YOU ARE THE ARCHITECT OF YOUR OWN DESTINY

Everything boils down to causation or to karma and so each person should act wisely and make the best possible use of his faculties and employ his material resources in a sustainable manner for in the ultimate analysis each person is the architect of his own destiny.

Scientific truth is as limited as the tiny size of a pin in a huge haystack.

Beyond scientific truth based on the surface phenomena of classical physics, quantum laws, Planck scale, cell structure and chemical reactions are the deeper causal laws governing the origins of the universe, fine tuning of existence, consciousness, life, personality, death and paranormal states.

NEVER TURN TO SCIENCE TO ANSWER THE DEEPER QUESTIONS OF EXISTENCE:

1) Never employ scientific truth to evaluate the higher causality that is way beyond the scope of science.

2) If a person is stupid to turn to our crass materialistic science to explain the most fundamental questions pertaining to consciousness, life, life events, fears, joys, morality, peace, happiness, character building, motives, will, instinct, desire, aspiration, subjectivity, relationships, discrimination, judgement, personality, death, origins of the universe, fine tuning of existence and paranormal states then the stupid person who turns to the deluded scientists for advice on these most fundamental issues will be misled and sink to a degraded level of existence - a case of the blind leading the blind with both falling into the ditch.

3) For guidance in these most fundamental affairs as mentioned above, mystical experience is the best bet but if the inner capacity for the mystical experience is lacking and if the person does not have access to a true mystic then the person should rely on the ancient wisdom traditions attributed to civilized or to non-barbaric sources for guidance.

Frijoles to Eric----While you were on sabbatical, we established two truths about Mr Hughbe - that he doesnt know much about US history

HughBe--- I shall not bother to ask you to support your CS as that would be putting hell on your already hellish back. Now son, I sought clarification from Eric because I did not readily understand his intention and the truth is had I not been suspicious of his motives then it would have made all the difference, I believe.

Frijoles--- and that he doesnt see himself as black (i.e. African-American).

HughBe--- Correct although that was never discussed. I see myself as a jet-black Jamaican and one who is truly very SATISFIED in his skin. I am being TRUTHFUL and serious, I would NEVER exchange it for another colour.

Note, I would expand my 9 inches to 12 inches and if that is achieved then I would be 3 TIMES your 4 inches.

Also,"....Jamaican Peanut porridge is a delicious breakfast treat. It is a favorite of vegetarians because it is high in protein..........

HughBe---- Correct Eric but let me complete your thought by adding ---when I bend over BUT not when my sister does.

Now take a look at the complete sentence below.

"He/Hugh likes peanut butter because he can't get it up!" when I bend over BUT not when my sister does.

Now Eric, have I not repeatedly told you that I am not like you and Frijoles? YES. So, please remember and understand it now. Thank you.

On other hand, take a causal look at the well-known media-hyped pleasure-seekers everywhere who live on sensual excesses and deep within you'll discover they find their lives hollow and a one big addictive round of sense pleasures....
I know that you would like to believe this. But you don't know this for a fact.
Not all pleasure-seekers are shallow, empty types and not all those who choose to deprive themselves are virtuous and positive people.

<quoted text>
The opposite of happiness is sorrow.
So, how do you get out of this vicious cycle?
There's a constant tussle between these two extremes in ordinary life with heredity, environmental influences, diet and education playing a determining role in this clash for supremacy between happiness and sorrow that tears the person apart in the ensuing fight.
Human beings are slaves of the senses and big egoists and so it's next to impossible for the average person to shake off his attachment to sensual excesses and to egoism.
If the happiness, or rather the bliss, that you aspire for is of the unshakeable kind that neither good circumstances nor bad happenings can shake then it is of the right kind but to attain to that superior state of happiness (bliss) would need a Herculean discipline based on sense control, clearing out of the unregenerate impulses embedded deep in the subconscious, cultivation of detachment and flowing with the higher laws of being and becoming.
Equanimity is the key word.
Even a small sincere step taken along this path should yield some positive results over time....
Of course no one can be in a state of bless the time. I agree. And I wouldn't want to.(If you're happy all the time, you'd have nothing to compare it to.)

Doesn't mean it shouldn't be one's goal/

Since we all come from one source, are made up of the same materials and are governed by the same set of natural laws, thus the goal of each person's life also ought to be the same which is to know the highest reality not only in theory but more importantly as a practical experience with however personality type and environmental influences and sincerity carving out different paths leading to same summit.
".......... the goal of each person's life also ought to be the same.........."

Excuse me!

What is this, a philosophical dictatorship?

"Everyone, step in line and think the same way."

Guessing you never read the little book "Jonathan Livingston Seagull"

I soundly reject your thinking.

Interesting that pleasure seems to be an almost dirty word for you.

Cannot a beautiful sunset bring one pleasure?

The corollary to your statement would be that sadness, or a lack of pleasure is noble, positive, selfless, virtuous.

Is this true, in your mind?

A villa in Tuscany sounds like a very nice thing to have.
George Clooney has a villa in Italy somewhere I believe.
Have you ever seen the movie "The Godfather?"
Some of it was filmed in Italy.
I think he has more than one villa, some say he has four at Como Lake, north Italy.

Never seen The Godfather.

LOL.
Cheap charity of this kind can alleviate human material want for the moment but cannot eradicate poverty in the person's life if he lacks the capacities of diligence and sincerity to better his living conditions.
Besides, despite billions being spent on charity, poverty still continues unabated and in fact the number of poor is on the rise everywhere.
Most importantly, materialistic philanthropy cannot better a person's morals nor can it change a person's innate capacity nor can it cause a shift in his consciousness.
The advice I offer the middle classes and the poor is to marry late or to stay single if lack of money is a constant problem despite one's best efforts or to marry late and to produce just 1 kid.
I make it clear that being a burden on others is not a good thing and that one should take responsibility for all of one's actions and bear the consequences while seeking minimal material inputs from state or from private donors. No passing the buck.
In general, the advice I give rich and poor is to marry and to procreate after taking into consideration social, economical, health, family history, educational, personality, temperament and other compatibility factors so that suffering does not increase but is reduced due to marital alliance.
Most people I know can operate on two levels simultaneously - helping the poor at the personal level while engaging in some type of life work that may lead to a better world at the level of their profession.

You are impersonally "blaming the victim" . Not nice, and not 100% correct.

And I still think you are promoting Nazi philosophy. Everytime I give you an opp to refute this, you reinforce it instead.

Not necessarily a holy place should be prevailed by peace, armony and illumination.

The condition of holy and unholy depends only by men.

Men always dwell between good and evil, thus the conditions mentioned by you cannot be fullfilled.

Even your river is supposed to be holy but it turned out to be the filthiest cemetery, full of corpses. Yuck!

I make no excuses. I just put things into context. The world is a tough neighborhood. Or not. depending on your cognitive bias.

Its evident from your posts that you are possessed on the ME issue.

Any idiot can see that a person is the architect of his own destiny and that simply giving away in charity cannot reduce suffering/poverty in the world and the evidence on offer is that despite spending trillions of dollars in helping the poor over the millennia yet poverty remains and is spreading everywhere.
The poor are suffering due to lack of money and on account of personality defects, while the wealthy are suffering due to personality flaws.
So, aside from giving a token amount to the needy, it must be made clear to everyone that each one is responsible for his own actions and that passing the buck is not a good idea.
If people get this basic idea ingrained in their heads, I am sure it'll help solve many of the problems facing the world and make people more mature so that they make better choices and imbue them with a greater sense of responsibility - as I have said above, each person is ultimately the architect of his own destiny.
What makes you think that poor people do not know this?

How can you deny people temporary sustenance when they are in pain (of hunger)?

That is a path of cruelty. In America you would be a Republican. It figures considering your alleged wealth.

No thanks, I want nothing of your "spiritual" path. Its inherently HEARTLESS.

Also, you still havent provided a convincing argument why antisocially aspiring to mental state admittedly only attainable by a fraction of people over world history is an ethic to be emulated MORE SO THAN living in the present with all its ups and downs, and recognizing the value of community.

You might believe you have a philosophic basis, but your verbiage is far from persuasive for the rest of us here.
