Absolutely it needs to dry up. As ugly as it was, it's served it's purpose in that it plugged the leak and gave support for basic services, like Medicare. Actual recovery is a different story. We need to return to capitalism and pray the Wall Street economy doesn't pull us down.

I never used your catch phrase 'socialism'. If you want to eliminate all social services, you better think carefully of what you're asking.

There isn't any push to create jobs here, the godd ole boy system has all their friends and family in a take home weekly paycheck so nuts to the rest of us. They only tell you what they think you want to hear, false hopes, just out of reach dreams and a mentality controlled mind and body. The entire program needs to be scrapped and the people need to get back in control of how our money is spent, if we choose to spend it.

Now Bingaman warns that the stimulus will not last forever, will not be able to extend new programs, and cannot continue to prop up government spending.

It is unfortunate that the state nor the Federal gov't had the insight to create private sector jobs. But that is not what Dems do. Now we are stuck with increased dependence on sources of revenue that were really never there in the first place. Kinda like what all Republicans were saying from the beginning. How many social programs were increased or created with money that is now unavailable? And I can remember governors of Red states complaining this exact thing would happen, and they would be stuck with the bill. Too bad our Bill could not see that. It is not easy to break the cycle of dependence on Government in New Mexico, and it won't get easier. Now it is a lot worse.
