Cancelling the game was not part of the punishment. It is not unusual for there to be unintended consequences and innocent victims when kids make poor choices. That is a good life lesson.
Missing a game is not the end of the world. It's only a game. The casual attitude about underage drinking is a bigger concern.
Cancelling the game was not part of the punishment? Then what was the punishment? No one here is saying there shouldn't be punishment for the kids drinking, this is something your stuck on. Are you the parent that had their daughter videotape because you seem to have a distain for these kids.

The good life lesson is to have the guilty punished and the innocent not.

Two of my employees broke the rules last week, I think I'll give everyone a day off without pay tomorrow to set an example!!!

I THINK NOT! have you ever been in a situation that you realize wasnt a good one like some of these kids? of course you have. well too bad. you went to simply check it out, see some friends, meet some new,not steal or harrass anyone and now you realize you probably should have partied, smiled for the camera, burned your jersey, and thought the code of conduct was a joke because your guilty by association. thats what breaks the kids down. i am going to discipline my kid for being a kid, seriously. remember not all kids are bad, not all parents deny responsibility and not all are guilty. thats what the posts are saying.and i might add the guilty kids are a bunch of great kids that made a bad choice, it happens and wanna know a secret? its probably gonna happen again!!!
Nobody is saying these kids are bad. They made the following decisions that lead to their punishment:
1. They decide to play football and sign the code of conduct
2. They went to a party
3. They decide to drink
4. They admitted to drinking when confronted, which I commend them for their honesty. Their punishment could have been more severe if they found out later they were lying.

Now they need to make the following decisions NOT to ruin their football seasons:

1. Take the penalty and don't make excuses
2. Regroup and become more committed
3. Learn for your mistakes

Also, I don't believe the scorned girl took the video, from what I heard she wasn't even at the party.

No, but 21 of them did. Again, according HS football rules you can not compete in a game with less than 16 players.

This is a good lesson for all the kids to learn from. What about the Frankfort kids? They suffer and did nothing wrong. And for the parents making an excuse for the kids... Its good they learn a lesson here. Its an unfortunate event for sure. Im sure these things will occur alot more once the merger takes place :)

Actually 21 football players admitted to drinking, including 3 of the 4 captains. What about the players from other Ilion sports, have they admitted to being there and drinking? I keep hearing about all of the football players, and yes they were wrong and should be punished, but are they held to a higher standard than other sports.

Today the Superintendant held a meeting with "football" players, why not with all sports to address drinking.

great technology
kids narcing with their cell phones
pure stupidity

dont admit to stuff
unless they show concrete proof
put burden on them

but if you get caught
take your punishment like men
same for other sports

dont single out jocks
what about band and the clubs
spread consequences

let the other towns
handle their own players fate
do the right thing Steele

as for the Narc chick
you might want to transfer schools
you're a Pariah

Soccer has been cancelled for tomorrow, so my bet would be all guilty parties from whichever sports teams have been punished. It should be a learning experience for everyone.

I didn't know Ilion had a soccer game scheduled for Saturday. Not on my schedule. Who were they playing and is it boys or girls?

You are wrong and possibly in denial. I was told that the field hockey team girls are also not guilt free and at least some were there.

The problem is that the parents of the kids that owned the home where the party took place had allowed them to do so. These parents are complete fools, or at least from what I understand the Mother is the biggest fool. They live on the gorge and they do not know how to say no to their little babied brats. The rest of the parents that knew their children were up there are also fools. No one knows how to say no to their children these days. Herein lays the problem with youth today. You are bringing up a bunch of bratty self-centered babies that will unfortunately grow up to act as babies in the real world. Most of the parents that let their kids go to parties are drunken flipping idiots themselves or are too lazy to parent correctly. For those of them that were unaware their kids were there, well you are tools as well. You apparently do not know your kids as well as you think and in many cases are also too lazy to parent because if you trust your children 100% without checking up on them you are a fool. You can tell when a teen is lying because they have their mouth open. Ilion especially is full of kids that think they are so darn cool and it’s always been like that for the most part. A bunch of egotistic morons brought up by the same. It’s unfortunate that the kids that were not at the party are being punished essentially because of the lazy parenting of all the cliquey parents in this ridiculous town of wannabe yuppies. I am sorry but you are not rich and you certainly are only cool in your little meaningless cliques here in Ilion, not in the real world. I cannot wait to see the who's who of Ilion’s children getting benched or not make the team when the merger happens. It will then be about talent and not who their parent is. This is why I am so glad my kid is not in football and decides to stay out of the “loop” in this town. I can only hope that none of the kids that are allowed to do as they please with no consequences do not crash a vehicle drunk and die, or kill someone else. I hope all of you parents know the kids were also smoking weed and doing Zantax up there. The father with a color for a last name who has a kid on the team should be careful of who he deals his coke to because if you are not aware of this, his coke is making it in the hands of children from Ilion and Mohawk. Good luck to the children of this area with idoit parents like these.
