Don't understand why the identity of a boasting murderer is not published just because he is 15 years of age. If he is able to knowingly, willingly and with pre-determined objectives take the life of a good human being, we should all be given his identity in case his family has bred others just like him.

What a sad story and it upset me so much and it makes me sick to my stomach that an innocent life was taken because of some foolish teenagers that did not get a proper upbringing. If they had proper upbringing, they would have known that life is precious treat it as such, gun kills and violence is not the best way to resolve a problem. I hope to God that those kids (wanna be tough guys) all get a good lesson of their life with the justice system that they will never forget.

Well I'm glad to see high school's working for you. Good job spelling there, kiddo. |

Its easy for those of us on the outside to judge those kids and their parents. My kids are friends with one of the boys, I know him as well. It comes as a shock to all of us. The fact of the matter is that everyone of those kids were in the wrong place at the wrong time. As for the 15 year old that bragged about shooting Mr. Ballard, its really too bad that he will not get to feel the brunt of the charges that are being leveled against the older boys. He will pretty much get to walk away. Its truly a tragedy. My prayers go out to all of their families. As a side comment to High School Student...grow up honey, Everyone stopped listening to you once the cursing started. Show your true intelligence there. I hope you do not speak for your two friends, I wouldn't want you speaking for me.

Day after day we see these things happen, but do we take action to lock up the youth of america? Imprison them in camps where they can't do these things to themselves, or the rest of us? No, we sit idlly by and ENABLE them.

Too bad that when you are with someone that does that, then you are responsible too. That's the law. They were all there for a robery, and unfortunately it went wrong. All 7 of them should be held responsible. When will you kids ever learn that you can't get away with terrorizing people? Give 'em the death penalty! Especially Miguel.

Hmmmm....concerned parent???....interesting i guess your kids are perfect. It could have been one of yours. Don't pass judgement on someone elses kid when you do notknow what happened or why they were there. Only they know the details and everything else is pretty much speculation. |
||||
Excuse me....but this blog is here for people to write their comments and/or opinions, so you can STFU. The kids stated what happened in the affadavit. In the state of Texas what they did is defined as capital murder. I teach my kid to value human life. Apparently these parents failed to do that. |
||||
|
Excuse me....The affidavit is the arrest warrant affidavit, which means, just in case you are not understanding the meaning, is what the police are saying what happened, at that point is what they are putting together basing it on what they think happened, not what the suspects are testifying to in the warrant. I agree with you on the fact that they should be held responsible for what has happened, but only one should be "facing the death penalty" to quote you, and that is the one who actually killed Reed Ballard. He will never see any real jail time. The others should face a charge appropriate for their part in it, not capital murder. I hope your kid remembers those values you have taught him through life. Our kids face alot more than we did at their age. Sometimes its hard for kids to remember these life lessons when they are faced with the pressures of their peers and get caught up in situations they may find it hard to do the right thing. Its clear that these boys didn't have a lot of parental influence.

Years ago I lived in the Dallas area. I went back to Corsicana for my father's funeral last Thursday.
I drove around Dallas and surrounding citys and it is so crazy. People were so rude when I asked for directions, people driving around 90 miles/hour on freeways, tried to get on freeway doing 70 and was cut off and I almost crashed. It's no wonder people are killing each other. Glad to be back home in Tennessee in a small town, life in the slow lane. |

You have your opinion and I have mine.
I know one thing, if my son was the victim I'd have a bullet with Russells (the shooter) name on it. |

I feel ya there. My boys are friends with one of the boys. He is a good kid, got mixed up with the wrong crowd obviously. This was a great opportunity to show them that they can be the most respectful, great kids, but who they hang with can affect them for the rest of their life. Hits close to home for them and they realize how precarious life is. It can change in an instant. I have faith that I have taught them to value life and that they will always remember that.

I totally agree with you Texas Mom. I have known one of the kids who did this his whole life. I even grew up with his parents and we are still friends. I think what makes me angry the most about this situation is this Miguel guy. The people that defend him make me sick. He has been selling marijuana to the kids all over the neighborhood here, and HIS parents knowingly let him do it.(I live a block away from where the incident happened) His dope got stolen and he obviously couldn't call the police about that. So he enlisted his cronies to do whatever he wanted. It really is a shame. For everyone involved. We all need to work as hard as we can to make our communities better. It's good discussing this with you though. I've lost a lot of sleep over this. As you said....it could have happened to anyone of our kids really.
I wish you and yours well Texas Mom. |

Hmmmmm....Well LITTLE John, if you don't like the discussion, get out of the blog group. There are plenty of other RANDOM discussions you could join. As for the next president we are probably screwed either way and it all boils down to voting for the lesser of the evils. Get over yourself. |
||||
Thank you and I wish you and yours well too!!! This is a very sensitive subject most especially when you know one of them that are involved. We are heartbroken for these kids as well as Reed ballard, never should have happened. It was nice debating with you...keeps the heart and mind strong!!! LOL |
||||
I have known Reed since he was in kindergarten. Can you or anyone tell me who the juveniles are that were arrested? I have lost much sleep over this. Hope you and your children are well. You get my vote for parenting in this day and time. |
||||
Another fine example of the public school system... |
||||
Poor kid, you are so uneducated and your rediculous comment just proved it. Go grow up, learn a little more about life. |
