I think this photo is so beautiful!!Where was it located? Even the bridge is beautiful! We have not taken very good care of ourselves in our lack of preserving amenities such as this!!!

This would be on Central ave somewhere near the bowling alley parking lot. They "trashed and pillaged our nice little village." A catchy phrase- sad but true.

That picture is one of the Hotel Osgood. The hotel stood where Bank of America is now. The Ilion Hotel was on Morgan Street about where the enterance to the mall is now. The Osgood was long gone before Urban Distruction took place in the late 1960's early 70's

wow...all these self proclaimed historians.

It's the Central Hotel and it was located on the corner of E. State Street and Central Ave. This photo is looking to the northeast. This may have been taken from the Osgood but most likely the Powers block. Probably named the Central right after Central Ave was named after being Railroad Street during the 1800's. That's the old swing bridge over the canal before they built the lift bridge.

Sheesh.......

You are correct. And the Remington Arms would be to the right if the picture expanded in that direction. Remember -- the Erie Canal ran right in front of where the Arms is now and right along area of the fire station. In fact, back in the 60's, a small part of the Canal was still existing where the lawn is in front of the Arms caddycorner from the bowling alleys looking southeast...

Good call, troubled one, notwithstanding the wisecrack from the wisecrack...
