub-contracted to the cheapest bidder.

I sympethize with those of you who have had difficulties, but I must express the pleasure we have had in our home built by KAB. The minor issues that we did have where corrected promptly and professionaly and our family is VERY pleased. Best of luck to all buyers. Spreading the word - good or bad - will hopefully help the next buyer!

We have recently purchased a home in a new neighborhood in Pevely. I think the developer puts a little too much faith in his sub contractors also. While he is a good guy and makes the contractors fix problems in a reasonable amount of time, there were may little things , and a few big things.

YOu need to watch builders and their contractors.

I'm in the process of reporting KAB Homes to the BBB, MO Attorney General's office, board of realtors (for their in-house buyer's agent), STL Home Builders Assn., title companies and anyone else I can contact. Their framers and flooring people are good. Everyone else is awful. Finishing work is a joke. Our basement has leaked. They have lied about our lot grading for three months. I would caution anyone...avoid KAB!
Very pleased with KAB

I have purchased a home from KAB and could not be happier. I would buy from them again, and again.

If you buy a KAB home you WILL have problems. The majority of problems stem from grading issues, basement leaks, shingles or wall-work. What else do you expect from the low-bidder getting the contract. Do yourself a favor and shop around. The lowest price isn't always the best deal.

I had KAB build my house and my basement cracked not just once but 3 times, my ceilings are horrible from the drywallers poor job, they were willing to come back and redo there job but wanted me to move all my furniture back out and I would have to clean up after them when finished I did not think that this was right by no means so I just let it go I had no place to put all my furniture while it was being redone...it should have been done correct the first time. Also my driveway cracked in several places and Larry never did fix it like he said he would he is well known for lieing and putting you off that is a fact. I would not have him build me another home so if your in the marked for a new home to be built do NOT GO TO KAB FOR THE JOB......

Has anyone heard anything regarding a home builder in Jeff Co. named Wayne Webb?

We bought a house from KAB and are very pleased with the final result. Of course there were little problems but everything was taken care of in a timely manner. Anyone who thinks any builder is capable of building a perfect house is living in la la land.

I have heard about them using a cheap drywall team that does crappy work. You get what you pay for.

It has to beat the quality of the junky homes built in Florida. Many contractors are convicted felons and their just out to make a quick buck, they have no interest in building houses.

Well I don't know who his drywall guys were but the ones he uses now seem to do a pretty good job. Our house came with smooth walls which are pretty hard to get perfect but I think the builder did a fantastic job. I was told to watch out for the drywall but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a total non-issue.

You are one of the few that didn't have so many problems, so don't discount other people's problems.

I'm not discounting anyone's problems. I'm giving my experience the same as the other people are. All my neighbors around me had their houses built by KAB and I've asked most of them(because of what I've read on here) if they've had any problems out of the ordinary and none of them had any major complaints. Of course not every home built it going to be a perfect process and there are plenty of people that are impossible to please no matter what you do so I feel I should give my opinion. Again, I'm really happy with how everything turned out and I'm sorry that other people haven't had the same experience.
