I think, theft, grave diggers, gun smuggling, meth , corrupt leadership and giving rewards and big pay raises to people who defraud the public might have something to do with the fact that there was a low turn out. I know its just a crazy thought but people don't care about re vamping the down town area right now. They care about their saftey and the fact that drugs are on every street corner and in the back door of most of the business owners in town.
The Doctors in town are tired of treating gun shot wounds and stabbing victims and they won't stay here when we are number 49 in the state for poor education. People won't move here when your ''county owned bar'' is the only thing that is making money in the area.
Just a thought

Apparently the source of New Mexico being #49th in education lies 39 miles away - not at El Varado Army base, but......Mexico. That and the ilk that comes out of Indian reservations.

I could not make it to the meetings as I was out of town this past weekend with other commitments. With only one week of notice it could be that other people had made other plans and could not attend. Maybe another forum scheduled for a later date with plenty of notice or even just having people mail in their suggestions and input should be encouraged. I believe our downtown and mainstreets do need community planning input to attract more businesses, tourists, economic development, add historical sites, address pedestrian concerns and improve the social atmosphere. Look at this as a beginning with more meetings to come. You should also partner up with the County to see what input was emphasized at their meetings. Stay positive and positive results will happen.

Yes, sir. As long as you keep using 'being' verbs at the end of your 20-word-long sentences, we'll just assume your a lawyer and follow you anywhere.

Better yet, form a committee!(whispers)'Put it on our April 15 tab'

Check out Silver Citys' Master plan on their towns website, 180 pages long. Deming's master plan is 29 pages long. Community input is vital to their towns success plus putting it into action.

I could do it one page. Our Nation's Constitution was ony 13 pages long. Truth is brief. Despite the Luna Co. school system's mission and funding demands, Deming is actually part of the United States of America, not Mexico.

Guys like me could fix a whole lot of ills with a little bit of ink and paper; that and a decent Judge and Sheriff.

Dear Jackie,

You spoke my heart. It ALWAYS worries me when I don't see kids out. It's down right eerie. There is ill in the air when you don't see new generations doing what we did at that same age.

But specifically, I believe Dr. Williams ( I hope I got that name right- anyway, the guy smart enough to get away from Blue Skies medical care before they all get frog-marched into Riker's Island) coaches girls softball complete with good techniques for throwing. The gymnastics outfit south of town takes your money month after month, but when you want a minute of their time to request a modest fit for your kid's leotards to be purchases for shows, they won't have a minute to talk to english speakers. Only mexican-speakers.

But whatever you do, don't try to report a child sexual abuse crime to the Deming Police Dept., or that tall sergeant who wears a hat inside will berate you publicly so badly you just wish you moved on back to Kansas and forgot the whole Southwest.
