I miss the days when my friends and I could sit in town on a tailgate, pick a guitar, and drink a good beer. I wish I had a time machine.

Thank the big retailers for closing all our great little stores. Those were the days. The generations of today have no choice but leave home to shop for clothing and everything. I loved Elam's, Pace's, Keen's Variety and there was no place in the world like the Drug Store. We only had one drug store and it was all legal. I loved the cherry coke and bought many a record there.

Just wondering are there any one out there that remembers when Nixon came to Leslie County? This was a great memory. I can remember watching this on the ABC news.
I remember.. I was attending LCHS at the time. We all bought those whereinthehellishydenky t shirts. I don't know if its still named after Nixon or not, but the new rec center there at the high school was named after him when it was first built.

I loved reading all of these posts....It all brought back soooo many memories. We all thought Hyden was the most boring place ever growing up but now I realize that we were having the times of our lives. Walking to town and just hanging out at the Drug Store and Dime Store. Going to the Drive-In if you could get a ride, rarely going once you could drive, catching up with your friends that were parked at the post office, grade school, health department or car wash and then going just out of town to sit and hang out and talk to friends. I sure wish we could go back just one more time and do it all again.
