I was reading all these comments, but after living here in Ilion, for a year, and almost every one I know has a cancer or a family & friends having a cancer, toxic dumpsite all over the place and even the school was built on top of it, I AM DONE WITH ILION AND GETTING OUT OF HERE AS SOON AS I CAN! Funny, because a lot of people in Ilion doesn't want to admit it but they know it's true, Cancer cases all over the place, so close to each other and that's no coincidence. Pretty much the whole ILION is contaminated, there is no place to run except out of Ilion.
A. Good luck selling your house
B. NO ONE has present empirical data concerning cancer rates and the basis for the cancers
C. Ilion is to my knowledge not in a cancer cluster
D. You clearly are making a knee jerk reaction without looking at the whole picture.
E. I am a 19 year cancer survivor who DID live in an acknowledged cancer cluster area with a cancer identified as having a potential origin from the agricultural zone where I resided.

Get the facts...and Carrie Firestone hasn't been able to bring anything but hysteria to the table. Don't move to Herkimer because of the Quackenbush toxic mess. Don't move to Frankfort because of the Union Fork and Hoe toxic mess.
How about this then

Anything you haters have in reply to this? No I dont think so. Go get an education.

Peter Taylor, state DEC regional remediation engineer, said an Environmental Protection Agency report from several years ago identified high level of lead at the Morgan-Duofold site, as well as elevated levels of arsenic and elevated levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon.

“The Ilion Project group basically brought it to our attention and we re-reviewed the information (regarding the Morgan-Duofold site) and we determined it meets the qualifications for a potential hazardous waste site,” he said.“We are currently working with the owners of the property to enter into the state brownfield project.”

What about the Prine site? Nothing....

What about the Remington School site? Nothing...

Let's see if the State actually has the $$ to fund a Brownsfield. Those clean up sites can take literally years to be completed.

She'll make $$ off a book. Crafty, isn't she. Kinda like her father.

I'm glad she brought attention to the situation to get it checked out. All the DEC can do is check the levels that are showing up now. With all the ground water we have in our area, the levels were most certainly higher in past years and that ground water will have taken a lot of it away. Who's to say that people weren't exposed to toxins from these sites before? The Prine site did have some evidence, but it was very low and a depth that is deemed not harmful to people. If she writes a book, good for her, I won't buy it.

It is what it is and she is what she is. What she is doing is no different than all of the others who, for whatever reason or agenda, bring something to the surface (no pun intended) that is of interest to at least themselves, if not others.

Whose to say what her real agenda is?

Your opinion or fact? Tell us what your qualifications are for this bogus pronouncement. Do your research.

Could environmental concerns be the reason why Remington School is scheduled for closure, merger approval or not?

Did Carrie Lenarcic ever get her drvel published? Nope. She is a complete dope and appears in my opinion to have the mentality of a 10 year old by saying she talked to a friend at Topix. You can tell a lot about her by her follow through. I don' feel she is sincere i feel she has a very toxic personality.
