Ridin Dirty

To Sxs passenger, The root seems to be a dispute between Brimstone, and Trails End. I know some particulars but do not wish to air that dirty laundry right now. Beyond that, why exclude Jeeps, VW rail buggies, and Trucks? This is more than just a dispute between Trails End and Brimstone, The folks who own Trails End, have made it publically known that they are seeking a solution with Brimstone, the opposite has not been said. Trails end has stated if it was a percentage, or fee to be part of the "approved" camping areas, that they would gladly pay. Brimstone has taken the ability to post anything on their Facebook page, since this started, I had a Post with 350 plus responses, some negative, some positive, and now its deleted. I would like to see a solution, but at this point it seems like a one way road, with one side not willing to work with the other. In time the truth will come out, but rest assured, it will not end well for Brimstone, Southern Sxs riders are not the only group that is boycotting Brimstone, there are over 5000 people from various riding groups in the area who have decided, publicly, and privately, to remove Brimstone as a destination for riding because of this. The whole community of Huntsville will suffer from this, no matter how it ends up.

Thats true, let mark love and his cronies ride it all they want but when you offer it up to the general public things change, there are laws against discrimination, no different than them telling someone they are the wrong color or sex to ride there. Maybe you are ok having your civil rights violated but we are not.

Ride on somebody else's coat tail?? Mr Howard already had a successful business years before Brimstone Recreation was even thought of! He owns a couple hundred acres right at the base of the mountain that he purchased long before Brimstone Recreation came along , who wouldn't have put in a campground? Further more, he has allowed the use of part of HIS land to access the trails! He has helped when asked, went out in the middle of the night to help riders who were broke down or stuck, had parts delivered to help riders, and it didn't matter to him where you were lodging. He did those things because he's truly a good guy. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about the other party in this mess!

Brimestone refunded 6 of our annual passes with no issues.

And as far as who maintains the trails and such. Someone made the comment on another forum comparing this to DisneyLand. Doesn't matter where you stay just as long as you pay for your pass you can enter the park. This hould be no different in this situation. As long as you purchase your pass through Brimestone, then why does it matter where you stay? They got their money. If they need more money for maint and such, then raise the price to cover those expenses. If you look at their approved list of overnight facilities, Brimstone Retreats, Grand Vista Hotel, Comfort Inn, Big South Fork, Wilderness Retreats, Cornerstone, Longhorn Ranch, Oneida Guesthouse, Unique Mountain Getaways, Elk Run Cabins, do you honestly think the Comfort Inn and alot of the others actually maintain trails, provide patrol,or provide payment for such? NO! All this means is that Brimestone is getting somekind of kickback from those property's to say they are part of this group. Brimestone could have easily said, "Hey, if you stay on our property, we will give you a discount on your passes or some other incentive". "If you CHOOSE to stay somewhere else, fine, but we are going to charge you an extra 10% for your passes. The execution of the Brimestone decisions have alot to be desired. Piss poor planning if you ask me!

Dont think trailsend rode on no ones coattail. As the twra is there so they ride it also. Plus when you open said leased land to the payin public you cant discriminate against someone cause they dont stay at approved place. Its a law. The trails were mostly there already. So your comments just show your just another one of the sobs that think its ok to tell ppl where to spend their money.

The point is: Brimstone does not have the right to dictate where I stay when riding their trails.
Anything else about fees etc is a diversion - the permits cover the trail maintenance etc..
The comments on kickbacks - Trails End has offered payment to Brimstone - go read it on the Trails End FB page.
Brimstone / Mark Love is using their public office (vice mayor) daughter is chair of Chamber of Commerce to remove Trails End road signs etc..
So how can anyone defend Brimstone's actions? They don't own the land, they lease it and opened it to the public

Many paid for yearly passes to brimstone this year before the new rules were announced, but that didnt matter so most have demanded refunds. You can go ride there since it seems your just a brimstone lacky making the same lame comments over and over, Give marks ass another big kiss and im sure you can ride for free. LOL

This really shows poorly on our community. I will join my out of town friends and will never set foot on Brimstone property again until they go out of business and TWRA takes it over.
Good, maybe now I can sleep without ATV's blowing by my house at all hours, parking in front of my house taking breaks and throwing their garbage down. If any riding is to exist on Brimstone, I wish TWRA would take it over. Maybe then rules would have to be enforced by the local police and county government.

The citizens of Scott county don't care if you come here or not. You ride up and down the back roads next to our homes, and disrupt our quiet lives with your riding all hours of the night. As far as revenue for the county, it hasn't seen a dime. As far as most of us are concerned, the brimstone recreation could go away and we wouldn't shed a single tear. Boycott! We hope you do....

I live here in the county and have been to every event. The people that I see acting like idiots and causing problems for the neighbors are the locals, not the big groups that come in and ride! All the groups, ie southern sxs, southern rzr, etc., have always been considerate of the locals. And, when they've been on someone's private land, they weren't even aware of that fact. All you have to do is tell them and they apologize and leave. Furthermore, the "big deal " is that these new rules are trying to run another business out! We have the highest unemployment rate in the state and are also one of the poorest counties in the state. Putting someone out of business by saying if you stay here you can't ride Brimstone is only going to hurt the local economy. Even more people will be unemployed! Folks what's going on here is WRONG!! We as a community need to stand up for what's right!!

And from what I'm hearing the approved places have no clue as to what's goin on. Brimstone has no curtesy for anyone besides brimstone. Just dragging innocent businesses into this, having people getting mad and boycotting everyone on the approved list just because they want trails end to suffer. If ur gona be affliated with somebody at least make then aware of it and get their approval. Brimstone only cares about the $ brimstone can make and nothing about the local economy.

If i was the owner of one of the businesses on the preferred list I would be demanding my name removed and brimstone publish a new list ASAP before they start losing business.

The pissing contest has been going on for a while but it didn't bother us or keep us from coming from SC and Ga. to ride Brimstone. We usually stayed at trails End. I don't know either of the "guys in charge" nor do I care to. All we want is to ride and have a good time. I will not be told where I can and can't stay so I guess we will be riding the other areas from now on. Its really sad because I have been an annual member for the last 8 or so years.

Rode the TWRA trails yesterday on guided ride by Trails End and it was awesome!! Permits are cheap, jeeps, sxs, rail bugs all welcome without million dollar insurance coverage AND you can still stay at Trails End and ride!! And yes, trails are accessible from the campground!!
