Can you say "follow the money?" Raul's appointed by a county commission. Two of the three commissioners are Jovita Gonzales and Mary Ann Sedillo; cousins to one another. Raul appoints Eddie Ortiz as his under sheriff (except that now, Raul's helped him become "Captain" so if Raul loses, whoever is elected can't terminate him, as Raul terminated Art Vega). Eddie Ortiz is Jovita Gonzales' nephew. Oh, yes, and he's also nephew to Lynn Baca, who initially became Raul's executive secretary, but now is the department's procurement officer. And now, Raul's going around the department telling other deputies who are running that 'after Tuesday, when I get elected, things are going to change.' Something tells me he's going to fire some deputies, just like he fired Art Vega. Ya think?

Hmmm... Perhaps Jan Brewer needs to pop over here and look at the candidates? Villanueva, Otero and everyone except Koons sound suspiciously undocumented to me. Better arrest them and check their citizenship status.... just to be sure.... You just never know do you?

I would not vote for any of the candidates if they paid my mortgage for me. The only one I would consider is the rank outsider, and the only Republican. Curious to me that law enforcement is politically partisan...

I watched Villanueva get this post. I saw an overweight, oversized, over-egoed slob become sheriff and throw the undersheriff out in favor of his buddy. It was plain to see the county commissioners were kind of fond of Rotund Raul, and that makes it hard to take the former sergeant seriously.

Watching these guys in admin. driving around in expensive cars - the Dodge cars run upwards of $35K and the Expedition runs more than $50K with police packages, compared with $23K for a standard Crown Victoria, it is hard to be sympathetic to them when they whine about not having enough bullets to practice with.

Hey! I have s suggestion! Seeing as these guys do not get furloughed the way other state employees do, perhaps the department can take one days pay per two months from each department member to buy bullets! Whaddya reckon Rolly Raul??? Can you do that?

I guess Mitch is happy again that they closed up the streets and all the drunks are coming back to town again.. It sure gives silver chitty a bad name. Just walked to the park and your see all the town drunks drinking beer and you think it gives the kids the right message? You would think Silver chitty would put on something better than the blues drinking. Oh did Mitch have anything to do with the new Arch being put up downtown? Its was funny when they dug those holes and hit water, I hope it was the towns water line and caused the water rates to go up. Talking about another matter with all the motorcycles making noise with their mufflers rapping as they go down town. I think the city fathers are doing a great job don’t you. Silver chitty will never change as long was we have these new comers running things, oh and they think they can call themselves locals? Nope Great Grant county once was a high money earner but now everyone is on food stamps. Even the local car dealerships are shipping all the new cars out of town, the only thing Grant county has is Wally World and that is not saying much. I heard that Steve May started working for Wally World or is it the old Red barn that has the worst salad bar there is nothing good to say about Silver, soon it will be a ghost town run by the local cops that really are the drug dealers in town. Make sure you vote for Raul so things will never change. He is nothing but a fat asshole that is on the take and doesn’t do a thing to solve crimes, murders, ect….and you think I am negative?? Wrong I am just telling you the truth how the county works. Once I was told if you only knew what went on after dark you would lock your doors and keep your guns on your end table. The only law here in Silver chitty is the 357 that luckily you can wear if its in open view. Thank you James Marshall for doing such a good job, I bet your parents in Hurley is proud of you. Oh I bet Henry TORRES will be at the blues feast remember he squeezed his way out of a DWI in Deming. Just to show you who you know will make all the difference. You think I lie check this out.http://www.nmcourts.gov/ca selookup/app?component=dl& page=DwiResults&service=di rect&session=T&sp=SU-8 8-DR-200900541 If you are going to cheat on your wife you should not get drunk and use some common sense, but again you never had any while you were a counsel man in silver chitty.

@funny, you are anything but funny! Did you even go to school? Most of what you said is just idiotic drivel (what I can understand of it anyways).
As for Henry Torre's DWI, that was in Municipal Court, which only posts the filing of the DWI on NMCourts, and does not keep the case up to date, so unless you call the court and ask if he was convicted, NMCourts proves nothing.

I am sure everyone has heard Raul's radio commercial. It's really sad he has to read from a piece of paper to say his pitch and not speak from the heart or even try to sound like he wasnt reading! GO KOONS!!
