Letters: P.G. responsible for toilets

Full story: Monterey County Herald

Shockingly, a front-page Herald headline June 30 featured the closing of the Lovers Point public toilets.

Thank you Ronald. As for Mr. Monning, does he remember that he works for the people, all the people, not just overly paid, benefited, and pensioned state workers. Thank God Senator Maldonado has renewed his commitment to refuse to raise taxes. When will these, well compensated legislators start living within their means like we do everyday.

The Herald can't raise ad fees or the price of the paper if they want to stay in business. If they support Mr. Monning's tax and spend programs perhaps there will be a bailout in it for them?

I'm not sure if Cecilia Martinez is just lazy or doesn't care. I have had to deal with her in the past regaring finding a grave site in the PG cemetary. She was less than helpful. She may think closing public restrooms will cause her less headache regarding cleaning costs, or phone calls from the public regarding the mess, but I think the back lash can cause much more, and I am sure it is not good for her reputation.

Monterey Peninsula Taxpayers Association should rename itself the "We Don't Want to Pay for Our Civilization Society". But they'll still drive on government roads, use stores and every other bit of commerce that is totally dependent on the secure situation provided by the governments paid for by taxes. Their lives, as are those of the rest of us, are made possible by the government we have created to provide us with security. Without the legal system public roads, public schools, government regulations and on and on, our lives would be no different than those of the folks in Somalia. You don't like taxes or the government they pay for, go to Somalia, no taxes, no government. Must be paradise.

I wouldn't put too much faith in RINO Maldonado. The demoncrats can offer him something he wants and he'll sell out again like he did several months ago.

Daily Horoscope for January 3

Aries

There is a strong focus on career and parental matters today. You need to be cautious regarding your dealings with someone in authority - things may not be what they seem. This is also a good day to spend time with your partner. Communication in general should prove to be smoother sailing than usual so this would be an opportune time to discuss delicate matters with others. Good news in the evening is indicated.
