It's odd to think how kids learned that way. You would think with all the different ages that there would be a lot of noise and commotion but I understand that some kids learned a lot more and even got to skip some grades. They must have been doing something right..

Thanks for the info everyone. I went to a one room school myself and really enjoyed it. I went from 1st to 5th before it was closed down. Children did seem to learn better in those schools. The younger children were listening when the teacher was working with the older children's lessons and they did seem to pick up on it. Well thanks again everyone. Nice conversations.

you was their .the best i can gather .is that the 3 most subjects in the old school system was spelling reading and math.with these 3 ever thing else came under them .simple but effective.i think back then when the father went out earned the living .the mom stayed home and worked with the kids and the kids with mom.and the other family members.all was proud of each other.ever good grade ever small chore and ever large chore was rewarded with real love of the family .that was what motivated kids and parents them days to reach higher the sky was the limit .now that not in the school of today.sex ed.and drugs .fighting among parents and school boards .and parents having hire some one to watch their kids while they make ends meet. its a mess .

What you say is so very true. We make everything so complicated these days. Schools try to take on parenting and teaching things that should be taught in the home. I think the traditional family was probably best. I would have loved to have stayed home and would have had more children if I could have afforded to stay home with them. When I would see women who could afford to stay home and they worked anyway, it just didn't make sense to me. But on the other hand, if a woman stays home she does give up a portion of her independence. Better make sure that marriage is going to last before you give up your job. There are men who would treat a woman badly if she was financially dependent on her husband. I think in a lot of ways the world is just a mess. lol. Well, that was depressing.

back them days when things were simple.if you look at the laws of today.if you are not rich ever law of today is to cut you off and take from you.when the laws was simple.look at the things the average people done.most all the things we have today modern day things.was created under them simple times.now the big top 1% looked at this and new that they would not be the 1% long with things going like this.so they bought their way into the gov. and created all these laws of today.and now are in charge of gov. in the usa.by passing their own laws.now ever thing is give give give .no return to the average person.that's why all the wall st marchers was on the march.and i was watching true tv.couple days ago .and by what they say they not finished may 1 to 6 .is when they kick of again this time it going to be called the 99.9% marchers.lets see where this goes.something going to happen i don't know what, but there going be lot bubbles busted.one way or the other .i just hope it don't effect the ind. that watches from the side lines.

It is so true that things are different these days. Look at years ago when the average family could live good with only one income. Now it takes two for most couples.

look at what made this.back then you was allowed to grow and sell your own things. no restrictions or laws against you.try that today.the very first time a dime reaches your hand you are a criminal.you broke the law.back then if you drove most all cars and trucks were simple to do your own work on .so people did that .now it takes some one else that has the money to buy the equipment to fix them with.back then you just got a tag took of .now days you got pay a insurance co. what ever they wont charge to drive.all money from the family .a part of tearing down the american simple way of life that prospered more for the people than the big 1%..then look at ever law its to take and rob the average person.that's our problem today .now that when a new laws is written it violates at least 3 more that already their .their no room for any more.so that's where things stand something got to happen.its kindly funny in ways to watch and see what they try next.they have run out options .

That is so true. Way back when cars were more simple and not computerized, if it tore up you fixed it with a piece of string or something. Now everything is computers.

and their are some things that is better with chips rather than fuses, the down fall to the chip and the computer is it can be destroyed fast by a electronic pulse of any kind.and ever thing runs on them today .they are depended on to much in today's world they make ever thing easy and cheaper to use and makes plenty money.that in its self spells big trouble.they replace man in jobs so they put them to work don't have to pay a robot.the down fall to that is they don't go shopping and spend.so all the big boys are got all that money and don't wont give it up.there not none hardly in the consumer hands to buy their products with .so they stuck with the i owe you paper and plastic and their products setting their.and the paper money and plastic becomes worth less ever day its not spent nothing made on it it looses its value.no 6 cents made ever time it gets spent.now whats happening people are fed up with it and they just make it without it on their own.they are going to another system of do it my self trade and make it on my own its cheaper that way.and for millions it is and the numbers are growing .now when this system over takes the old one in place its don for. broke flat as a pan cake.then the other system rules ever thing then new laws go int effect .and new money to or trade system.looks like this is where the usa. is headed fast.
