I was just saying that if the place the person was referring to was at Bradshaw. If it was I was just wondering how this topic got started on the Iaeger Forum....that is all....sheesh.

Sad to say but Iaeger refuses new business.(Or any business for that matter) Same ol' people want to keep their title and what they think is power. Leave Iaeger and go right across the mountain to Gilbert, Pineville, Oceana, etc. and they are all flourishing. They have taken advantage of/welcomed the Hatfields and McCoys atv trails, people are making money and it is great for the community. Tax revenues are up there. Iaeger has no plans, no ideas, nothing. When anyone comes up with an idea the first thing you will hear is, "I don't want that here" or "They ain't-uh gonna come in here and tell-uh me-uh what to do-uh." Gilbert, Welch, etc. have either recovered or are starting to recover while we slowly slide into the Tug River. I know, lets start another Hands of Hope or Thrift shop. Keep people looking for freebies or buying other peoples rags. We need to get some leaders in Iaege and get rid of the silly bankers and those who do not have the areas best interest at heart and only there own.

I always park in the invilads parking spots at Wal-Mart because everyone in Wva has some type of disability. The originator of this post has a mental handicap. Watch people in Welch at the parking lot when they start to the SS Office. They have a skip in their walk until they get in eyef the SS Office and then get a limp. Hahahahaha! They are going to apply for their SS Disability.

I can recall a time when the town of Iaeger had several banks, a roller skating rink, a movie theatre, Montgomery Wards, Sears, Ben Franklin, Mayhew Dept. Store, Trent's Marine and Sporting Goods, a grocery store, several gas stations, a bus stop with restaurant, a train station, etc. etc. etc. Now? If you set along the road in town long enough, you can watch the debris and decay fall into the Tug. Any business that is opened around here flourishes.(Hollywood Hits, Dollar General, Little General in Bradshaw, Subway, Newberrys, etc.) Why do the "powers that be" continue to create roadblock after roadblock to hinder new businesses? Are they afraid of competition? Losing their title or "power"? It is proven that a competitive market creates good business for everyone. So why then? Look at every town around us. From Oceana to Gilbert to Matewan, we are literally becoming a ghost town. Maybe we should start advertising on the internet as Ghost town adventure tours.

Trust me, I call myself "Dem for life" as a play on words. I am a registered democrat who has found myself voting republican more and more often. I feel like many people want change but keep putting the same ol' crooks back in office, therefore the "Dem for Life" title came to me one day. I for one voted for republican Mitt Romney and democrat Joe Manchin this past year. Their views are very similar to mine and I believe the policies that they felt most strongly about would have best served WV's interests.

Until Iaeger is willing to be open minded, willing to take a few chances, clean up the town and our yards, homes, etc. then nothing will change. We need to work with land owners and get the Hatfields and McCoys ATV trail here. Clean up the community and restore a few things. When/if the ATV trail happened, you would have businesses popping up to cater to the trail. The Vo Tech center here in McDowell Co. is starting a small engine repair class just to teach the students about atv repairs. They are implementing a small business class for the students to teach them how to open and maintain a small business. If WE THE PEOPLE of Iaeger do not get on board, guess what: The students will take their skills and trade to Mercer, Wyoming, Mingo, etc. and we will continue to crumble into the dust.

We have some of the most beautiful woods and mountains in the United States. People from all over North America pay huge sums of money to ride and stay in cabins, motels, etc. just to ride these hills. Why are we the only ones left with nothing when everyone else flourishes around us? Walmart and Lowes would be one of many business that would eventually locate here if people are working and other small businesses are flourishing. Someone in power needs to lead and quite with the same ol' policies of "nothingness."

Best thing that could happen in Iaeger is bulldoze it to the ground and take down the Iaeger signs off Rt. 52. At leat the druggies would be gone.

Does anyone remember the Lowes in Matewan, Wv. in the late 80s? I would like to have a picture of it.
