As I've said ... I find it difficult to trust any information that Dale provides when he insists on using the wrong word, "merge," instead of the correct "merger."
He can't handle 4th grade diction, and we're supposed to trust his numbers and projections?

There will always be mindless people that follow the crowd. Some will vote yes without all the facts because people talk them into it. Some will vote no because people talk them into it. Everyone should sit back, calm down, do their own research and vote however they see fit. It's no ones business but your own what you do when you go in the voting booth.

You are all going to be very sorry if you vote to merge. You think school taxes are high now wait till the merger passes and villages lose all the government subsidies. Then you will not only see school taxes go up but so will property taxes. If everyone is wise they will not listen to what the people who have dogs in the fight tell you how everything is going to be wonderful once they merge. Check out other states that have voted for the merger and find out how they feel to date about there big blunder. Have you any idea what it will cost just for fuel to transport the kids twice a day back and forth from school not counting other activities for one year. I think you are doing what you do when voting for a mayor, DA or what ever, you just vote and hope things will work out for the best. This is something that will effect your kids and your family for years to come so do “your” homework before you Vote!

more money than brains- this will "affect" your
kids, not "effect" your kids. P.S. What "govern-
ment subsidies" are you talking about?

You have the study closing Remington, a relatively new school, and using Jarvis in Mohawk for Elementary. How does this save costs, abandoning a new and efficient building with an old and aged one? Not to mention enrollment is higher in Ilion's elemntary than Fisher, thus increased busing. I would like to know why Remington is not included in these studies for use, and see the data they used to support this idea.
What future use is planned for Rermington or other school buildings that will be abandoned?

Remington was built on a site near a polluted former factory. It is best they close it anyway.

And of all the schools that would be affected by the merger, Remington is the only one closest to any dumping ground. That is why it should be closed.

Your post was meaningless, as is your existence.

ABove someone suggested that Jarvis would be an elementary school. This is not quite true. It would house 5th and 6th grade students as part of an Upper Elementary School.

A question on taxes is raised above. In fact, taxes under the proposed merger will not increase. For information about the tax impact of the proposal visit http://friendsofthemerge.blogspot.com/2012/05...

A question about the proposed closure of Remington School as part of the merger was raised above. Information about the arrangement of elementary schools in Ilion, and about Remington in particular, can be found at http://friendsofthemerge.blogspot.com/2012/05...

Actually, if the merger DOES go through we are moving out of the overtaxed and overpriced utilities village called Herkimer. We will probably move to Frankfort or Ilion where there is municipal electric and take our kids to Notre Dame. The only reason we are in Herkimer is because our kids are comfortable in the school. We will not have our kids be thrown in a cesspool full of 3 times as many kids who do not care about school and have no morals nor goals for the future. If all these kids needed more opportunities they would all be qualifying for honors classes right now. Are they? No. They are just barely making it. Vote NO or the village of Herkimer will look even worse when the smart people clear out if this merger goes through.
