I was born in a Border state, have lived all over, and I can tell you that there is no North-South difference anymore. It is now rural-urban.

I'm from Texas and I've never been any farther north than Denver, but I have heard that people from the northeast are kinda ride but I think it's partly because y'all are busy and in a rush. I'm used to the people down here but there are some people that are real mean.

Also I know a lot of people down here are pretty dumb. Not to brag, but I am a super-genius down here. I don't think it matters north or south, it matters on school.

Northerners are parasitical worms whose only hope for redemption would be to allow us to dissect their brains to see what makes them so evil.

You know NY, to me you sound like you are discriminating against the people from the South. I caught one of your earlier posts where you actually got offended by someone else’s posting, and now here you are being a hypocrite and trying to offend Southern people. Let’s see if I can answer some of your questions before I ask you a few of my own.
1. Not all people down here believe in urban legends and WISE tails (notice the correct spelling of the word), but some do because just like Greek Mythology stories they have been handed down from generation to generation and some people, not all mind you, choose to believe in them. That doesn’t make them stupid or a dumb hick, it just their way of thinking.
2. We like our sweet tea instead of coffee because, if you hadn’t noticed, it’s hotter down here and it is refreshing.
3. We eat a lot of fired food because that is our ethnic makeup, and again that is how the South has eaten for generations upon generations. Recipes have been handed down from one generation to the next, and it’s what we like. We’re not asking you to like it, but have you even tried it?
4. Again not all Southerners make smacking noises during a meal or suck their teeth after a meal, but for the ones who do I guess they do it because they were not taught the same set of manners as ya’ll New Yorkers. Again doesn’t make them bad people and to most of us who don’t do it, we are not offended by it so why should you be?
5. We only mispronounce words to you or to Northerners because you speak differently than we do. It’s the whole tomato, tomoto- potato, patato thing going on. Personally I find our way of speaking to be charming and I like hearing the way we pronounce our words.
6. As far as people from the south speaking of jealousy of the New York people, I think you have that wrong too. Down here people are actually friendlier, take time to get to know you, and are not in such a hurry everywhere they go. Children are actually taught from a very early age to respect their elders and call all adults Mr., Ms, Ma’am, or Sir. It seems to me that you folks up north are the one’s that are jealous of our simple way of life and mannerism, because you see even though some of us believe in wise tails; we drink sweet tea; the smacking sound some make while eating everything that is breaded and fried in fat; the way we speak; and our simple way of life offends you, we don’t really care and will still go on about our normal everyday lives without loosing one second of sleep worrying about what you or anyone else thinks of us because we actually like ourselves.
Now your turn, let’s turn the table a bit and see some of your answers…..
1. Why do you people from the North eat disgusting food that has no taste?
2. Why are you people from the North so rude and always in a hurry?
3. Why don’t you people from the North teach your young to respect their elders?
4. Why do you people from the North take everything so seriously?
5. Why are you people from the North always so rude?
6. Why do you people from the North wear some of the ugliest clothing I’ve ever seen in my life?
7. Why do you people in the North care so much about what everyone else thinks of you?
8. Why are you people from the North so superficial?
9. And lastly, if you hate the South so badly then why don’t you move back up North with your kind of people?
Hi from the north :)
1. If it taste horrible, people usually never go there again

2. Kind of the idea of getting fired or there is never time to relax. Just work, work, work (kids point of view)

3. Still a kid. I do respect elders.

4. Some people are just rude to us no matter what. What are we supposed to do

5.(Basically question 2)

6. Both consumers and designers can be crazy

7. Without criticism the world would be a different place that may not be for the better

8. What?

9. Never left the north but hoped to visit one day

We beloved in ild wives takes in the early 1930s come on we aren't that far behind! We drink sweet tea cause it tastes good and it's better for you and it doesn't keep you up all night. We eat fried food because when our mother makes it she pan fries it and it happens to be delicious and slightly good for you. We don't smack we are raised with manners and to be respectful and polite and we don't suck on out teeth unless there is something in it like everyone does. We run our words together because it's in out accent. We don't speak jealously of New York because we aren't jealous of New York believe it or not we are HAPOY with where we live and we prefer small towns and knowing everyone and being polite rather than not knowing anyone but your group of stuck of friends and scoffing at everyone else who you classify as below you! Of anything we potty y'all for not knowing hospitality and politness

You must be a sprouted from the loins of a first generation immigrant. My Rebel forefathers fought in the Civil War and I can trace my English ancestors back to the
Mayflower. You are an idiot. Not fit to even speak for the north. Your toothless, Soap Opera watching immigrant grandmother probably raised you and I doubt you were able to pass your GED. Please leave this post for true Northern vs. Southern debate. If you have no military history in your family you are merely an unwelcome tax increase. BYE NOW.

Why would anyone get on here and ask dumb questions?
I'm from the north and people here do the same things. We all have superstitions and quirks.
Reason with a lot of these things is because it is handed down from generation to generation. And a lot of those old wives tales prove out. Like if the water comes up in a creek bank in the winter and leaves it's trash. I'll guarantee you it will come back higher in the spring to take its trash.. Don't believe me. Well when the water is high in the winter get some spray paint and paint a waterline on a tree. When spring comes and the water is high it will be over the painted line. Another one that proves true is if you are going to roof a building. Put the roof on in the sign of a root crop. Like beets, carrots, onions, etc. If you do the nails stay in the wood flatter, therefore the roof lasts longer. Don't believe me, try this. Get a almanac, a board, and a few nails. Then look in the almanac find root crops. When it's in that sign pound 2 or 4 nails completely flat into the board. Then look in the almanac to see when the sign is in above ground crops. Potatos, tomatos , green beans, corn. Pound 2 or 4 nails in the same board on the opposite end. Wait a few weeks or months. Go back and look at the board. The root side is still flat. The above ground side will be starting to Hoover back out. Now there is your science lesson so quit picking on southerners. We are Americans and that's what counts.

im from the north, was raised in the south, and personally feel that southerners are more homy and nice than northerners. youre right, northerners won't invite you into their house because theyre too busy owning their law firm, ignoring they kids, and chowing down on organic foods. no offense to northerners though cuz my family is one of these.
North v. South steryotypes:
1. notherners are mean and arrogant and skinny and high strung
2. southerners swear all the time and are vulgar and prostitutish
3. southerners cant pronounce anything correctly
4. northerners are selfish and all "Proper"
5. southern boys like to take advantage of southern girls while working with their kin at their farm
6. northerners are rigid, southerners are overly soft
THESE ARE NOT TRUE, but i guess we all know them as steryotypes
I HATE COLD WEATHER. Maybe thats a reason why people think northerners are rigid
Did Ya say rigid of frigid. Lol just pokin at Ya.
I was born and raised in southern Ohio. And I don't worry about north or south. We are all Americans. But I get a little testy on people calling hillbillies dumb. Not all hillbillies are dumb. And when it comes down to hillbillies or city slickers I'd rather be a hillbilly. We have better survival skills. If push comes to shove and you put those 2 against each other those survival skills will come into more use. I'd rather live in the country and know how to fish fish, hunt, root, etc because I can drive into the city to get what I need. Or I can stay home and still live life to the fullest.
