What division are they in this year? & next year?
If the modified, j.v. & varsity teams all used the same playbook that might help. Modified was always fairly decent, then they went to J.V. and basically were used as tackling dummies for Varsity practice. All three teams should be on the same page - by the time the kids hit varsity you've got quite the team.

You know all the answers. The problem is you must be a coach or close to one and you have 400 comments on this topics crap since June you need to hit the play book. Lets see what this year brings after the last couple of years have only brought laughs. We need Nick back and then we will win again. It is all about the coaching.

these children nowadays have no determination to be better. they hit the sleds like a bunch of 7th grade girls and no one is yelling at them to pick it up. none of the kids take charge and yell, no energy in ilion. now go to watch the syracuse popwarner in thorden park, they are mad dogs hustling and chanting the whole practice. ilion kids live a nice soft exsistance in this new antibacterial world, there mom said its not important to try hard just dont get hurt. its sad. but its not just ilion its most of small town america where pride has gone the way of the horse and blame superceeds everything yearning for so hard pops coming off the practice field

Hey dillweed - since I'm female, I'm obviously not a coach - not even the wife of one. Just a Mom who had kids that went to IHS. I've got eyes & ears - it's called observation. If you have any suggestions besides bitching, let's hear them.

Excuse me, I know a bunch of 7th grade girls that have more athleticism than most 10th grade boys! Sexism at it's best here. Maybe the reason the boys don't work as hard is because they live in a world where they think they don't have to just because of who or what (male privalge) they are. AND maybe some of the kids don't work as hard as they should because in Ilion, it's all about who you know or who you blow so if you or your family doesn't fall into that category, it doesn't matter HOW good you are.

from what I have read here, as unbelievable as it is, the parents in Ilion have pretty much ruined all sports up to the HS level. I'm disgusted.

What?- double sessions started today in 90 degree weather. Heard it WAS like boot camp. No complaints from this mom. Go take a look 9am again tomorrow. I think you are all full of it.

Need to bring back Corporal Punishment in schools again and more fear and discipline. Then the kids wont be potty mouthed disrespectful punks they are in public. If I talked the way they do today, either being overheard in public or to strangers, I'd have gotten my arse tanned but good and grounded. And we didn't have tons of toys like TVs, Video Games, Stereo systems, Cell phones, iPods, Blackberrys, and crap to keep us entertained even if stuck in your own bedroom. Choices were read a book, do homework or sit there and think about what you did to put yourself in this situation.

Did anyone ever have the balls to talk back to Mr. Lang, Coach Turley, Nick the Zit? Nope
