Has the village made any special arrangements for household flood debris pickup?

I'm cleaning out my basement NOW of all my destroyed possessions and want to know what I should be doing with them.

I called the village and I get an answering machine - until Monday evidently.

There are 5 dumpsters around the village, most are full but you might get lucky, the police said NOT to leave it at the curb

Yeah, that's great if you have a pickup or car you don't mind trashing.

that's because he's to occupied with trying to fight people for pumping out there basements. and finding excuses for why this happened like saying its because people allow there lawn clippings to go in the road.???

The dumpsters turned into a free for all to just dump any trash whether it was flood related or not.

I would like to help people in this crisis, but don't know how to have them reach me. I have a small truck and would be willing to help those without vehicles get their debris to dumpsters. Which reminds me, doesn't every good old boy who works for the area villages own giant pick em up trucks?

Yup and now this mindless jack ass still has 2 bridges closed on main arteries in and out of Ilion to the south and west. I wonder how long these will be closed?
I like how this mayor and board totally ignored the flooding issues from 2 years ago. didn't do one thing about Steele's Creek. All they cared about was the falls and ice. WTF? this was a summer storm again!!!! No ice. What an idiot.
On the subject of idiots, I love how the flood water went right over the 'new' bridge on Fredrick St. which wasn't supposed to flood over becasue of the great design. OK assholes, listen to that putz Frank Spatto some more and the Army Corp. of Engineers. Hey Frank? How did Fulmer do on Friday? Got power?
One other thing. Keep on protecting a stupid species of fish in Steele's Creek. That's why the village can't get in there and bull doze the bed every year like they used to. Did we have flooding like this every two years when they did that? NO!
Bottom line is this people who were flooded again.
If you dont lower the creek bed and channel it with a bull dozer like it had been done for 50 years, t hen this is going to continue to happen everytime. Listen to Spatto and the Army Corp who couldn't find their ass with both hands. I guess history doesn't factor in with these geniuses. Continue to protect a fish while you lose thousands of dollars in your house every 2 years.
Lastly. Those of you who were flooded on Columbia Parkway? Jack Sterling won't fix the small creek problem either because its on private property. Doesn't matter that it affects people in the village.
Peace out...
Blah,Blah, Blah...I'm Big Peter with an even bigger set when I'm on the computer, I know everything just look and see I'm on every site. But I don't know that without the blessing of the DEC you can't bulldoze the creeks and streams. I should just shut up because I am a pompous fool.

So why is that a problem getting the DEC blessing if it would prevent all of this damage to homes and roads and bridges??? Wouldn't that be a lot better and cheaper!! So simple upkeep on these creeks is a bad idea to you? Must be this flooding didn't affect you!! But if this would have stopped this or just made things better its a shame DEC feel that the few fish in these creeks and streams are worth more than peoples homes or lives!! Go help someone who needs help cleaning up this mess like a lot of us have been doing! Try being a decent human being!

I know this is a horrible situation that the valley is in and I think everyone is making the best out of what they can..I think instead of bashing everyone we could maybe be thankful for what little help we are getting. The fire depts, dpw, etc are doing the best they can. They havent had dry feet since Friday either...please be patient!!!

So you think that everyone's out just for the hand out? And you are the only one person who works? No sir people are out helping with clean up and supporting there friends an neighbors any way they can!! A lot of people have insurance to cover some of there property but its not magic don't happen in a blink of an eye it takes time! In the mean time clean up needs to happen! Loss of work and a warm dry place to sleep that they call home!! This world is messed up for many reasons but helping your friends and neighbors in a time of need just goes to show you there's a lot of good people out there still!! And lazy you say take a ride around and see how hard people are working!!

Maybe instead of having the DPW pick up stuff Mr. Sterling should of had some of the employees attempt to clear out the sewers that were clogged.
If the Town of German Flats is supposed to be responsible for the bridges, did they do anything?
I know Mohawk got it worse, but debris that could clog the bridges again (tonight) was not touched.
Saturday the DPW had a person with a rotary broom sweep the mud out of the middle the street, right into the now clogged sewers...

By the way, you aren't old enough to know anything just remember that as you sit in your mothers basement without a job. I have forgotten more than you will ever know.
And Ilion NEVER needed any permission from the DEC to bulldoze the creek. You should just go away and finish your GED.

You need to get a job and a life. Because you are a big mouth you think you know it all. The local streams and creeks are trout streams and the DEC has to sign off on any work being done in the streams. Your childish name calling proves you are of small mind and big mouth and nothing more. You should put some pants on so no one sees your skid marked underware and stop hiding behind the computer. You are a joke and a coward, any where any time you make the call. Just keep on clucking you chiken $hitt.
