Are you a decendent of Russell? how is he related to George All and Rockhouse John? I have heard of him. I would like to have some info on his tree!
#24 Nov 20, 2008
My understanding is that George All was the Dad to John Rockhouse, Henry Hunting shirt, and my GGGGrandmother Rhoda and others. I have the ancestry tree for George ALL. Rhoda had kids by Chief Redbird. One of her kids was Russell Ruck. Ruck's son Pleasant was my GGrandfather High Sizemore's father.

Russell Ruck is the son of Rhoda Sizemore.

When I started researching my grandfather's family history...I had no idea what I was getting into. Our family was pretty much left in the dark. My grandpa asked me to do some research on his maternal grandmother's family since no one ever knew much about her. She was shot and killed by her husband in 1935 over in Clay County...in 1928 her husband (my grandpa's grandfather) also killed his wife's nephew over on Hell-for-Certain...we always heard her side of the family abandon her afterwards because she wouldn't leave her husband. Anyway, here's my crazy lineage....
Fanny Woods, Wade Woods, Mahala Sizemore, Russell Sizemore, Rhoda Sizemore, George Sizemore
Fanny Woods, Nancy Couch, Mahalia Sizemore, John "Rockhouse" Sizemore, George Sizemore.
Fanny Woods was my great-great grandmother...her parents, Wade Woods and Nancy Couch were 2'nd cousins once removed. If anyone knows anything about Wade Woods and Nancy Couch, I would love to hear from you. I have met a few of their children's grandchildren and great grandchildren. I am trying to find someone that possibly knew grandma Fannie or her siblings. I'm trying to discover the real story about everything that has happened and not just the goofy family stories my grandfather has heard for 71 years.

Note Russel Ruck Sizemore couldn't have been Red Birds son because he died in 1797 Russell was born in 1801 to 1803 )
Governor John Sevier of TN grows concerned that the murders of Red Bird and Will could become a National incident and lead to an untimely war for the newly formed country. On February 14, 1797, Sevier writes to former governor William Blount, then in the United States Congress, informing him of the crime and naming Ned Mitchell and John Levingston (Livingston) as the murders.....
State of Tennessee to the Sheriff of Hawkins County
I am just now informed by an express from the Governor of the State of Kentucky that a most cruel daring and unprovoked murder was perpetrated by Edward Mitchell and John Levingston (Livingston), citizens of this State and inhabitants of Hawkins County, on two Indians of the Cherokee Nation, one of the name of Red Bird who was hunting in the State of Kentucky, on the waters of Kentucky River. The perpetration of such horrid and unwarranted an act is contrary to the treaties existing between the United States and the Indian tribes, as also all laws human and divine, and such aggressions ought to meet exemplary and adequate punishment suitable to the demerit of their crimes, agreeably to the laws they have, so flagrantly and wantonly violated. In conformity to the demand made by his Excellency the Governor of the State of Kentucky, and agreeably to an act of Congress in such Cases made and provided: I do hereby command you, to take the aforesaid Edward Mitchell and John Levingston (Livingston), or either of them if to be found in your County, and them or either of them safely and securely to convey unto the public jail of Kentucky, then and there, them or either of them, you are to deliver unto the keeper thereof. In order that you may be the better enabled to apprehend, take, and convey the said Edward Mitchell and John Levingston (Livingstone), or either of them as aforesaid, you are hereby empowered to apply to, and call upon, any officer or officers, either Civil or Military within this State, to furnish you with such guard or guards, as may be adequate and necessary for the purpose of taking, and Safely conveying them, to the public jail of Kentucky as aforesaid. I also command and enjoin that all officers Civil and Military, be aiding and assisting in having the aforesaid Edward Mitchell and John Levingston (Livingston) apprehended and taken in order that they may be dealt with as the law in such cases may direct. Given under my hand and seal in Knoxville this 19th day of March 1797
By the Governor
Order Sheriff Hawkins County....

My dad's people are from Hyden, KY. area.
Alexander Woods whos father is Liburn Woods & Sophia Begley her dad is Felix T Begley who states in court records with Russel Ruck Sizemore son John Sizemore that John's granfather was his 1st cousin a Begley
Y-DNA testing has proven the Sizemore's males to be Haplogroup Q, exclusively a Native American Haplogroup.
My Native blood comes from George All Sizemore being half Tsalagi he married the Native American girl whom
Mr. Cornett had raised, after Mr. Conett died his wife later married a Shepherd man. Aggy is thought to be half or more Creek native.
George All Sizemore and Agnes (Cornett) Shepherd thus became the progenitors
of the Leslie County Sizemores.
Their children were ggg granduncle Henry "Hunting Shrit" Sizemore, ggg grandfather John "Rockhouse" Sizemore, Edward, George, Sally Ann ggg grandmother Minerva 'Winnie" who married William "Bill" Begley, gggg grandmother Rhoda Sizemore gggg grandfather Russel (Ruck) Sizemore who married Anny Prewitt
and had my ggg grandmother Nancy Sizemore who had a child with a Collins man, my gg grandmother
Vina "Vinny" Collins who was raised by William "Bill" Woods she later had six childern with
William "Navy Bill" Sizemore but they never married....
My greatgrandfather Felix Begley son of Hiram and Cynthia (Allen) Begley.
Felix was High Sheriff of Perry County, Ky.,
and was also a very successful herbal medicine doctor in his time. He was a veteran of the Mounted Infantry
in the Civil War, and fought in many important battles. He was with the army that drove John Morgans Raiders out of Kentucky.
His wife Fannie Martin was a very good midwife delivering 935 babies 9 of her own.
About 28 March 1878: my grandfather "Felix Begley tells that old Aggie Sizemore, the wife of
"Old George of All", used to roast terrapins alive and kept many traditions as the Cherokee
used to do. Other things he told that I am sure she was a Cherokee instead of Sizemore.
Old Aggie wanted to take a skull which was found under a cliff for a soap dish."
John J. Dickey Diary, an interview with my great grandfather Felix
T. Begley, Bull Creek, Kentucky, March 27, 1898: "Old George
"All" was a prize fighter. He wounded William
Twitty in a fight, so that he died.
Sizemore nursed Twitty and would cry and tell him he had nothing
against him. All he asked of him was to fight him again if he
got well. He is half or more Indian.
The Sizemore are very numerous in the mountains. The Sizemores
settled first on Middle Fork, then went to Clay, Floyd, and
other counties.(Polly North, 85 years old, whose mother was Rhoda Sizemore
says they came from New River).....
Lilburn Woods was born 17 Apr 1895 in Leslie County, Kentucky, and died 3 Jul 1963. He was buried in Woods Family Cemetery, Thousandsticks, Leslie County, Kentucky. He was the son of 2. Alex Woods and 3. Martha Elizabeth Wooton. He married Sophia Begley, daughter of Felix T. Begley and Fanny Martin. She was born 16 Feb 1897, and died 5 Jul 1964. She was buried in Salem, Indiana.
Alex Woods was born 1873 in Leslie County, Kentucky, and died 1961 in Bull Creek Precinct, Wooton, Leslie County, Kentucky. He was buried in Woods Family Cemetery, Thousandsticks, Leslie County, Kentucky. He was the son of William "Navy Bill" Sizemore and Vina "Vinny" Collins.
William "Navy Bill" Sizemore was born Abt 1852, and died 1895. He was the son of 8. Wilkerson Sizemore and 9. Mary "Polly" Wilder.
Vina "Vinny" Collins was born Dec 1848, and died Aug 1882. She was buried in Woods Cemetery, Leslie County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of William "Bill" Woods and Nancy Sizemore
Nancy Sizemore was born 11 May 1830 in Clay County, Kentucky, and died 21 Jan 1904 in Woods Cemetery. Leslie County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Russell Sizemore and Anny Prewitt

DNA has proven Chief Red Bird is NOT the father of Russell Sizemore. It has proven the father was actualy a BEGLEY. Also if you do more research and happen to look at Russell's son Jackson Sizemore's pension record you will read a quote from Felix T. BEGLEY stating "The Claiment's GRANDFATHER was my father's first cousins." Therefore he is saying that Jackson's GRANDFATHER is 1'st cousins with his father.
