Why is it that some of the people on here that are "waiting" or "inmates spouses" cant type? I mean, "Waiting" above me..."sum thing" is that honestly how you spell that? "something" is correct.

Geesh.

And for that matter, the inmates of TDCJ DO get their little nudie pics of their girls and spread them around like candy. Its really sad for a wife of one of those thugs to come up to you and say "Hey Boss, check out my wife" and theres the wife in all her glory. Real respectful to their significant others hunh?

And whats really pathetic, is when they come to visit and they have this "rough & tough" voice for the visit, yet when they were just in the hallway, they had koolaid on their lips and and walking like they were a prostitute.

It happens. Thats prison. If your man says he hasnt been "booty bumped", he just hasnt been "booty bumped" yet. It will happen.

As far as the Thanksgiving Dinner, its usually very dry and spiceless. So who cares if they get a dinner or not. We are already paying their way anyhow, so let them have some dry turkey meat.

Ok to the correctional officers that posted comments....you should rethink your words. NOT every parent is at fault for their childs mistakes. If there is a 48 year old person doing time I would hardly blame their parents for that. He or she is an adult...hint. Also if someone is passing nude pictures around that means you ARE NOT doing your job. I would like to talk to the person who signes your paycheck, that way I can tell him that not only is my tax dollars wasted on inmates but it is wasted on TDCJ employees who are not doing their job. I also want to add to the ex-officer who said..."booty bump"....That would not be going on if you were doing your job as well. And by the way that doesn't happen as much as you say. So I think if my tax dollars are going to be wasted on TDCJ employees who do not do their job than give a Thanksgiving Dinner to the inmates.

Ohh yeah thats right! TDCJ Officers are so highly paid and respected in the "world" that they really give a damn anymore about Johnny Inmate passing around his wife's "personal" pictures to his buddies. Oh and the "highly respected training" they get, heck State Troopers should have to go thru TDCJ Boot Camp to learn how to do anything related to Law Enforcement!!

Get a grip. Unless youve worked at the Prison or been IN the prison, you honestly dont know what goes on in there. The few good officers still there (I left so they are another down) CANNOT BE everywhere all the time! They cant. They are not Superman. So if there is nudie pic passing and some "booty bumping" going on, there is a possibility that it can get caught, but a bigger percentage of it cant. If a inmate has a pic of another's wife on him, and gets jammed up on the wall by a CO, that CO will probably not recognize the inmates wife and say "Oh my gawd! You have Billy Inmate's wife's pic on you! Shame! Im gonna write you up!" It dont happen. So your pathetic excuse "If you did your job's that wouldnt happen" I laugh at that statement. Walk a mile in a CO's boots before stating something else stupid about something you have no knowledge of.

Once again, let them have their turkey dinner. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas is the least amounts of distrubances amongst the inmates. Hell Im for allowing their families to bring them a Christmas gift, as long as its not sharp or can fire any projectiles.

Let me just say to you that I know alot more than you think. I have several people in my family that work as TDCJ employees for some of the toughest prison systems in Texas. I know all about your job. I also have a criminal psychologist in my family that works for TDCJ and on the other hand I have family in the system as well. So I have had a taste of both sides. I have visited many prisons. I am well aware of all the facts. I have also known of guards who deserve to be in the system as well as the inmate. There are gaurds that bring in weapons, drugs and sleep with inmates. This is a fact and you shouldn't be fooling yourself. I will give you the respect you deserve if you are one of the few good gaurds, and I hope you are. But I know that some of the guards are on power trips and think they are Gods. Like the ones who won't let an inmate eat just because the guard has had a bad day, or the ones who are cruel because they think it is funny. How do you explain that?
So please don't come at me like I am clueless to the prison system, it has been apart of my life for many years. Perhaps you remember when two inmates took a nurse hostage in the Montford Unit? My uncle was the first man to go in to get the nurse out. He is a highly respected man in the TDCJ system. So I do know there are good men out there who work for the sytem but the ones that are do not speak of how bad the inmates are because they know like you and I, the inmates are human. And they do not go around talking about "booty bumping" because they know that is all stage for T.V.. It does happen but not as much as people are lead to belive.

Well to those who claim to be wives...are you a mail order bride, common law or just the ones who have been conned into putting money on their commissary fund? Don't you wish you could see who all he is writing to and wanting money on his books so he can make store? Do you ever wonder who all visits them? You give up your life and wait on those who are playing you for a fool. What do you take from your own self or children to give to those who should be supporting you but was dumb and chose to be a criminal. Ladies listen up! Do not be fooled by the fools. Get a life.

you have heard that he who is without sin cast the first stone. not everyone is malicious and not everyone intends to make a mistake. every person in the prison system is not there because they have intentionally harmed another or sold drugs. have you heard that bad things happen to good people. well they do. we all are human and we all make poor decisions. we are a work in progress. so when you become the perfect person then you may judge. i hope your words never come back to haunt you and i hope that you consider every choice you make from here because if you don't, you could make a mistake and end up a "piece of crap" in prison.

To all even the ones that judge before knowing the person. I myself have been in prison I served 6.5 years.I am not by any means perfect but I am not a monster either. We all make mistakes and yes there are some innocent ppl behind those wallsbelieve it or not. However as for the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. LMFAO!! They are nothing to write home about.I am not crying as I am now in the world. I do believe however that someone should try to help these men and women get a little better treatment. Even if they did do wrong they are still human and do not deserve to be treated as subhuman.
Loving My Pen-Pal

I just wanted to add that i have written to inmates since a little before 2000. I do it to help the inmates by being a friend to them. After writing to a bunch (over 15) of prisoners, I recently started liking one of my pen-pals. I have written him (David)since September 2007. And still writing. I am fixing to visit him soon but he currently got transferred to another unit cuz he got in a fight with someone that stole his things. That someone dislocated his jaw. Yet 3 of this someone's "friends" fought him before he was to go to the hospital and ended up breaking his jaw.(He had to wait for an opening for him to be able to go but when he fought the 3 guys they immediately took him to the hospital)Nothing is going to happen to David (charges wise). The first guy that got in a fight with David got two charges (assault and theft) and the other 3 for assult. David's jaw had to be wired shut and he is put on a liquid diet. His parents are in PR. He'll recover soon.
and this is the first time he has asked me for money, so I sent him ($40) even though he asked for ($20)cuz I wanted to send him that amount. Never have I sent any amount of money to none of the pen-pals. And never have I felt anything for none of my pen-pals before. David is the first and last. I want to be with him. My Boricua! I don't consider him a pen-pal anymore, I consider someone that I will be with when he gets out.(June 2012,parole)
To those that are going to post something hateful: Don't judge if you dont want to be judged. Nobody is perfect and maybe we're perfect for each other.
To all you haters:
Hate on something else. This ain't none of your business so no need for you to bad mouth for no reason. Yes i posted cuz it is freedom of speech.

It is so sad to me that people think this way...just because someone has made a mistake does not make them a horrible person forever. Maybe they just went down the wrong path because they had no one to love them and got into drugs so bad, they couldnt tell right from wrong. It is easy to judge until you have been there or have someone you love there. No one should judge others but God, and since the legal system has to, when these things happen..the ones that do get punished arent always bums and sorry people..some are very strong in their beliefs with God. And in their time in prison have become better people. They read the bible and many other things that most of us dont make time for in our normal lifes. Some of us that think the way you do should have to spend even a short period of time in jail, to make it hit home for you, and let you understand that everyone makes mistakes and should be forgiven especially if they show they have changed.

I thought Thanksgiving was a holiday to give thanks for what we have, these people have family that I am sure they are thankful for.So they eat what the rest of us eat on that day.I say,Great!I have noone behind bars but if I did I would want them to enjoy a good meal. So,you do-gooders need to think about what you are saying.

I believe if I read correctly, most of this food is grown by the inmates themselves. They raise the vegetables, chickens, and etc. So, does it bother you so much that they are eating some of the food that they produce. This is three decent meals a year. Surely, this doesn't bother anyone so much.

As for the person complaining about people not being able to write. I am sure I can match you in your ability in this area any day. So don't be so quick to look down on others. Sure we have some people on here that are not good with the basic skills, but I bet you they could put you and I both to shame in some areas of their ability. Many that are not gifted in this area are gifted in other areas--such as sewing, cooking, etc. God gave us all a gift, so don't think that you received more in that area than others. Someone make a remark in another post that I love to remember; it is "don't look down on others unless you are looking down to help them up." This is something we should all remember as we go throughout our life.

To you that are so good, I am sure you sit in Church on Sunday for all to see how good you are, but what does God think of you. As you hand out your words of hate, do you ever think of this?

You never know when you walk the high road and feel you are looking down at scum below just how quickly you can fall. Yes, I have walked in your shoes. I felt so far above this world. Then God knocked me off of my high plateau to see this life through a loved one. You never know when a person that has led a good life, never been in trouble before, suddenly becomes a part of this world. We have a system in which some in authority love to send a person to prison for first offense. This is called being hard on crime and it is so good for promotional opportunities. A person's life is of no importance to some if they can move up the ladder of success. Sorry, that is what is happening in many places today. So spread your words of hate, but you have no idea how quickly this can become you. As I say I have seen life from up above so I know what can happen.

Prison guards in Huntsville do not have to meet very high standards, intellectually or physically. Most of them are obese and afraid of the inmates.

I totally disagree with Hall. There is not all that so-called booty bumping at TDCJ. Maybe he wanted some of that. It is simply not true for most inmates. Also, nude photos never make it in. Yes, there is a lot obesity. We don't have to meet weight requirements.

I visit my son at Ellis Unit twice a month and have for the last nine years. 95 percent of the "guards" I have seen and dealt with are totally disengaged in any interest in good job performance. They don't even speak well r most are in horrible physical condition, so I do imagine they must feel threatened. My guess would be that one percent could run to the end of the driveway and back. In dealing with them, it is painfully obvious most are uneducated, leaving me to wonder what the job requirements are. Based on the low wages, it is no surprise, though. You get what you pay for in our society.
