Vestal needs to learn correct spelling for local officials names if he is going to report on doings here. Try Fortenberry.

So, what's the difference between “blizzard-like conditions” and an actual blizzard?

Driving conditions were, and are bad, but it's the drivers who make it really dangerous. I started to drive to town yesterday mid-morning and when I saw the mess on 180 in Arenas Valley I turned around and went home. People in two-wheel drives approaching a hill at 5 or 10 mph, losing traction and then just sitting there blocking the highway. If they can't drive fast enough to get up the hill they need to stay off the road.

Went to play in the snow behind Ft. Bayard It is fun when Hell freezes over and officials claim they didn't see it coming. And I'm called clueless, at least I was prepared.

Yes he does Bobbie, especially in Siver City. He helps all the little burglers and car thieves help themselves to other peoples hard earned possessions. Ever notice they don't get caught?

I'm wondering what happened to all the snow removal equipment? Is this New York or what? Some roads are still full of ice and snow and no plows are seen anywhere. Not even sand on the streets. I guess we just wait for a week of thaw temps and forgetabout getting groceries or necessities. Good thing there's two sides to toilet paper. Or "in emergency, use finger".

Garbage removal by call-in on Monday. Loved the fireworks and gunshots that went on till 3AM.

Well the fireworks were legal. The gunshots are typical. Just wondering how you could tell the difference?

Al Reine: Live on the hill. Fireworks, sparkles then boom. Gunshots, blue flares and booms, no sparkles.

From our home on the northeast side of Silver City, I would have to say the New Year's revelery was quieter than in recent years. Sure there were some fireworks (never heard any gunshots), and most of the celebration was over fairly early. I got a fairly good night's sleep. Even our nervous dogs were calm by 1 a.m. or so.
