Furthermore, coming into the country is not a felony. And as for your contention that these illegals are taking American jobs I'd tell you to find out where you're calling next time you call a tech support line. How about where all those new electronic gadgets. American manufacturing is being devasted due to emerging markets: China and India, which has resulted in massive American job layoffs. The problem is not illegals taking jobs, but American companies sending the jobs outside America.

If the government didn't squeeze us with taxes to pay for every little thing they can think of that "disadvantaged" people need...we probably wouldn't give half a damn about illegal immigration because:

1) There would be less of it without the free benefits
2) The bar would be raised without the active government support
3) Our own citizens would be squeezing out the illegals since they'd have to pay their own meal tickets (jobs Americans won't do -- as long a somebody is passing out food stamps)

With a real free market and real money the folks that made their way to the U.S. would have to be able to carry their own weight and I'd personally be welcoming. This whole situation has destroyed the melting pot and caused the creation of many large but culturally isolated communities throughout the U.S. And remember there are plenty of illegal immigrants here besides those from south of the border. Real free market labor competition would actually promote a melting pot again instead of the corrupt self sustaining bureaucracy which keeps those it supports in the gutter and the offices in Washington staffed to the hilt.

As far as the charges go they should just deport him and save us the cost of feeding him for several years. And the mother of that girl would do well to slap some sense into her.
