I am very disappointed in the Hurricane Little League coaches. They are so hell-bent on winning that they have actually ruined my sons self esteem and his love for baseball. They even told me to put him in the other league but when I looked into it, its the same coaches. This really makes me sad that it has had such an affect on my son. I am thinking of writing a letter to the league president, anyone else have this problem?

How old is your child? I have been very pleased so far with HLL and haven't seen that with the younger kids. If you feel that way, why would you continue to have your child play their? Or, why not volunteer to coach?

My child went through the same thing twenty years ago. I don't understand the mentality of the people running these leagues. It should be a fun learning experience for all. Midget league football and cheerleading are the same way unfortunately.

Good decent coaches who let everyone play and actually try to teach good sportsmanship along with the fundamentals of the game are not encouraged and find themselves being pushed out and ostracized.

I know for a fact that this does not occur with the younger kids (jr minor and minor). Coaches have to play all kids and rotate. There are rules associated with little league of America and I have NEVER seen ANY coach disregard these rules. That said, things may be different as the kids get into major league and above. I have no experience there.

My son is 10 yrs old and is not playing this year because he doesnt want to "sit the bench". This does happen in the jr and minor league, the coaches get by with playing the kids that are not in the "click" the minimum so they only usually get to play 1-2 innings and are always put in the outfield without even seeing their potential. I thought it was suppose to be about fun.

Yes, but keep in mind, as I said in another post, they aren't into the major league yet. So, I can't argue how that works at that level. With the Jr minor and minor there are not that many kids per team, so they all start at one game or another. They are rotated.

Don't they also have all-stars at the T-ball level now?

Find the time when a field or batting cage is empty and give him some extra practice.Prepare him for next yr.Or sign him up at sports u.Theres sometimes adults or high school players there who would assist. As a kid growing up I would draw a circle on the block building and practice my pitching and catch grounders on the rebound. For fielding I would throw it to one side or the other and dive to make catches or snag grounders backhanded. For pop ups I'd throw a rubberball at the ground and let it bounce of the wall and make diving catches. We used to play wiffleball all summer from the morning to the afternoon. Then we'd head to LL practice.Learning to hit a curve or drop ball from a pitched wiffleball made all us kids in the neighborhood excellent hardball hitters.
