<quoted text> This is good stuff!! We need more topics like this one!! Thanks, Mike Addair and Lee Bailey need to tell some storys like this!!
We sure do, for many great players are forgotten due to the fact that their families have either moved due to lack of work in mcdowell county, or they are either dead.(Gosh I must be old LOL) But the reality is and always will be, were "you" tough enough to suit up every friday night and kick the living dog crap outta somebody you knew was going to be far bigger than you were? Bivens could make you believe that you could, and we did. Our team photo of the very first undefeated IHS football team use to hang in the trophy case as you entered the front door along with all the trophies we won that year! The smallest team we played every year was baileysville, and they always averaged around 225 across their O&D lines. I vividly remember working construction down in the carolinas and while talking football one day one of the fellers I worked with asked what part of mcdowell county was I from, and I told him the iaeger/bradshaw area, and he nearly freaked out and then said, "I know you played for those mighty cubs, didn't ya?", to which I proudly said, yup, sure did! You folks wouldn't believe the rep Iaeger has for their hard hitting defense! I remember back in 1978 when we played Pineville and that was Curt Warner's senior year, I don't know if you remember Warner or not, but he went on to the NFL and played for the Seattle Seahawks, well, to make a long story short, I hit him so hard I broke his shoulder pads! Yeah, Pineville did beat us 18-6, but they beat everybody else that year by 40 points or more every game, and they had their entire offensive and defensive lines back as seniors when they played us, and that bunch went from 255 up to 290 across both fronts! Heck, their qb "Bumper Wright", weighed 220 lbs himself. The next year though when we were seniors, we beat Pineville 26-0, and they had about the same size on their lines then to, but we eat them up! That year our team looked like this, steve ward TE-160lbs, lee bailey LT-198lbs, scott addair LG-186lbs, robbie hogan C-175lbs, myself RG-182lbs, jamie perdue RT-205lbs, david hart-TE 145lbs, greg bailey QB-168lbs, chuck dotson FB-190lbs, mike addair HB-172lbs, michael thornsbury HB-178lbs. We sure
looked like we were a 10-0 team on paper now didn't we? LOL I had a lotta fun back then and carry many memories I'll never forget, and I'll never forget not only the teams I was fortunate enough to be a part of, but the other students I went to school with and was priveleged to have known, and this includes the fallen ones whom I hope and pray none of us let go astray from our minds and hearts, and they are deidra arnett, rod rutherford, donna eagles, jerry (big pudge) mcguire, brad mcguire, jeff addair, leroy stacy, chucky hurley, mark fanning & his wife crystal, george cline, and anyother former classmate that I am not aware of their tragic passing. Godspeed to all!

Brandy was ok, I seen her play some, but I gotta go with former cub b-ball player carmellia roberts. That girl was a phenom with the ball. She was a female version of michael jordan.

Johnathan Bryant was the best football player we had, that was last time i remember us doing good at football. He was my first cousin, but he sadly died of a drug overdose.
Johnathan Bryant was a real good ball player one of the best. But the year after Johnathan left was the year that Iaeger was good. They went further in the playoffs than ever b4. Not with Johnathan.

Lots of great athletes have come out of IHS, both male and female, trouble is, the coaches never assisted any of them (during my era anyways) in furthering their athletic careers. I have been all over the usa and am yet to see any high school football team play with the heart that those mighty cubs do. Iaeger, year in and out is usually always the smallest team physically on the field, and yet they have the rep of being one of the if not the hardest hitting football teams in the entire state of Wv!

I don't think so, she was a ball hog, and she never took the cubs team anywhere, try again
