This pretty young mother is not missing... You can take that to the bank.. That husband has the answers. What does he tell these children? They will grow up and make their on minds up. What I want know most... If you have murdered someone and got by with it.... What kind of thoughts do you have about the event. Does it not haunt you? You have the scene in your head, the smells, and what happened after the death and cover up. I wood think that would eat me alive. You can't run from a horror. It comes with you. If you are proud of killing some one, there is something with you in every way. Just wondering how you deal with your secret?

Christine, I feel so bad for you, you can feel the pain in your plea for help. Sometimes a lawyer will take a case pro- bono just because he feels strongly about the evidence. Have you tried to see anyone? I'm guessing this case is one for the DA's office tho. Call and holler and hound his office till somebody explains to you what is going on with the case. Yes, and go to the paper and beg for them to keep this death in the news. Good luck and peace.

I remember when mrs Leona's Wooten was murdered in her home nov( I think) 1974. She was a long time friend of my grandmother and she was terrified that someone had been trying to break in. She became a recluse her only relative was a grandson, warren I think, when her body was found if I remember correctly , no break in. It appeared she let them in.. Worried for years. She was scared of her own shadow, she would have only let someone she knew in. Who? No one seemed to care or look very hard for the killer of this frail older women! I still care. Does anyone else care about this very cold case????
How old was the Grandson at the time of her death?

Late teens I think, possibly early 20's. He lives among you and not a word have I ever heard mentioned about him being curiious about WHAT happened to mrs. Wooten. Seems he may have been her only living relative?

When I do the math...the grandson must have been in his mid to late 20's. very possible late 20's. He was a grown, unmarried man. He has been married a long time now and is an active member of IDABEL community. Still don't understand why no one has ever looked closely at this case.

Can cold case files be accessed by anyone? Are old cases files at the court house? What about evidence? How long is it kept? And where is it stored? Does the county have a person that works on unsolved crimes? If not, why not? Are there any officers out there that remember any of these murders and might add some information that was overlooked so many years ago? Please wake up people and care....

Well, you can add one more to the list.Ruled an apparent suicide[Nathan Farquhar]. The only thing that is apparent to me is it is not being investigated. If only there were law officials that cared that it wasn't suicide.
Is this the same individual referred to in the Pond case?

THINKER, Ido not beleive it was much of a secret to begin with. there was only one suspect and charges have been filed against him. And there seemed to be deep suspicion of him from the get go. And now there has been charges filed. So now it has come to near a completion of thsoe suspensions. Now we await the trial and its out come.. For now we sit and wait.

. Thanks for the update.. Did not know the husband had finally been charged. He is in jail, or Out on bond? Who has his children? Maybe someday someone will talk, and she may be found... And have a proper resting place. So sorry for her family. Domestic violence is at an all time high. I will never understand WHY men feel empowered when they beat, verbally abuse, and murder these women. Most have kids together. Who's thinking of them? Violence makes you small in every sense of the word, murderes are cowards and the lowest of the low. How will these kids turn out?

Hopefully the Hope Meeks family can get some small portion of relief that an arrest has been made. I am still looking for an answer about the cold cases I have mentioned in previous post. Would love to know if files still exist somewhere at the court house that someone might get a look at? It seems that there are possibly several people in the county that has gotten away , literally, with murder. I do not understand the families NON involvement. Yes, it has been many years ago... But you have NO answers. Are you not curious at least? Or furious at best? Retired cops? Got a couple of hours on your hands, wouldn't you feel good to stop and remember these deceased people that lay in their graves.. waiting? For justice? Think back to the early 70's did you work the Leona Wooten murder in 1974? Did you have any suspects? Archie Trotter? Any clues? Wadie Ward? Dead a long time before his remains were even found. Pat Poteet is his sister and one brother was a cop. The lady with him that night still lives there with her secrets. There were funerals, then nothing.... Nearly 40 years later nobody ask a single question. Why? Lazy? Not qualified? Don't care? What? Anybody out there??????

I would make a wager that the answers lay in the files at the court house in records. it just takes a skilled person and a willing one to look at them. How long to county "cops" look at a case before they head off to the coffee shop and put the evidence box away?? I really want an answer to that question! Very few, if any murderers ,leave a note telling you who they are and where to find them! but every crime scene , there are clues left behind! Every one! You just have to properly process the scene and collect everything and have it analyzed. Pull this old evidence and look at it! Fingerprints, blood DNA is now available, hair that doesn't match anyone known to the family, something is always left. That is a FACT. The answered are under your noses, always have been, would be my guess. Anybody at all interested????

I have lived in McCurtain County since 1967, a few weeks after being born in California. During my lifetime, 44 years now, there have been so many murders I can't recall all of them Most are still unsolved and aren't active investigations.
Please take the time to list any family or friend who has been the victim of foul play in McCurtain County. I will wait for some responses, then list some of my own. WE NEED ACTUAL HOMICIDE INVESTIGATORS! The OSBI can NOT handle the job.
Newsgirl: I have posted many times about unsolved murders in IDABEL, very little response. I truly don't understand how this topic can be laid to the side and ignored! Where are the families?? Several I mentioned are "cold cases" but the victims are just as dead as the current crimes! They have just waited longer to have justice. NEVER would I just except that my family member was murdered and I did not even TRY to find an answer!! How do you get someone to work a cold case?
