I would say the great majority do comply, because the code guys have been talking to me about the cases.

Ok so now I know why we have a weed problem in Deming! "The code enforcers are beginning to do their annual sweep of the city to remind citizens to tend to unruly weeds on their properties." OMG what do they do the rest of the year! What have I been saying for the past 3 months and its the same thing year after year. WE need to enforce the weed control ordinance all year long!!! Is October the only time people need to clean up their weeds? and the rest of the year we can relax and let the town look like a dump until October. Geez the weeds across the street from my house have dried up now and the tumbleweeds are blowing into my yard now, so I have to clean up the neighbors weeds since he didn't 3 months ago. Lets work on enforcing these ordinances all year long or at least from spring to autumn, not just one month out of the year.

the code enforcers should try to drive down our alley, it is full of mesquite bushes that are as tall as trees. I have reported this to the city code enforcer but nothing has been done

Why do you think the only function of city code enforcement is weed patrol? Thats just one little part of their job. Considering the size of Deming and the fact that weeds are the main ''crop'' code enforcement does a good job.
During the windy months is not safe to clear cut an empty lot, because believe it or not weeds do a good job of holding the dirt down and that helps visability on the streets when the dirt storms are on us.
Read the City ordi
nances and you might gain more understanding of what they are and what can be done and what cannot be done.

Isn't there some way a committe could be formed to figure this all out? We could pay them with...oh, what's that big word I'm looking for....tax. Tax? Yeah, tax! No ONE person should have the right way to look at all this. It's too complicated and feelings get hurt. And when feelings get hurt, I care. I really do. I care about weeds.

Don't you drive around Deming on a daily basis? Considering the size of Deming we should have no weeds period! It shouldn't take that much time for property owners to clean up their property, but once you let things go and go and go and then all of sudden try to get it cleaned up then it is a big job. Giving people warnings would take care of the problem, except for out of town owners who it might take time to track down. Many people don't report their neighbors for fear of causing problems amoung neighbors, thats why it would be so much better for the code enforcers to drive around and give warnings. Don't you have a vision of what our city should look like? I do, beautiful and attractive!!!
